NPR political expert calls Joe Lieberman a ‘moderate’ — unlike Republican extremists

Much of what is wrong– or as the anthropologists say, “culturally bound”– in the mindset of the liberal mainstream media is manifest in a statement by NPR’s “political junkie” Ken Rudin on Morning Edition today:

Jon Huntsman did the old John McCain strategy of missing, bypassing Iowa completely, hoping to make a big deal in New Hampshire.  Of course it worked for John McCain, who did it both in 2000 and 2008, won New Hampshire both. He’s also possibly emulating Wesley Clark and Joe Lieberman, other kind of moderate guys–not that Jon Huntsman’s a moderate, but compared to the rest of the field he is– who missed, bypassed Iowa and went to New Hampshire and were never heard from again.

P.S. Re moderate Lieberman’s run in 2004, as Janny Scott reported in the Times:

In the depths of that winter leading into the primaries, Mr. Lieberman was increasingly at odds with the left wing of his party — and much of the party irreconcilably at odds with him.

He had presented himself as the heir to the centrist legacy of former President Bill Clinton, only to be ridiculed by the antiwar left as “Bush Lite.” He attacked fellow Democrats as extremists. He tirelessly defended the war in Iraq to voters too angry about the war to want to listen. Having started the race as the best known candidate, he placed a dismal fifth in the New Hampshire primary. A week later, he quit.

Lieberman endorsed John McCain for president in 2008.

Lieberman is a loathsome creature, an extreme settler-minded Zionist that who has provided political cover for Israel and was influential in stoking the fears of an Islamic jihad against the West making it more palatable to back Israel instead. His backing of McCain in the last Presidential election was beyond dispicable.

Lieberman the warmonger a “moderate” right. Ever hear Ken Rudin say anything critical of Israel of the Israeli lobby of US foreign policy against Iran. No no no Ken Rudin is in lock step.

Diane Rehm lost their screnner Dorie Anderson who was with them for at least 10 years that I am aware. Dorie allowed callers for all points of view through and had no gender bias. They have a new male screener who if you listen to the show has very strong biases. This morning during the international hour he did not allow one woman caller through. As if women do not have opnions about foreign policy etc. Extrmely gender biased. Diane Rehm said a very stupid thing this morning. When they were talking about the violence in Baghdad she said that violence is going “back to what it was originally”. What the hell does that mean? They have yet to have Flynt or Hillary Mann Leverett on about Iran. There must be huge new road blocks.

I want to find out what happenned to Dorie Anderson at the Rehm show. She allowed callers through that ssked tough questions about the Israeli Palestinian conflict and US foreign policy. Seems to be some effort to close down those doors.

NPR has become a joke. This morning on the Weekly News Roundup with Diane Rehm, the guests and Rehm were discussing the republican presidential candidates. Everyone of the candidates with the glaring exception of Ron Paul, was discussed. The guests make a joke of what they call a “conspiracy theory” about the lack of discussion of Ron Paul, but guess what, it is a conspiracy. There could be no other way to interpret what is a determination to avoid all discussion of Dr. Paul. These people are employees of the news organizations they represent and I am convinced thery have been given instructions to avoid the topic of Ron Paul. If not, they would probably be fired. It would be funny were it no so terribly disturbing and it makes one wonder who is so afraid of Ron Paul?

Its “moderate” to also advocate giving the government the power to “turn off” the internet…. or supporting telecom immunity, torture, rendition and everything in the Patriot Act.
