Then after that I dropped the f-bomb on my husband for starting the Iraq war

Should we have known that Elliott Abrams, former White House adviser, had dear friends who were colonists in the occupied territories? I guess they all do. Here’s a post from his wife, Rachel Abrams, at badrachel blog. I do believe the sister can write. Almost used her last line as the headline:

We spend Shabbat afternoon with beloved friends who live beyond the Green Line in the Judean hills [in the occupied West Bank]. They were in the first group of eighteen settlers to break ground here, to scrabble their desert plot into lovely terraced gardens… Their love for this place is in their bones, and aching.

[The couple returns in a car driven by Elliott Abrams]

we are lost on an unfamiliar road in a part of Jerusalem neither one of us recognizes. Uphill to our left is what looks like a techy office area; downhill to our right is the Zionist Racist Apartheid Wall. As we pass along at warp speed I say out loud to Mr. Leadfoot, the only person within earshot,  “F*** you, Arabs!” Then rant on in my head so as not to further irritate an already irritated driver who hates getting lost and almost never does so: “This partition was their choice. They could have had their state sixty-three years ago, if only they’d accepted the original partition instead of going to war against the Jews. Blah, blah, blah.”…

[Yes like Americans would have accepted a colony under the English flag in the late 1700s in New York and New England and Pennsylvania and Virginia…]

[Sorry: now they are lost in an orthodox neighborhood, and the black hats start screaming at them for driving on Saturday]

SHABBES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHABBES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHABBES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” they shriek at us, as if we didnt already know it’s Shabbes, as if we want to be there offending them We speed up and down streets as wide as pencils in our increasingly desperation-filled mini-car; I cower, waiting for the stoning to begin. I hear myself saying “F*** YOU” again

My husband has maneuvered us around a roadblock and back to the present. Escape! Zionism! The Jewish State! Air conditioning!…

Ah, Mr Abrams. A man who has said that Jews must always be ‘seperate’ from the society they live in and never assimilate.
And his wife is a good friend of Ms. Rubin at WaPo(you know, the ex-Commentary blogger who now spouts her anti-Obama, Israel Firster rants at WaPo under the good Fred Hyatt’s watch).

Mr Abrams, for your information, came up with an article in Foreign Affairs very recently, the premier Foreign Polícy magazine in the world, where the headline said it all: ‘Settlements are not the problem’.

Name me one other group of people who can have extremists and outright racists/supporters of Apartheid in such influential positions without getting challenged even *once*.

I can buy that some of us don’t want to go after them because of the fear of anti-Semitism, but where is our self-policing? We are quickly becomming the New Afrikaaners.

she’s bad alrighty. i scrolled down to a post called ‘Nation-building Biden-Style ‘ although it sounds more like rachel style to me.

The Biden plan is basically this: If the AfPakians pull another 9/11, Barack Obama will personally step down, contact the medical team that controls access to my good friend Dick Cheney’s brain, and make him president for 48 hours. In those two days Cheney drops 20,000 tons of thermo-nuclear electro-magnetic pulse bombs on every square inch of AfPakistan. Then Obama re-assumes the presidency and places me in charge of the special prosecution of Dick Cheney. Nation-building here at home. Lordy day, I tell ya!

    “the sister can write…”

    “Sister” as in “tribal” sister?

You might want to rethink that. It’s part of the problem.

    Message to Rachel Abrams:

I took a certain satisfaction at your account of your narrow escape from the ultra-Orthodox mob. Imagine what your fate would have been if you had been Palestinian.

If the ultra-Orthodox ever succeed at winning total control, they will proclaim that “Israel has a right to exist as an ORTHODOX Jewish state.” At that point, in the eyes of the Israeli authorities, you and your neoconservative husband will be in the same racial category as the Palestinians.

“Their love for this place is in their bones…”

I once heard an old proverb: “Stolen meat always tastes better”.

RE: “Should we have known that Elliott Abrams, former White House adviser, had dear friends who were colonists in the occupied territories?” – Weiss

    FROM ELLIOTT ABRAMS, 04/08/09:

Is current and recent settlement construction creating insurmountable barriers to peace? A simple test shows that it is not. Ten years ago, in the Camp David talks, Prime Minister Ehud Barak offered Yasser Arafat approximately 94 percent of the West Bank, with a land swap to make up half of the 6 percent Israel would keep. According to news reports, just three months ago, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert offered 93 percent, with a one-to-one land swap. In the end, under the January 2009 offer, Palestinians would have received an area equal to 98 to 98.5 percent of the West Bank (depending on which press report you read), while 10 years ago they were offered 97 percent. Ten years of settlement activity would have resulted in a larger area for the Palestinian state…

P.S. Ergo, the ‘Abrams Principle’ stands for the proposition that more Israeli settlement activity in the West Bank will result in a larger area for the Palestinian state. That’s why I say, “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead” with the settlement actvity; so as to result in the largest Palestinian state possible (from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River)! “Let Right Be Done.”

P.P.S. Adam Klugman has had some good coverage of Gaza Flotilla 2.

Bad Rachel’s self absorbed blindness to the realities of The Israel project, the oppression of other human beings, the chosen ignorance, protected by her indoctrinated and racist ideology is …stunning.

She can write, but she is frightening.
