During the Republican National Convention in Tampa, the daughter of pro-Israel billionaire Sheldon Adelson rammed into a Democracy Now producer and a cameraman, grabbing the news team’s camera and dropping it before retreating into her family’s private corporate suite. The altercation began after Democracy Now‘s Senior Producer Mike Burke trailed Sheldon Adelson and Karl Rove asking “Mr. Adelson, your thoughts on the Romney/Ryan ticket?” and “Mr. Adelson how much money are you going to spend on this election?” Adelson, who was in a wheelchair, said “no comment.” Seconds after a women who was later identified as Adelson’s daughter lunged into Burke and then ripped the Democracy Now camera from cameraman Hani Masood.
“After Sheldon Adelson’s daughter took our camera and threw it on the ground,” said Burke today during Democracy Now’s August 30 broadcast, “he was kind of urging us just to leave. And he made a comment saying he [Adelson] is funding all of this, as if that is a reason why we should not be questioning him.”

Later, Adelson’s daughter came out and apologized to the Democracy Now crew. But the use of force from Adelson’s entourage did not end then. Afterward, when Burke starting filing on his Android phone, an Adelson aide tried to take his phone.
Democracy Now also caught up with other critical billionaire backers to Republican leaning SuperPACS. Burke spoke with David Koch, billionaire supporter of Mitt Romney and former presidential candidate and religious-right hawk, Newt Gingrich. The high-ranking GOP officials were asked about the effects of unlimited secret campaign donations via Citizen United v. the Federal Elections Commission in this election cycle. Gingrich, after responding to Burke, proceeded to enter the corporate suite belonging to Adelson, an early donor to the Gingrich campaign.

Oh, you’re allowed to write it (them? There are lots of divine names in Hebrew and Arabic….) but to do so trivially is the issue. The word is supposed to not just be something for communication but also be the ‘thing itself’ in a sense, so you treat the Names like you’d treat the Divine – with a lot of respect and in proper holy context.
For example, if you were to make a mistake or misspell one of the Names you’re supposed to circle it then bury the page in sanctified ground. You don’t destroy it or ever let harm come to it.
That’s why you don’t use the whole or real Name casually in writing. How you treat the medium you write it on is very particular in Islam and Judaism.
…Or an actor/director. Take a look at Clint Eastwood’s speech where he talks to an empty chair pretending it’s obama. During his stream-of consciousness rant, to roaring applauds he declares, “we own this country,”–meaning we [the GOP] paid for it, so they get to do whatever they want.

I think you’re right about this and I think you’re you’re wrong about this. To be precise, you have a point — but you seem to be trying to go somewhere with it that isn’t valid.
Israel and organized crime share a common lack of moral scruple and a taste for duplicity. Inevitably, they are going to find themselves in the same fishing holes — and I’m confident they do cooperate.
However, I think people tend to assume the world is better run than it actually is. There is no SPECTRE. There’s no grand council and no man with the cat.

That’s true enough. And I was really using McBride’s comment more as a springboard rather than responding to anything he actually said.
At the same time, it is a general human tendency — and one that progressives are at least as prone to as any — to see in any system a conscious, corporate hand, deliberately weaving together all the strands to reach a (usually sinister) goal.
I think that’s a mistake, and misunderstands the nature of the world and its actors.

Insightful remarks — and, yes, I agree. To a considerable degree, successful tribes of all kinds are in part spontaneously self-organizing systems which develop (sprout) many links among nodes. The more linked nodes, the more effective the tribe in competition with other tribes.
But it is also true that Jews have developed social networking to a high degree of sophistication, employing many conscious techniques to amplify their power in relation to their numbers (think, for instance, of the neoconservatives, who have been wielding power in American foreign policy far out of proportion to their numbers).

I expressed curiosity in mapping out the known facts between some Israelis (some of them billionaires, like Marc Rich, Robert Maxwell (possibly assassinated by Mossad), Shaul Eisenberg, Bernard Madoff, Michael Milken, Leonid Nevzlin and Sheldon Adelson) and the highest levels of international organized crime — particularly on the plane of international high finance. I sense that there is a fascinating topic there to pursue and investigate, especially with Adelson now so prominently in the news and promising to spend as much as $100 million on the current election with the objective of pushing Americans into a war against Iran.

Perhaps Jews’ writing of ‘G_D’ or ‘g_d’ is more like Muslims writing ‘Allah (SWT)’ or saying ‘Allah subhanahu wa ta‘ala’ الله سبحانه و تعالى — both roughly ‘God, glory to Him, the exalted’. This indicates great respect for the Deity.
I don’t think one can equate writing ‘G_D’ with avoiding images of the Prophet Muhammad for the following reasons:
1) The Prophet is not divine and so can’t be compared with the Creator of the universe at all; and
2) not all Muslims do avoid images of the Prophet – you can see paintings of the Prophet in Shi‘a areas.
By the way, when Muslims write the Prophet’s name you will usually see Muhammad (SAW/SAWS) or Muhammad (PBUH). SAW(S) is an abbreviation for the Arabic صلى الله عليه وسلم ṣall’Allāhu ʿalayhi wa sallam, which means roughly “May God pray for/bless him and grant him salvation”, and PBUH is an abbreviation for the shorter and less complete English version, “Peace be upon him.”
His photos here, the images Democracy Now and the Associated Press memorialized, particularly Democracy Now, of Sheldon Adelson, I am just struck by how inhuman he looks, he looks like the walking dead. And after I write this, I immediately realize my error, the man is not even able to walk, he is in a wheel chair. That is what immorality does to a man, I think, it produces this in a man, perhaps that is what his daughter so despeately wants hidden from the world.

MY COMMENT: For what it’s worth, I read somewhere authoritative a couple or so years ago that some of Sheldon Adelson’s adopted children that he and his first wife Sandra raised in Massachusetts had problems with drug abuse/addiction. As I now recall it, when I read about this I got the impression that it was more than one of the three children (but not necessarily all three), but I can’t recall the wording.
There was no indication that the children of Sheldon Adelson and his second wife (Miriam) were similarly afflicted.
The source is not turning up right now on a Google search, but I’ll keep looking. There are a number of lengthy articles to go through.
