Wingnuts focus on Weiner’s marriage to Muslim

on 31 Comments

Max Blumenthal says neocon crazies are horning in on Anthony Weiner’s marriage to a Muslim, Huma Abedin. One of them is the PR maven Eleana Benador:

Writing in the Washington Times, (the last time I picked up that paper was probably when I was working on my report about the white nationalist cabal that was running its newsroom at the time), Benador portrays Weiner’s marriage to Huma Abedin as an Alinskyite union between a leftist (read: self-hating commie) Jew and a taqiyyah-practicing Muslim who are conspiring to put the United States under the control of Shariah law:

“When looking broadly at the Anthony Weiner–Huma Abedin union, we have to wonder if the coupling of a Jewish American man and a Muslim woman of her pedigree was fostered by love or by a socialist political agenda”…

Also at the Washington Times, Eric Golub, a professional nobody who says he “only dates Republican Jewish women” (unsurprisingly, he is also an Andrew Breitbart blogger), claims that Weiner hates Jewish women. Golub goes on to compare Weiner’s marriage to the Holocaust, writing that Weiner and other Jews who marry non-Jews are doing “what Hitler failed to do.”

Update: This post originally identified Abedin as Arab-American. I’m told she’s of Pakistani background, though she speaks Arabic. Thanks to Parsa Sajid.

Not long ago he would have been accusing gay Jewish people of doing “what Hitler failed to do.”

According to the New York Observer*, Abedin is Pakistani (mother’s side) and Indian (father’s side). She’s not of Arab descent.

Side note: Bill Maher referred to Afghanistan and Pakistan as “Arab countries” on Real Time this past Friday. I find him woefully uninformed much of the time.

Much of the time in general on his show. Not much of the time on the ME. As you said, he’s pathetic on that all the time.

His Netanyahu interviews are some of the most ridiculous ass-kissing I have ever seen on TV, and then the other day he actually had the nerve to act like, “oh, yeah, I know Netanyahu is right-wing extremist, of course.”

I think he thinks 90% of Arabs are sitting in the desert right now or riding their camels, plotting how to kill Jews and Americans and how best to oppress women. That’s the way he talks.

Aside from the Netanhayu garbage, when he starts talking about how he doesn’t believe in “moral relativism,” that’s when you know some bullshit is about to come out.

My wife (Palestinian) and I (European Jewish backgound) were invited by the Governor of Massachusetts, Michael Dukakis, to a breakfast given by him in the State House for important local Arab-Americans. He worked the room, mumbling sweet nothings to people (I suppose), but when he got to me, he asked, roughly, “What’s a guy like you doing here?” and I got to reply to him that I was proud to be part of a mixed marriage, just as he was (his wife was Jewish). He hurried away.

      “He hurried away.” eek.

So how are you and your wife’s views different or the same on the conflict etc.

With Weiners denial of the I/P facts on the ground over there vote against the Goldstone Report, votes on sanctions against Iran etc have to wonder if his Arab American wife is with him on these delusional views?

The Washington Times piece does not and can not link Huma Abedin, nor her “pedigree” family to Saul Alinksy. At all. There goes the logic.

In the end, it is is not about Weiner. Huma Abedin should prove, by her reactions, that she is not a true muslim. Would you like some serrano?

Yeah, no doubt Huma’s a “sleeper” Islamofascist Jihadist in a more fanciful turn of the imagination – here to beguile and seduce horny little Likudist trolls like Weiner away from their AIPAC/Israel Lobby loyalties. If so, she’s failing miserably up to this point.

Born in the USA and moved to Saudia Arabia when she was two years old, returning at 17 to the USA to attend college, hmmm? Hey, how do we account for those 15 formative years? I say there’s something very suspicious going on here, and I thank the selfless Elena Benador for pointing out this deadly threat to the welfare of Israel which exists right in our midst.

Thank Allah Ms Benador is here, along with the patriots represented by her [now defunct?] speakers bureau — far-sighted, insightful patriots like Mike Ledeen, Dick Perle, James Woolsey, the late A.M. Rosenthal [did A.M. stand for "awfully mendacious"?], Frank Gaffney and the like. No seductive Moslem Scherherazades will pull the wool over the eyes of gullible, love-sick, bleeding heart American liberalswhile they are on the job!

I’m sleeping so much more soundly at night thanpreviously, secure in this knowledge.

