Other folks are posting this video, and I try and run with the herd. I don't get it; it could be pure sophisticated propaganda. It's from the Abrahamicmovement, which seems nutteristic. But it's funny, and it's getting hits.
The alleged Christmas present (see Santa wrapping) is Liberty Defined, by Ron Paul. The woman in the video misquotes Paul by saying he called Israel an "apartheid state."
Page 327:
Meanwhile, within Israeli politics, there is a great deal of debate and diversity of opinion. The Liberal party in Israel [sic] often raises questions about the apartheid conditions that Palestinians are subjected to. Even newspapers in Israel are willing to discuss this issue openly, but it is essentially never permitted in the United States. Former President Jimmy Carter is now persona non grata for raising the question in his most recent book, Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.
Thanks to Ami Kaufman at 972 and Ron Kampeas at JTA, who provided the transcript.

Phil,
It’s becoming clearer every hour that Ron Paul’s entire candidacy has become a referendum on the Israel relationship and lobby. To read comments below any opinion piece about Paul, anywhere, is to see this. (In fact I just a piece in which one commenter dubs Paul’s followers ‘Paulistinians’.)
It’s amazing, and it’s incredible to see that the whole country understands this. You should do a post on it.
thats interesting Gellian. thanks for the comment. this has always been the virtue of the Ron Paul campaign: that it was anti neocon forcefully, making no deals with them.
‘Paulistinians’, that’s funny.
yeah, the anti war movement is leaving the dem party in droves. serves em right.
I mentioned this also on the long RP thread below that talkingpointsmemo (true liberal, Democratic Party sensitive blog) has closed comments on all four RP articles they have up today. They have been up there with Huff Po in pushing the newsletter smear. Sad to see this TPM Cafe used to have some good intelligent exchanges on IP issues; indeed they were so open minded they even let Phil post a couple of articles (which is how I discovered MW). Those days are long gone.
Harder to sense these things from the foggy UK. Are people trying to say that the United States is too close to Israel or just they are very averse to a war with Iran?
My sense is there’s no meaningful difference between the two. This again is to interpret the zillions of comments below Ron Paul pieces on the net but they seem pretty obviously to be saying that this war with Iran is a war for Israel, no doubt about it. The reality is America has no beef with Iran and doesn’t want war with it, and everyone here knows it. Ron Paul is right on that one, too: if we (and South Korea) could learn to live with a North Korean nuke, surely the world will learn to accommodate an Iranian nuke, assuming they’re even after one (as they indeed seem to be).
Those who are against Iran having a nuke should insist that Israel be deprived of her nukes, a la South Africa. That will dial down the regional tension considerably.
Thanks – very interesting.
This video is another example of overwhelming Propaganda trying to glue a label on Ron Paul’s back.
“OMG, mommy!!!! , he called Israel an apartheid state”.
” But honey, calm down, he didn’t really said it”.
“Oh ,he said it, he said it, he said it!!!! How dare he spoil my perfect Santa Day?? How dare? I know , independent thinking is not my priority, mommy , but still…. I may join IDF army.”
Oh sweety, you like your pedicure/manicure/tanning/makeup/hairdo/designerclothes too much.
You won’t last too long in the Army. ”
“You are right, mommy. Look, I just looove this new LLohan’s dress and hairdo. Magnificent. I want the same”. I want the same. I want it.”
“Oh honey, you will get it, and sorry about this Ron Paul thing.
Don’t let it bother it too much. Your head is so small ,and oh so pretty. Just relax, watch some TV. Do you want mommy to bring you some milk and cookies? Mommy will run to bring it for you.”
the underlying message read:
Ron Paul. He will even make your goyish-daughter cry on Christmas morning!

