Martyred leader of the Jihadi Chicken Brigade targeted by Israel in Gaza, Palestine.
This story broke last week. Al Mezan Centre for Human Rights: Israeli Aircraft Attack Poultry and Cattle Farm:
At approximately 1:10 am on Sunday 3 June 2012, Israeli aircraft fired two missiles at a poultry and cattle farm and a water well located about 1,500 meters southwest of the Bedouin village northwest of Beit Lahiya in North Gaza district. As a result, the farm; the well—which supplies water to 50 dunams of agricultural land—and the building housing it; a room made of sheet metal, about 470 square meters in area; a storage room of ten square meters; and an electric generator, were completely destroyed; and 29 sheep and 4,300 chicks were killed. No casualties or injuries were reported.
According to Al Mezan’s field investigations, the farms belong to Faraj Hussein Abu Rabee’, 42. The farm is located in an agricultural area. The attack was massive and sudden and terrified women and children in the area.
The gruesome attack generated some creativity on twitter:
Army of volunteer duck reinforcements.
Disclaimer: Our heartfelt sympathies to Faraj Hussein Abu Rabee for the loss of his farm and the destruction of his poultry. We also mean no disrespect to the seriousness of what the Goldstone Report described as a war crime, the 30,000 chickens purposely decimated during the ’08-’09 Gaza onslaught.

*Coughs* spelling of my name *coughs* not an egotist, really.
When I was in Israel, and then traveled to the occupied West Bank, and Jerusalem, I couldn’t help but notice the cultural differences between Jews and Arabs.
Arabs were well-mannered, well-behaved and had principles and certain nobility.
Israeli Jews, however, were constantly looking for a Combinah, a way to get something for nothing. The pushing and shoving, the rude line-cutters, the lack of manners, the shouting, all made them look like they were born in a jungle.
And yet Ehud Barak, like the typical arrogant guy who’s compensating for his deficiencies keeps boasting that Israel is a villa in a jungle.
Where’s the villa?
To use another metaphor, you can put as much makeup as you want on a pig, it’ll remain a pig.
That’s why Palestinians lost their homeland, because they are too principled, too patient, too tolerant and too trusting in humans’ good nature. And before they knew it, it was too late and the Balfour Declaration was a done deal.
Annie:
I’m sorry this post has received little attention, but it has resonated deeply with me.
I constantly battle with Christian Zionists who try to explain how the situation in Gaza isn’t so bad compared to China and Iran etc and how we should be focusing elsewhere.
This post makes two points:
1: How the people of Gaza and the West Bank are subjected to a life long torture in forms of food and water deprivation. Nothing better than sadistic human suffering to force them to leave or kill themselves eh?
2: The tenacity and will of the Palestinian people to endure this humiliation and suffering and rise above with humour and wit.
I’m humbled. Truly.
We will win. No platitudes here. We’ll win.
Excellent! Humorous parody that can make a serious statement is so rare. Raising awareness about the situation in Palestine is so important! Congrats!
