A monstrous little story that says it all

on 4 Comments

This short item from the Associated Press which appeared in The New York Times and Fox News speaks volumes about what Israel has become.  I do not know if it is completely or even partially accurate.  However, it is here in the Times and even if this particular event never happened as reported by Mr. Nabhani, it reflects how many people correctly view the “Jewish State.”

How sad, how horrible, how true?

Gaza: Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian Man

Published: November 5, 2012

A Palestinian in the Gaza Strip who died early Monday after he was shot by Israeli forces as he approached the border fence with Israel was mentally ill, his family said. Israeli forces shot the man, Ahmad Nabhani, 23, as he crawled toward the border on Sunday evening, partly concealed in a dried river bed, an Israeli military spokeswoman said. She said he ignored several warnings to stop. Mr. Nabhani later died of his wounds. “He was sick, he had a mental illness,” said Mr. Nabhani’s brother, Hazem, 27. He said his brother was being heavily medicated for depression and had approached the border fence three times previously. Each time, Israeli forces handed him back to Palestinian authorities, his brother said. “My brother didn’t understand anything,” he said. “Sometimes you’d speak to him and he wouldn’t understand. It is like he wasn’t there.”

I guess you mean Dick and Jane in America, a mere 98% of US folks.

Naturally, he wasn’t there because he’s an invented person. To most Americans too, the man was never there, always a mere negative abstraction; at most, even worse than he never was there.

Maybe one day his head will be on the other side of the buffalo nickel, or grinning doltish on a baseball cap?

Before we get too self-righteous, perhaps we should consider how US police deal with minorities with mental problems. I have linked to a video showing six Michigan police officers shooting a mentally disturbed black man with a knife 30 to 46 times, depending who is counting. He appeared to me to be backing away.

‘A little story that says it all”

Yes. That the IDF three times returned this unstable man without harming him.

That this unstable man was crawling through the underbrush in the dark and was shot and killed as he approached the security fence.

So how is the IDF culpable? Maybe I missed something.