Bingo.
Prof Finkelstein called, ( rightly so) , a crying Canadian-German girl ,from the famous video: “Crocodile tears”, a” moral imbecile”.
I think the same name could be used for this blond girl from the video.
It does takes a “moral imbecil” to support , nowadays blindly Israel, not to see atrocities that are committed daily towards Palestinians.
And this women is an adult, a student on a pretty well known University , with an access to all info reg. the world.
I love that video. My favorite part is the end where he says “I’ve never been in a crowd like this, they’re nuts”
That’s part of the problem. These people, these Israeli-firsters, they’re nuts. Many Jewish people support Israel for obvious reasons. Many Christian fundamentalists support Israel due to 19th and 20th century Zionist-funded interpretations (Scofield and Darby bibles) creating the rapture and building a case for suckers to support endless wars and Zionism so they’ll get raptured. Ironically, a lot of them could care less about the fate of the Jews in this end-times scenario (convert or suffer the consequences). Most of them have no Idea that many Israelis are atheists. Or that 10% of the Palestinians are Christians. Or that Palestine was 40% Christian in the early 20th century until the Zionist genocides. Mormons support Israel because of the Judeophilia built into their religion. Several other Christian sects and cults support Israel because of the Judeophilia that’s been added to their faiths for the past 3 centuries (with a strong emphasis on the Zionist infiltration of their faiths in the 19th and 20th centuries).
The US supports Israel for various reasons. Former Cold War strategy, international finance/corporate influence, powerful lobbies, blackmail, etc. The media supports Israel for all of the above reasons. The sheeple support Israel because they don’t know any better. If the sheeple find out the truth, they won’t support Israel. Israel is not an oasis of peace in the middle east, Zionists didn’t scratch a desert and make a garden, Israel’s history is mostly a 20th century fabrication, Israel is not the Israel from scripture, Israel is not the only democracy in the ME nor is it a democracy, Israel’s existence is only threatened by Israel themselves, Israel’s wars were all jokes and their army is also a joke. Their army is not moral, they are immoral amateurs with fancy expensive weapons. Israel is a danger to the US national security. Israel uses Americans, they don’t like Americans. Israel is a parasite on a US host. Criticism of Israel and Zionism, even being anti-Zionist is not anti-Semitic no matter who tries to tell you it is. MLK Jr was wrong to say that it was. Apartheid, ethnic cleansing, genocide, history altering with propaganda, blood-thirsty corporations, scams, land theft, war criminals, murderers…. Usual deal.
Anybody who supports this is nuts.
Oh ,this video “crocodile tears” is a hit all over the world. Love it.
What’s interesting that those young women ( the one from NF’s video and the one from RP’s Xmas gift) are both CRYING.
Like little, spoiled brats (nuts) ,who are upset that somebody dares to say/write something they don’t like .
I mean they must be in their 20′s. They are not babies. Grow up.
It is pathetic to see like some people really think that the word should revolve around them. Otherwise boo and hoo. Weep, weep.
Here is a great video/interview with prof Finkelstein ,in which he talks about the “crocodile tears” episode, (first few minutes).

It seems to endemic to the Zionist movement. There was also that video with that gal crying ‘Leave Israel alone’. That one was almost as entertaining as the ‘crocodile tears’ piece starring Norm. I was also struck by all of the crying eyes during the evacuation of the illegal settlements in Gaza. Even the IDF warriors were bawling away (given their showing in Lebanon a little later, they probably did have something to cry about). Or imagine this: hophni, eee and witty slobbering away as they vigorously pound away at the key board.
“There was also that video with that gal crying ‘Leave Israel alone’.”
Was that one real? I never knew if it was a parody or genuine.
Heh heh, I can assure you it was a parody. There was a young fellow, slightly unbalanced, who made a hysterical crying video telling people to “Leave Britney Spears alone.” It’s worth watching. Then this young lady made one about Israel, using the same language, gestures and so on.
It was definitely a parody Donald,
If you listen to the Britney version and Israel version, it’s almost verbatim.
Thanks guys. Too bad the girl in this particular video is apparently for real.

What’s unique in the Ron Paul phenomenon, is how he is uniting Republicans, Independents and Democrats to join and support his cause. Something that Scott McConnell mentioned here years ago. And so many Democrats, as seen from Lizzy’s post yesterday, are very freaked out about it.
I have friends in NY who were Democrats and are enthusiastically supporting him. Strange times. Washington should be worried that their days of corruption are coming to an end.