If you click on the link to Benador’s bio at the Washington Times article you get the following:

“Goodwill Ambassador Eliana Benador, US Representative of the Shomron Liaison Office, Israel, former head of ex-Benador Associates, political analyst, global strategist, national and international.
You can follow Eliani here at the Communities at the Washington Times, the Goodwill Amabassador , or her website The World As I See It.
Follow Eliani on Twitter @ElianaBenador ”

So she is a supporter (member?) of the fanatic settlers around Nablus. Also, Benador Associates represented extreme Islamophobic speakers like Charles Jacobs and Daniel Pipes, so “not a Pam Geller type” may be over-generous. Geller’s motivation was also apparently Israel.

Benador Assoc. seems to be out of business, thankfully, but you can get a flavor here: link to

The Bio doesn’t mention the fact that Benador was responsible for the “Jews in Iran forced to wear Yellow Star” hoax.

Forgot to mention, another member of the Benador stable is the oleaginous pseudo-historian Efraim Karsh, prolific and oft-quoted author of Zionist fantasy-fiction such as “Empires of the Sand “. This book was praised by Daniel Pipes, Amir Taheri (stablemate at Benador) and the usual suspects.
Morris called it “a mélange of distortions, half-truths, and plain lies”, Dr. Anthony Toth (D.Phil, Oxford) “intemperate and unbalanced rhetoric”, Yezid Sayigh, Professor of Middle East Studies (King’s College London), “He is simply not what he makes himself out to be, a trained historian (nor political/social scientist)…. any self-respecting scholar will be too embarrassed to even try to incorporate the Karsh books in his/her teaching or research”.

This ex-IDF Major has a B.A. in History (the balance of his academic credentials are in “International Relations”)

Benador is located on Hasbara Street, just off Propaganda Lane.

max’s bolded section of wack job benador

I clearly see that the actions of this group signal their socialist agenda, which includes domination of the U.S. by a Muslim ruled world.

Which begs the question of whether Huma Abedin been groomed by family and political leaders to carry this agenda forward?

    • Leper Colonialist
      June 13, 2011, 12:27 pm

Yep! It’s clear as day – Huma Abedin is the Sharia Candidate. Or is the Islamabad Candidate catchier?

I wonder – when people write stuff like what you quoted above, are they off their meds, overdosed on their meds, or simply beyond the point where any meds in any dosage can help. Perhaps she’s just doing a bad parody of Dinesh D’szouza [spelling?] and his recent theory of POTUS Obama’s plan to further daddy’s African socialist agenda.

See, Marx is right – history repeats itself. It occurs the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce. I never suspected that the second go-round on that idea would occur so so after the first.

Someone beam up the brain-addled Ms. Benador; she’s obviously not of this earth.

I think all the Abedin- Weiner marriage proves is political ambition trumps any other differences.
My take on her is she was looking forward to being the wife of the Mayor of New York or at the least, wife of a congressman or possibly a senator.
According to the NYT and WP, if we can believe them, She was micro managing Weiner thru the scandal and urging him not to resign.
I also thought the release of the news that she was pregnant was odd timing considering that it was reported that they had told only a few close friend and family..which means some friend or family member had to have leaked it and would have leaked it only with Weiner’s permission…..perhaps for sympathy.
Anyhow…the sooner they disappear from view the better…the sleaze is distracting.
But must say it couldn’t have happened to more deserving fellow.
    Good riddance…stay gone.

As Jeff Klein already noted above, Eleana Benador heads up a PR firm with extreme right-wing affiliations. (What is it about Peru that generates so many conservative nutters — Fujimori, Mario Vargas Llosa…?) Those affiliations are worth noting further. Among those Benador represents: Max Boot, Frank J. Gaffney, Jr., Alexander M. Haig, Jr., Martin Kramer, Charles Krauthammer, Michael Ledeen, Kanan Makiya, Laurie Mylroie, Richard Perle, Richard Pipes, A. M. Rosenthal, Ruth Wedgwood, Meyrav Wurmser.

Yeah, you look at this list of crazies and reflect that Max specifically described her as such: “The author of this piece, Benador, is not some Gellerite crank.” Now, either Max is being generous or Geller is nuttier than we imagine.

With talent like that, Benador should boast not of her stable of talent, but of her dense pack.

Has any of those gents every been correct about any two subjects on any two consectutive days?

Vargas Llosa seems to be going soft. He praised the recent election of the leftist president in Peru. And a few years ago he wrote a sympathetic novel about Roger Casement.

Hasn’t anyone mentioned that it is haram (forbidden) for a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim, unless of course he has converted to Islam? I assume Weiner hasn’t. Another reason to feel sorry for his wife – the trouble she may be in with her own family and co-religionists.

