Obama tells 900 rabbis that resolving I/P ‘crisis’ is key to peace in Middle East

Obama spoke to 900 rabbis yesterday in a conference call, for over 30 minutes. Wow. Adam Kredo reports at Washington Jewish Week that the president understands the importance of the Israel/Palestine issue:

“The most important thing we can do to stabilize the strategic situation for Israel is if we can actually resolve the Palestinian-Israeli crisis because that’s what feeds so much of the tumult in Egypt,” Obama said. “That’s what I think has created the deep tension between Turkey and Israel and Turkey has historically been a friend and ally of Israel’s. That’s why we think direct negotiations are so critical.”

“direct negotiations”

There’s someone else who comments here (mores the pity) who uses that phrase all the time. I just can’t think of who it is.

From the linked article:
“The president added that “the U.S. relationship with Egypt is centered on their maintaining strong communications and maintaining the peace arrangement with Israel, and they’ve gotten the message.” ”

Translation: We have threatened Egypt with sanctions and violence on behalf of Israel.

…”if we can actually resolve the Palestinian-Israeli crisis…”
How? Through “negotiations” with Israel?
Does Obama believe a word of what comes out of his own mouth?
Does he realize how much of a prostitute he is?

Can the rest of us be pardoned if we suspect that not solving the I/P conflict, or worse still, resolving it on terms totally favorable to Israel, is the keyt o POTUS Obama’s second term.? The good rabbis surely realize this, when will the rest of us sheeple be allowed to tumble to that thought?

I’m so tired of the same, meaningless hollow phrases, looping these statements doesn’t make them any truer.

“The most important thing we can do to stabilise the strategic situation for Israel is if we can actually resolve the Palestinian-Israeli crisis”

Israel doesn’t give 2c for ‘stabilisation’, seeing as it’s proud of absolutely everything it has done to cause the situation they’re currently in, in the first place, which includes pissing off every single one of their neighbours repeatedly. Regret on their part? Remorse? I don’t remember hearing “whoops, we totally took the wrong turn here, we need to make amends” as a mainstream Israeli response to things. They’re still on the “we can do everything we want and get away with it” trip, knowing full well they’ll be granted clemency from the US at the end of the day. In fact, it’s this knowledge that likely makes them bully others around so much, in the first place. The irony.

About half a year ago, I remember reading an article in a mainstream publication over here reporting that Obama promised Israel over a dozen fighter jets if it kept to its promise to stick to whatever ceasefire de-jour was being formally practiced back then. (The article was in a German-language newspaper a while back, pardon me for not linking to it, I’ve lost the link to it since. Anyone have any links to this in English?) Yes, that’s the level we’re working with, here. It’s like giving Iran 10 nukes for every half a year it abstains from hurting anyone with them, it’s so absurd, it blows the mind.

“The biggest threat Israel faces from a security perspective is Iran’s nuclear program”

By the same standards, Israel’s possession of a dangerous amount of nukes poses the same security threat, if not a bigger one, especially since Israeli politicians (I’m remembering a Dayan quote that was discussed in a previous topic here, but there’s likely been people parroting him since, and certainly enough people still supporting his ideas) have proudly proclaimed they’d be willing to ‘go out with a bang’ than back down from their present course. I want to hear Iran letting off quotes like that, and Obama then flying over to talk of the solidarity between the two states, and of the US support that Iran can be sure of. It might not be pretty, but it might make his actions that smidgen more consequential.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu knows he can count on the United States”

Important point. You see, there Bibi was, actually thinking he could play the US like a piano – important to know that he can only ‘count’ on the US, instead. Sad news for him, I’m sure.
