What rough beast slouches towards East Jerusalem?

on 24 Comments

childThere’s an astonishing series of photos by Ammar Awad of Reuters of a child’s arrest in East Jerusalem for alleged stonethrowing, now up at the MSNBC blog. Please go look at all of them, including the boy being torn from his father, and tell me what your conscience says to you. Katie Cannon of MSNBC writes, sensibly, “Guilty or not, it would be terribly hard to see a child in one’s family be taken away by authorities.” Are you rising from your sleep, America?

Hope folks go on over to the MSNBC link and encourage, politely ask, beg, hammer MSNBC to open up those gates even further. Have been politely pounding on MSNBC for years now asking them to put another crack in the wall of silence on their programs about the I/P conflict. Go on over to Chris Matthews Hardblogger, Keiths, Rachels. Collective pounding.

Dylan Ratigan is the only one who has stepped out of line doing a segment with Gleen Greenwald where they nail Cliff May and his lies about Iran, the I/P conflict etc. Rachel Maddow repeats the I lobbies debunked talking points. “Iran wants to wipe Israel off the map” etc. Chris Matthews has been having guest like Frank Gaffney, Douglas Feith onto discuss Iran/Start etc. You remember part of the “pack of lies” warmongers. Trying to get him to have Flynt Leverett, Juan Cole, others who focus on the facts on the ground in Iran, Israel etc.

Go on over and give them an earful

Actually now that I think about it have been hammering on MSNBC since before the illegal invasion of Iraq. The only one who even questioned the false intelligence before the invasion was Chris Matthews. And he mostly went after Kristol, Frum a few others .

How many infuriating, disgraceful fotos does America need to see?!

Connect the dots between your American tax dollar and this systematic child abuse in Palestine!

Yes America, YOU are paying for breaking the bones and spirits of the underage thousands of miles away from your own happy, green playgrounds.

So how long you wanna keep doing this for, huh?

Time for you to boycott Aipac-puppet politicians – they’re the ones insuring your tax dollar is spent on abuse after child abuse in the holy land – there’s no other way to stop this atrocity in your silent names.

The facts on the ground are that Americans do not see these photos or hear any clear and accurate coverage. Rachel Maddow will cover gay rights issues even in other countries but will not touch the human rights abuses of Israel. Will not go near it…either a Pep (Progressive except for Palestine) or obviously more concerned about her paycheck than the truth about this issue.

Chris Matthews, Ed, Keith all roll over.
National and local papers will not touch this issue honestly.

Hell Firedoglake’s so called progressive blogger Jane Hamsher will not even whisper about the I/P conflict when she is in the national spotlight when she is allegedly addressing the reasons that progressives are disappointed in the President. Hamsher will not even “whisper” about this issue. Attacks and bans anyone who challenges her.

So if so called progressive bloggers who end up in the national news spotlight will not even whisper about the issue you can be assured that most Americans are not even aware of this conflict and how it is just wrong but literally undermines U.S. National security.

If this issue really comes out you can bet your ass that opportunist like Jane Hamsher and others will jump on

“Guilty or not, it would be terribly hard to see a child in one’s family be taken away by authorities.”

That’s very evocative for me. My Mom made a great effort to have me taken away by authourities, but nobody would do it.

“Are you rising from your sleep, America?”

You must live in a different country from me. Oh, that’s right, you’ve got money.

Yeah, the rest of us poor American folks can only afford to rise up from our sleep to watch the Falcons and the Saints tonight and have a couple of Icehouse beers. I bet that Jane Hamsher’s got a BIGSCREEN TV!

“Are you rising from your sleep, America? ”

An induced sleep via the strong and successful efforts to keep the facts on the ground in this conflict and the debate shut down in our media and in our congress over the last five decades by the I lobby.

    Still basically shut down

And I really can’t figure out why you think it’s America’s job to rescue the Israeli’s from themselves.
It’s not. And as far as I can see, most American;s reflexively admire anything Israel does. You know, Entebbe, baby!

Especially since Americans can’t even rescue themselves from themselves.
OK, gotta go! My favorite episode of Dogfights is on the military channel now–great shots of IDF fighter planes made in the good ol’ USA knocking off Arabs in Soviet MIGs. Good interviews of the brave and highly skilled IDF pilots too!

Some people live out their fantasies through others. So, society winds up with a bunch of Chuck Norris wannabees who think Israel is a real life version of airsoft or paintball. Plus, why bother chasing deer when American zionists from Florida and Brookline can hunt down Palestinian kids in their newly found homeland, Eretz Yisrael? Am Yisrael, Am Yisrael, Am Yisrael Chai…

Mooser, since America has given so much support and encouragement to Israel, it does look as though America has some moral obligation to save them.

“”If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it…

Bill Kristol, John Bolton, Wurmsers, Feith, NPR, too many congress people to follow, Ledeen, Netanyahu, Aipac….you know who that goes. How many times do we hear these people say Israel is America’s best friend, we are on the same page, have the same agenda yada yada yada.

When is the last time you had your property bull dozed, gone through a checkpoint, had your kids spit on, been put in prison for non violent protesting?

Those guys look ridiculous wearing all that body armor to snatch that little kid, especially since he is so frail looking. Do they think he has super powers or something? Pictures like these usually speak for themselves, and when they are put into context, they generally make the Israelis look worse. The problem is that too many Americans and Jews have so much invested in Israel that they are willing to snatch onto and clutch anything that explains why “it is necessary”, even if it is the long winded arguments of a Thomas Friedman. If they are not convinced by the arguments they are bored to death by them and forget the whole thing. Don’t laugh, I really do think Israel supporters use boredom as a tactic. Just look at some of their comments here.

When the NYT, WaPo, HuffPo and other leading media sites cover the I/P conflict in varying degrees of comprehensiveness, MSNBC is silent.

Why? Who or what makes the decision?

People watch cable “news” not to be informed, but to have their current attitudes and opinions validated. MSNBC is aimed to liberal Democrats, who deal with Israeli transgressions by ignoring them and changing the subject. MSNBC has few enough viewers already, they don’t want to lose any more. I know a lot of commenters will only blame Aipac, but I think this is one of those situations where no pressure is needed.

I thought the coverage or lack of the Mavi Marmara crimes being committed by Israeli soldiers was interesting. Watched MSNBC closely. Chris Matthews showed the same Israeli released clip (Israeli soldiers coming down on ropes and then being beaten) 9 times in seven minutes. Chris Matthews basically beat up on the human rights activist. Did not say of show anything from the other side. Nothing. Nada.

That same night Keith Olbermann did not touch the issue. But a few nights later he had Ambassador Peck on. Rachel Maddow did not touch the massacre that evening. But a few nights later showed the tape released by Israel and also of the tape that the woman reporter got out showing the view from the Mavi Marmara. At one point Rachel said she would keep people updated. Never ever did.

None of them even whispered about the UN report about what took place on the Mavi Marmara. Nothing not even a sound about the 9 human rights activist being executed by Israeli soldiers.

The I lobby and Israel have our media outlets tied up in knots

All Mondoweiss’ers should go to the MSNBC site to see all four photographs. The most heart-wrenching is not here on Mondoweiss. A forlorn kid — as case of mistaken identity — inside an Israeli prisoner transport vehicle, with his family reflected on the glass outside, helplessly looking on.

Your American tax dollars at work. The sheeple should be proud. Go root for your football team, check out the latest celebrity gossip, see the piano-playing cat on YouTube — just make certain you dopes pay no attention whatsoever to how America’s foreign policy is contributing to “why they hate us.”
