Uniformed corporal’s criticism of Iran attack breaks off on CNN mid-sentence

Early returns and polling data last night suggested that Ron Paul might win the Iowa caucuses, and it was interesting to watch the media response. Chris Matthews, for instance, spoke of Paul’s support from people in uniform and then launched an attack on the neoconservatives for their mad program of war. (Thus serving my theory that Paul’s success gives center-left Dems political capital to speak out in the mainstream.)

And on CNN, Dana Bash, at Paul hq, interviewed a corporal in uniform who is about to do another tour of Afghanistan.

Jesse Thorsen: “I’m really excited about a lot of his ideas, especially when it comes to bringing the soldiers home. I’ve been serving for ten years now and all ten years of those have been during wartime. I’d like to see a little peace-time army.”

Bash asked about the claim by opponents that Ron Paul’s foreign policy ideas are “very dangerous” for this country. Thorsen was eloquent:

“Well I think it would be even more dangerous to start nitpicking wars with other countries. Someone like Iran… Israel’s more than capable–“

At this point, the video feed stuttered and then went dead. Wolf Blitzer said that they would catch up with Thorsen later. If CNN did do so, I didn’t see it. Though Anderson Cooper later joked that it was a conspiracy. Apparently some Paul supporters did not think this was a joke. (To be clear, I thought this was a technical glitch.) More at mediate. Including controversy over a man in uniform expressing political views.

Perhaps. But they never came back to him later.
Ron Paul did give him a voice later in one of his rallies.

Glad you watched the Hardball show last night. Lots of interesting comments. Not much on the “sharp distinction” between Rep Paul and the Republican candidates and President Obama on foreign policy. Although Joe Scarborough did say something like we may get a Republican that has more “foreign policy restraint”

This morning on the Diane Rehm show’s one hour coverage of the Iowa caucus not one of their guest which included David “Axis of evil” Frum, Chris Cilizza, Mara Liasson, Frank Luntz they completely avoided Rep Pauls “sharp distinction” when it comes to US foreign policy. In fact I believe it was Chris Cilizza said that there was no “sharp distinction” between the candidates. The guest and Diane Rehm let that very false statement stand.

I had posted a bunch of questions at Dianes show website and on Face book about the “sharp distinction” challenging Cilizza’s comment and also asking Frank Luntz and David Frum how they would “spin, brand, manipulate” this push for sanctions and military aciton against Iran based on unsubstantiated claims promoted by Israel and the I lobby in congress? Bomb Iran for Peace? Just how will tey brand this aggression? Christians for bombing Iran for Peace?

Diane did ask Luntz an interesting spin on my question asking him how Republican candidates should go after Obama. Luntz verly softly said Obama’s Achiles heel is “accountability”. That the Republican candicates should focus on this lack of accountability…apoligize for mistakes and then move on. Amazing that Obama is put in the situation of accepting responsibilty for the Bush administraitons war. Although the fact that he , the congress (oh yeah many of them went along with it) and the Dept of Justice took accountability for the invasion off the table as well as allowoing the banksters off the hook?

Think you would be interested in the hour. Also the other day on where the US is headed internationall in 2012 only one sentence in the whole hour about Israel. Diane said maybe Obama “should get tough on Israel” Not much of a response from the guest. Lots of bad bad bad Iran mantras repeated in that hour

Whoa just watched the clip. Bullshit they lost that connection. Dana thought she had a believer the 9/11 tatoo on his neck You can just see the behind the scenes “cut cut cut” hand signals “Israel is more than capable” cut cut. How many other times did they lose the connection last night?

Maybe Amy Goodman, Dylan Ratigan or Rachel Maddow (the wall of silence or full support no matter what is coming down a bit on her program) would follow up with an interview with this soldier.

This dude is gonna be in BIG trouble….this is a major no no