Be a Christian zionist, support Christian zionists , be open and very vocal about it , nad voila , you go up, up and up. Not too much else is reqired.
You don’t know who this guy Clay Johnson is?
He may be (probably is) pure hasbara, pretending to be Ron Paul’s supporter and posting those anti-Semitic posters just to aggrivate some people.
Gellian, that’s because Israel and the lobby here have their digital rolodex operating overtime. You can tell from the commenters where fans/followers are listed that the majority of these guys have 1 or 2 fans. They’re new to the blog or site. And they’re relentless. They don’t respond to anyone’s comment. They issue ad hominems. (And Happy New Year to you, too, Phil.)
Well, in fairness to Ron Paul’s enemies, many of them are right in pointing out that a lot of his support is coming from people that are anti-Israel (i.e. against the permanent Likudist incarnation of Zionism that’s been on offer for the last forty years).
The amazing thing is that pointing this out doesn’t do the pro-Zionist crowd any favors, because it’s the ultimate chance to see that Zionism as it’s turned out is a philosophy that’s antithetical to what most Americans actually want.
So by supporting Ron Paul on this issue, Americans are, perhaps coincidentally, actually looking out for their own best interests!
Gellian,
“So by supporting Ron Paul on this issue, Americans are, perhaps coincidentally, actually looking out for their own best interests!”
I think that is what’s fueling it. The disappointment in Obama is deep, far deeper than I think his team realize. It’s two things: a sense of betrayal, and an issue of ‘how could I have been so stupid’. Throw that on top of the economy, and you get you get a desperation that doesn’t give a SFF about comments made 15-20 years ago. The economy was clicking along then too. What good does that do us now.
But war with Iran will mean that even those who still have a job, probably tw0 and three jobs, will have to choose between food or gas. The transportation cost of food will soar. Europe pays horrendous gas prices but it’s 50 countries/territories. We’re the same size as greater Europe, but we have people who drive half-way across a state to work.
If you want to turn an animal into a killer, corner him. I cannot for the life of me understand why the Powers That Be in Israel do not understand consequences, why they never think past their noses. No one with a shred of sense here wants war with Iran, and everyone I know knows that Israel wants this war, is pushing it. Some want it to get Muslims, some want to protect Israel, some are appalled that we are repeating Iraq, but it’s known, it’s Israel’s war. If a bomb lands here, if Americans get their first taste of what war really is, the despair and catastrophic destruction, they will turn on Israel and, by extension, Jews in a New York minute.
These cretins are playing with nuclear war. Maybe it’s time to put the dull & boring WASPs back in power; at least they managed the Cold War. ;-)
sht, id wanna cry to if someone gave me a ron paul book for christmas…
This is almost as good as the “Leave Britney alone!” video.

This video tells me the kind of man Dr. Paul is. I contend that it is impossible for someone like this to be a racist:

Thanks for that, C&D, it confirms he’s just a straight up genuine guy, and what you see is what you get.
Unfortunately, he’s also a politician looking for votes. That has been damaging to his own integrity in making wrong and foolish decisions in pursuit of office.
Nobody is squeaky clean. Perhaps all of us have a past that has its good, its bad, and its ugly.
Idiotic response!
I really appreciate Ron Paul’s presence and contribution to the debate. It is great when taboo statements of fact get expressed.
I don’t think Ron Paul is a racist. (But if you are a racist, he is certainly the candidate for you.) But I really doubt whether the story in the slick SuperPAC ad is true. I am not saying it is false, but just that there is a good chance it is at least highly embellished.
If you actually watch the C-Span video you see Ron Paul getting teary-eyed while hearing this ad played. Ron Paul is about as poor a speaker and actor as there is. I highly doubt he is faking anything. And I would venture to say your doubts seem less based on any sort of facts as opposed to a personal prejudice against the man and what he stands for.
Thanks for calling me personally prejudiced against the man. That is quite funny. Words matter – my point was that the ad COULD be largely fictitious. Which means it COULD be true. Some factors for this belief:
* Ron Paul is NOT behind the ad in any way so it has nothing to do with him faking it. In fact, Ron Paul has no memory of the event. What could he be faking?
* Some SuperPAC is behind the ad. And it is not a simple ad, it is annoyingly and sentimentally produced, with that cheesy emotional manipulation.
* The human memory is incredibly flawed. And this was 40 years ago.
Therefore, while I could never declare this to be false, I remain skeptical and would require further proof before I believe it. Frankly, it is irrelevant to me since i don’t think Ron Paul is a racist and, even though he has to answer for his newsletter and some policy positions, I see it all as a sideshow. I am too amazed by his foreign policy pronouncements.
Bullshit!
She acts as if someone has touched her … you know.
This video discourages me. The Palestinians are totally screwed, if a certain amount of Israel supporters have a disorder like she obviously has. I allready know a lot who have (not all in the same way) and I honestly [!] don’t mean this as an insult.
These histrionic crying jags are symptoms of the Jerusalem Syndrome — look it up. Christian fundamentalists are especially prone to the derangement. This is a psychiatric issue.
From my experience it goes more into pathological lying, word twisting and an accusation of antisemitism that is more irrational than antisemitism itself.
All the Paul haters, probably don’t have anything to worry about if there is anything true to this:

Basically, the results for the Iowa caucus are tallied by an Israeli defense firm. You trust that? If true, why does Israel dictate so many critical aspects of our society? That’s partially sarcastic, you know the answer to that.
Her reaction exhibits denial on so many levels.
She doesn’t refute the sugegstion that Israel is an apartheid state, she’s just really upset that someone cared to mention it.
Equally telling is how oblivious she it to the fact that while she’s celebrating Chrtismas, ISrael is puttign out commercials condeming Jews for participating in it. So while she defends Israel, Israel is ridiculing her.
What a tragic indictment of Zionism.
I suggest Adam and Phil send Ms. Schrader a copy of the Goldstone Report as a late Christmas present. If nothing else, she certainly seems to know a lot about viral marketing.
