Hummus wars: DePaul Israel lobbyists say boycott campaign threatens Jewish students

Interesting goings on at DePaul on hummus:

DePaul Hillel: “It is this environment that bodes ominously for our school’s future for Jewish students and genuine dialogue between Jews and Muslims.”

Trent Carl of Students for Justice in Palestine, which has pushed the boycott of Sabra Hummus: “SJP is a secular organization with a diverse body of members. DePaul’s Muslim Student Association, UMMA, is not involved at all in the divestment campaign. So why bring in religious dialogue?”

Shirien D adds:

Jews standing up in solidarity with Palestine are squashing Zionists’  inaccurate characterizations of the campaign as anti-Semitic. So please, Zionists, stop the over-used and simplistic rhetoric. Try coming up with more sophisticated talking points, or even better, try actually addressing all of the concerns we have with Israel’s human rights issues.
