On Iran, Obama’s fmr national security adviser uses the new C-word (Contain)

This Washington Times interview with retired Marine Corps General Jim Jones will aggravate the soreness between Netanyahu and Obama over Obama’s refusal to push military response. Jones utterly approves the policy, and hints at de-nuclearizing the region:

He also said that a nuclear-armed Iran would be highly undesirable but not necessarily impossible to deal with.

“You would have to think that, on the basis of historical evidence of nation-states once they acquire a [nuclear] capacity, we’ve been able to contain them,” the former national security adviser said.

“It’s not something that I think you would want to do,” he said. “We’d like to see proliferation go the other way. We don’t want more nuclear-weapons capable countries, and in Iran’s case, it’s particularly problematic because they traditionally export terror.”

Surely there are diplomatic ways to pressure Israel to divest itself of its nukes. What about an international conference in which all the other nuclear powers agree to disarm a substantial proportion of their nuclear weapons, conditional on Israel also joining the program?

Phil did you read this over at Race for Iran?

Have heard Jones on several national programs talk like this about Iran

I have yet to hear anyone in MSM talk about how JFK tried to stop Israel from getting the bomb as US regime is now doing with Iran. Why can’t we even talk about this in the MSM here? Israel got it anyway–a month after JFK was murdered. Israel has yet to join the NNPT. At least Iran has already joined the NNPT. It’s amazing that the lone superpower cannot get Israel to even join the NNPT when it has 200-400 nukes, and subs from Germany (at German taxpayer expense) ready for nuke tipped missiles, while Iran has some fast little speedboats. It’s a giant joke on all of us, like the Israeli celebration of Independence Day sans any mention of the Nakba. Bibi says each generation of Goys harbors Jew-haters, and hence that is why his Israel exists, and must continue to exist as is (caveat emptor?). It the program for this Israel spiel was a video game, nobody would buy it as it’s too ridiculous.

“it’s particularly problematic because they traditionally export terror”

Traditionally? Why do people say such things? Why is Israel and their media friends always saying that Hezbollah and Hamas are “Iranian terror proxies?”

It’s the media and hopelessly biased ‘scholars’ who have exaggerated their relations. Training, funding, and support does not add up to ‘exporting terror’. Most of the world doesn’t consider either to be a terrorist organization anyways. Hezbollah is respected in countries that consider them terrorists. They’re probably only considered terrorists because Israel cried and told the US/UK/Canada/etc. to and sometime in the future that might change. I also can’t find any evidence saying that Iran created Hezbollah, just biased scholars and the typical media crackpots.
