In big ad buy, ‘Committee for Israel’ urges US attack on Iran

In May Bill Kristol, chairman of the Emergency Committee for Israel and a key Romney supporter and insider who helped select Sarah Palin in the last general election cycle, said:

I’m happy to sit here and agree with President Obama [on Iran] to a considerable degree, at least as the policy has moved in the last two or three years

Well the Emergency Committee issued the above ad last week pushing Obama to attack Iran now, then aired it during Sunday shows yesterday in key locations. ECI:

In light of yet another failed round of nuclear talks with Iran this week, the Emergency Committee for Israel ad “Time To Act,” which began airing last week in New York and Washington, DC, will begin appearing this weekend on broadcast and cable in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, with dozens of spots featured in major markets during Sunday shows, Major League Baseball games, and cable news.

ECI’s executive director, Noah Pollak, said: “President Obama says we must prevent the Iranian regime from getting nuclear weapons. Yet talking isn’t accomplishing this goal. Today, Iran has six times more enriched uranium than when President Obama came into office — enough for five nuclear bombs. We fear that the Obama administration is now intent on kicking the can down the road past the election. The Emergency Committee urges the president to live up to his promise to stop Iran. Don’t delay. Don’t ask others to do our job for us. It’s time to act.”

A unique and revelatory moment of irony is upon us when a group calling itself the Emergency Committee for Israel issues this sentence about the United States attacking Iran: “Don’t ask others to do our job for us. It’s time to act.” Remember, you are anti-Semitic if you say that the pro-Israel community is warmongering on Iran, and never mind that the self-proclaimed “pro-Israel wing of the pro-Israel community” is issuing these calls within the establishment discourse.

To its credit, J Street is making some of my points about Kristol and the hard-core lobby:

Don’t let the people that brought you the war in Iraq fool us again — share this video with your friends and help stop the drums of war!

This card is not being played as much as it used to be played but the inference is still there.

That ad is about as aggressive as it gets. Who makes that calculation that Iran has enough enriched uranium to make 5 nuclear bombs? Bill Kristol or Pam Geller?

I remember hearing then Senator Obama saying that Iran had a nuclear weapons program during the campaign…what an ass kisser

“In light of yet another failed round of nuclear talks with Iran this week, ”

Engineered by Bibi’s people.

P5+1 = O. When the P5+1 decided that that they were unwilling to negotiate with Iran at all before they came to the table (Israel made sure of that) and are unwilling to accept yes as an answer… the outcome had all ready been pre determined before they pretended to sit down

i googled the coverage of this ad and look what i found, from wapo.
