Dershowitz claims he ‘exposed’ CAP and Rosenberg, and calls out Barbra Streisand

Today in the New York Times, the Emergency Committee for Israel targets funders of liberal thinktanks that have criticized Israel. Alan Dershowitz did the same thing earlier this week– calling out Penny Pritzker and Barbra Streisand, saying they support one of those thinktanks, Media Matters.

Here is the radio interview in which Alan Dershowitz vowed to get MJ Rosenberg fired by Media Matters. It’s dated Sunday Feb. 26, on Aaron Klein Investigative Radio.

In the interview, Dershowitz claims that “we exposed” the Center for American Progress and Media Matters — though the smear campaign was launched by Josh Block with the help of Politico last December. Dersh was nowhere in the limelight. Evidently he is taking credit for something he didn’t do– or maybe when he says “we” he means the Jewish right? Dersh:

Media Matters… recently hired a man named MJ Rosenberg, who is an absolute anti-Israel bigot…. They hired him specifically to be involved with this [Israel Palestine] issue… with the issue of stopping the war with Iran. They have turned the corner and become a virulently anti Israel organization…

Klein asks Dershowitz, a professed “liberal,” — doesn’t he think “there’s a larger problem within the US progressive establishment,” witness the Center for American Progress, which also had writings critical of Israel? Dershowitz says No.

They have, to use the Hebrew center made t’shuva– the Center– they have apologized for the blogs issued by some of their bloggers, they have promised not to allow any such blogs to be used again. So I make a sharp contrast. Once we exposed the Center, they really did the right thing, whereas Media Matters is unapologetic…

And Dersh says that Progressive Except Palestine is a principle he means to enforce:

…There are many progressives who support Israel and it has to be kept that way. We can’t let people think there’s any inherent lack of progressiveness in Israel… There are progressives who support Israel and some progressives who don’t, and those who don’t ought to be exposed.

Dershowitz says he is targeting donors to Media Matters, including Penny Pritzker, George Soros, and Barbra Streisand.

I think a lot of the donors to Media Matters just don’t know what has happened…. I don’t know that Barbra Streisand is aware of the anti-Israel tack that Media Matters, to which her foundation contributes, has gone.

Barbra Streisand???

Back in the 1950’s or 1960’s, she dated the actor Omar Sharif, originally from Egypt. When the Egyptian press ran the story, Sharif almost had his Egyptian citizenship revoked because Streisand was a vocal supporter of Israel, which was in a state of war with Egypt.

Dershowitz is attempting to twist the arm of Streisand, a Hollywood liberal and supporter of the Democrats, to cut off funds to Media Matters. Dershowitz might very well fail: after a long and successful career in entertainment, Streisand is independently wealthy, and may dig in her heels.

The Dersh will get what Rupert Murdoch got . They both ruled by fear. Nobody would touch them. They both went too far. Murdoch got his comeuppance last year. The Dersh’s awaits.

The game is up for Rupert Murdoch. The head of News Corp has held sway over Britain’s media industry for a generation. Prime ministers have feared and feted him. He has outwitted regulators and outgunned rivals. Now, suddenly, it is all unravelling. The media mogul has lost his touch. These things happen.
News International, Mr Murdoch’s London-based company, is under criminal investigation for alleged telephone hacking and illegal payments to police officers. Scotland Yard has 50 officers on the case. Executives have been accused, under the protection of parliamentary privilege of perverting the course of justice. The allegations about the activities at the tabloid News of the World have stirred a wave of public revulsion. With advertisers threatening a boycott and the prime minister endorsing calls for a public inquiry, the company has announced the closure of the best-selling 168-year-old Sunday title.
There was a time when the businessman who built News Corp would have gripped such a crisis at the outset.
Watching these politicians throw bricks has been to realise that the News Corp spell has been broken. There has always been something faintly hysterical about the charge that British politics has been held helpless hostage to the Murdoch empire. He has never been as powerful as his enemies imagined. For all that, it has been instructive to watch the fears of retribution draining away; and, with them, Mr Murdoch’s power.

Sickening: the progressives should fight back but will be too scared. Stalinism lives. Show trials live. Frodo dies.

“with the issue of stopping the war with Iran.”

” the” war with Iran?

Ugh, shouldn’t that be “a” war with Iran?
.

Intentional?
.
Absolutely.

THE VIEW OF AN ISRAELI: Israel’s bizarre decision to give up on education – and its future, by Ami Kaufman, +972 Magazine, 12/03/11

(excerpts) Last week I came across a disturbing story, one of many recently, where Haredi school boys threw stones at secular Jewish school girls. [Because] The schoolgirls were singing. . .
. . . what bothered me more about this particular incident was the age of the perpetrators. These were young boys or teenagers, already well versed on the issues of female singing and its dangers.
What this incident shows more than anything else, is the education factor and how it will change this country. And it shows how incidents like the one above are going to happen again, and again and again.
Much has been said on the demographics of the Haredi community and the pace at which it grows. But not many know of how huge an impact Haredi education already has on this state.
These Haredi rock-throwing boys learn in a Haredi school.
That’s because there are four sectors to the Israeli education system: State, State-Religious, Arab, and ultra-Orthodox (Haredi). The major problem with this is that the level of study in the Arab and Haredi schools is much lower than in the state schools. And what makes the problem even worse, is that the level in the state schools themselves has never been lower. . .
