When Jeffrey Goldberg is not enough (Lauder buys Israeli news org to present ‘Israel’s position’ to the world)

This is an epic struggle. “U.S. billionaire Ron Lauder to launch English-language Israeli news site. The new website would present Israel’s position to Jews around the world,” Haaretz’s Nati Tucker reports.

American businessman Ronald Lauder intends to acquire complete ownership of the Nana 10 website [linked to Channel 10 news] through his firm JCS, which operates Jerusalem Capital studios.

Along with several other American Jewish business figures Lauder also plans to establish a new website in English that would present Israel’s position to Jews around the world.

But why just to Jews? And who are those other American Jewish business figures? Thanks to Paul Mutter.

    Lauder isn’t aware of just about all major Western media organizations? How will his propaganda penetrate the din of pre-approved spin from the israeli lobby already flooding our media streams?

    radii: apparently just ignoring the Occupation isn’t enough for these guys.

    They need to glorify it and justify it.

    By the way; how will Seth Klarman feel now? He invested in his own hasbara channel and even hired the ex-editor of JPost to do so. Klarman, of course, is a big hedge fund guy who has talked about how ‘these times remind me of the 1930s’(of yes he said it).

    He has also talked about he threat of ‘radical Islam’ to ‘Western civilization’.
    He’s the next Sheldon Adelson. Lauder’s got a rep for being a bit of a leftie, though. He even went out and said the unsayable, namely that Bibi did nothing on the peace front at all and he was wrong to do so, which pissed Bibi off tremendously. And then some channel he owns in Israel documented Bibi’s luxorious lifestyle and his wife’s life as a modern-day Marie Antoinette.

    But now he is apparently going back to the fold.

  3. Not just to Jews, but they clearly consider it especially important to influence Jews because Jewish opponents are the hardest to deal with and the most effective in undermining their position. It’s extremely difficult if not altogether impossible to discredit them as “anti-Semites” and non-Jewish opponents who feel the need to do so can use them as cover against the accusation of “anti-Semitism” (by quoting them, associating themselves with them, etc.).
