Announcing a new partnership between Mondoweiss and Salon

Just a quick note to say we’re very excited to announce a new partnership between Mondoweiss and, one of the leading websites for news and analysis on the web.

We’re sure many of you already visit Salon on a daily basis to read Glenn Greenwald, Alex Pareene and Steve Kornacki, and starting today Salon will feature occasional Mondo posts on the site. The first post is this great piece by Ira Glunts on the bias in Israeli courts. Please be sure to go by and check it out and follow Mondoweiss on

Wow. Excellent!! Great work, you all.

Is it possible to describe some of the discussions that lead to this? Did Salon sense an opening of debate on this and seek to increase their “footprint” on the issue?

Interesting and happy development. And congrats to Ira on taking the Neil Armstrong role…

Yes, I agree. This is a huge step forward. Doubtless there will be countless campaigns to shut this co-operation down, maybe several attempts are starting to mount even as we speak.

But this is a recognition that change always comes from the grassroots. I don’t always agree with what is written here, but I am always much more intellectually stimulated by the open debate. And the last thing American debate on Middle East needs now is more conformity, more walking the thin red lines already set out to us by the Alan Dershowitzes of the world.

When are we going to see them on MSMBC or CNN or hear them on NPR?
When, when,when!…..the debate on Mondo is where it’s at….the whole Israel and I/P issue is here and wide open…has been ahead of the curve since the beginning.

RT would be a good place to start. Then maybe Democracy Now!. They both have Glenn Greenwald on frequently.

I am ecstatic to see Mondoweiss gaining a second platform. Salon is a quality website, too.

And congratulations to Ira Glunts for having the first Mondoweiss article to be posted on Salon. We are proud of you.

Congratulations, Phil, Adam, Alex, Allison, Annie, Ira, Kate, Max, Matthew and other writers who have contributed to Mondoweiss.

For those of us who have seen this information source grow from its very beginning, and watched it battle against unfair attacks from both right and left, this is very satisfying, so it must be even more exciting for those of you who have worked so hard to bring it about.

    Thanks for all you do.

Fitting that this is announced one blog entry above “Responding to ‘the Atlantic’ smear on Mondoweiss,” eh?

added exposure is great but be very careful not to give any potential “partner” any ability to affect your content

The Neil Armstrong analogy reminds me of an alternate speech that hardly anyone knew about at the time. One hopes that those taking this “small step for a man” will not rest in peace if oxygen supply starts running low in their new alien surroundings.

Mondo going mainstream. Terrific news. It’s recognition of the great writers, researchers and thinkers on Mondoweiss.

    Well done!!

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out — but it’s hard to see a down side.

I agree Colin–it’s hard to see a downside at this juncture in time, and it sure will be interesting to see how this new partnership plays out in various ways, especially Mondoweiss content, including the daily comment array.

Kudos to Phil and Adam and the whole Mondo staff of writers and behind-the-scene folks who made this happen.

I see there’s 12 comments under Ira’s article on Salon, and some regulars there are really annoyed at this new partnership, while others are elated:

It’s been a long journey and often painful for you, Phil, as we witnessed here. Still, you found the courage to plod along. Congratulations! To you, Adam and your team.

“We’re sure many of you already visit Salon on a daily basis to read Glenn Greenwald,” Oh yeah for years. Read Joan Walsh too.

Whee hee. Maybe just maybe Chris Matthews, Al Sharpton, Lawrence O’Donnell and other MSNBC host who have Joan Walsh on will get brave enough to have you guys on. Now if it happens have the humility and integrity to mention how you folks have jumped on the I/P social justice issue the last 5- 10 years. A good thing. But do not pretend that this social justice issue began with you. Be honest about how this new and welcome movement amongst many in the Jewish community is a new and welcome movement. Please do not allow your egos to get in the way. Let’s hope this Salon recognition gets you guys on MSNBC. Allowing the public to get that there has been a real shift in the Jewish community as well as others becoming much more aware of the facts. Will continue to push at those sites for Mondoweiss and what you folks are doing here and elsewhere. Breaking through…one step at a time

The thin edge of the wedge – this is great news.

Maybe a link to the NYT somewhere down the line :-)

Sounds good. The only 2 blogs I regularly read are Glenn Greenwald’s and this one (all Phil Weiss columns and some of the others, too, of course).
