When the chief rabbis of dozens of cities in Israel issued a religious ruling earlier this month stating that it is forbidden for Jews to sell or rent property to non-Jews, the government did nothing to stop them, and even continues to pay their salaries.
Yesterday, national newspaper Ha’aretz published the results of a scholarly survey, revealing that a full 44% of Israeli Jews actually support the rabbis’ racist letter. When the state refuses to intervene in defense of basic human rights, we must take matters into our own hands, and put these demagogues on notice. The video above lists the photographs, phone numbers, and addresses of 25 of these racist rabbis, accompanied by a classic cantorial performance by the legendary Jo Amar that’s most fitting: ‘Peace to my Cousins’. See the clip, send it to your friends and family, and take the time to write a letter, make a call, and let them know how you feel: that there must be
equality before the law, in this land and every other, now and forevermore.
