We are extremely excited to announce our first staffers: Allison Deger has agree to join us as assistant editor and Alex Kane has agreed to be our first ever staff reporter. This marks a milestone for the site and we couldn’t be happier to bring both of them on board.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where she studied Peace and Conflict Studies and Middle Eastern Studies, she has worked with advocacy organizations in the Bay Area, New York, and France, on issues relating to human rights in the Middle East, and Islamophobia in the U.S.  She previously worked for The Nation magazine, and truthout.org. Allison lives in the Bay Area, where she has worked as a researcher in a collaborative with Global Exchange. Her research focuses on private security contractors, detention and deportation.