I just assume that she does not view her religious obligations the same way you view them, or at least, as you’ve describe them. Even before I ditched religion altogether, back when I was nominally a Catholic, you should have seen all the “forbidden” things I used to do…

Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan and a great hero in the Muslim world, married a Parsee woman, disobeyed almost all the Muslim rules of conduct, and was conspicuous for his ignorance of the Koran and most everything else about Islam. Nevertheless, he was and still is a great hero all over the Muslim world.

  14. Kate

lysias, I don’t think that’s relevant. A Muslim man can marry a woman belonging to one of the Peoples of the Book (Christians, Jews, etc), though not a polytheist. A Muslim woman must marry a Muslim. That’s been the rule since the beginning of Islam.

Text: Rep. Anthony Weiner’s Passover Letter to President Obama to release Pollard

    Justice4JPnews – April 23, 2011

    April 22, 2011

President Barack Obama The White House
    1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
    Washington, D.C. 20500

    Dear Mr. President,

As Pesach, the holiday of freedom, comes to a close, I urge you to use your constitutional power to commute the sentence of Jonathan Pollard and allow him to join his family in Israel. This exercise in justice is not meant to imply doubt about his guilt or cast any aspersions on the process by which he was convicted. On the contrary, Mr. Pollard knows that he has committed serious crimes and after 26 years, stands as the strongest deterrent to espionage in this country. However, his charges do not merit the punishment.

It is indisputable that the disproportionate amount of time that Mr. Pollard spent in prison is a thorn in the side of the alliance between Israel and the United States. Mr. Pollard cooperated with investigators, admitted his wrongdoing, and was sentenced to life in prison. No one who has ever pleaded guilty to a similar crime has ever been sentenced to a life term.

Commuting Mr. Pollard’s sentence will be viewed as an act of compassion on behalf of the United States and between two allies. Mr. President, please do what former President Bush has repeatedly refused and heed the countless calls for Pollard’s freedom during this Passover season.

I thank you for your time and consideration of this request.

    Member of Congress

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) is one of several Jewish groups that have worked to produce a Congressional letter to President Barack Obama, urging him to exercise clemency and release convicted Israeli spy, Jonathan Pollard. A Congressional letter, initiated by Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) written in coordination with a broad array of Jewish groups, including the ZOA, and signed by 39 Democratic Members of Congress, called for the freeing of Pollard who, after 25 years behind bars, has more than served any reasonable term for passing classified material to an American ally. Other Jewish groups backing the letter include the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, National Council of Young Israel, B’nai B’rith International, the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, Agudath Israel of America and the Rabbinic Council of America.

The Members of Congress stated in their letter, “We believe that there has been a great disparity from the standpoint of justice between the amount of time Mr. Pollard has served and the time that has been served – or not served at all – by many others who were found guilty of similar activity on behalf of nations that, like Israel, are not adversarial to us,” it says. “It is indisputable in our view that the nearly twenty-five years that Mr. Pollard has served stands as a sufficient time from the standpoint of either punishment or deterrence” (‘Congressional letter urges Obama to release Pollard,’ Jerusalem Post, November 19, 2010).

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “The ZOA has long argued that Jonathan Pollard has more than served his sentence for passing on classified information to Israel, a U.S. ally, not a U.S. enemy. Jonathan Pollard has expressed in writing deep remorse for breaking the law. No one ever charged with espionage, even those who spied for U.S. enemies like the Soviet Union, and whose activities resulted in the death of American agents, has served a comparable amount of time behind bars to Jonathan Pollard, whose activities involved no such detrimental results. This is clearly an injustice.

“Jonathan Pollard pled guilty as part of a plea bargain, but he was shown no leniency and was given the maximum sentence, comparable to that of Aldrich Ames, the chief of CIA counterintelligence in Eastern Europe, who passed critical defense secrets to the Soviet Union during the Cold War, and who was found responsible for the deaths of at least 11 U.S. agents. Much of the harm to American security alleged to have been caused by Jonathan Pollard’s actions may well have been caused by the espionage activities of Aldrich Ames and Robert Hanssen, whose actions came to light only after the Pollard sentencing.

“We renew our call to President Obama for the release without delay of Jonathan Pollard.”

Thank you Kathleen. It is vitally important for those of us on the right side of the Palestine/Israel issue to remember who Weiner really is: someone who would trade what is supposed to be his own country down the river, in league with the traitor Pollard, for the benefit of Pollard’s bosses in Israel. Weiner did this, even knowing that those Israeli bosses gave that information to our enemy, costing the lives of a dozen Americans. Indeed, Pollard and the Israelis put the gun to the head of those Americans for the Soviets to pull the trigger. Weiner is is cheering it on after the fact.
