A very good example is my reply to Robert Werdine about the USS Liberty. Robert is being disingenuous and citing doctored transcripts. I don't know enough about naval history to rebut the newspaper accounts he quotes. Fortunately richb does.

Mmmm, does Phil think there has been a full and customary US congressional investigation of the USS Liberty incident? Does Phil there is no on-going controversy in the matter, and that the factual cover up of it by the US government has no relation whatsoever to the war of ideas in the Middle East?
This post has been censored by the editorial staff, as they don’t think calling people out on the attack on the USS Liberty is acceptable.

I’m confused about the USS Liberty thing. I met with several of the men who survived the attack on the 40th anniversary in the summer of 2007 at Arlington National Cemetery. Unless this group of veterans from all over the US is collectively psychotic, there’s a lot about this attack that’s very fair and necessary to talk about.
When the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who was also the Chief of Naval Operations investigates it and says it was a coverup and a crime, and says this just seven years ago, then it’s significant.
I am confused too.
What did I miss on the Liberty?
Who got attacked over what?
I have read thru the real time adm notes on the USS Liberty at Johnson’s Presidential Library and it’s obvious to me there was a’ political’ cover up and short circuited investigation.
If anyone thinks that somehow all the people who were actually on the ship are collectively crazy or lying than go ask Col Pat Lang about the recorded transmissions of the Israeli planes that are still in the archives of the US War College.

I’ve restored the post to how it was when originally published, with the addition of a disclaimer. There’s been a significant difference of editorial opinion. I don’t know how long the post will remain in its current useful form.

Well, if anyone wanted to spend the time we could have a civilized moot court case on the available evidence of whether or not it was an accident. That would be interesting.

It appears to me that Robert Werdine is getting his argument from the Jay Cristol book.
Cristol is a professed zionist and ardent Israel supporter, formerly in the Navy and now a judge who wrote the book to clear Israel. Except, most of his book has been debunked by the people he ‘ claimed to have interviewed’ for the book but actually never interviewed or even spoke to.
And again Cristol is an example of why I say that ‘everyone’ in any position of access or authority in our government; military, intelligence, political office Justice,..any government agency or institution , should be ‘thoroughly vetted’ as to any ‘foreign allegiance’ they may have – it’s called CONFLICT OF INTEREST folks.
Conflict of Interest is why judges recuse themselves, why someone is required to ‘divest’ themselves of certain holdings or interest in certain positions…it use to be SOP in almost every venue of business and law and politics but got tossed aside over the decades as we became generally more corrupt.
Conflict of Interest needs to be applied now more than ever in every sector – and also in the case of US Israel supporters or zionist having positions that can squew or influence any US dealings with Israel.
