Demonstrations across the West Bank continued today in Hebron, Nablus, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Jenin, Toubas and other cities. The following is a summary:
Bethlehem: early in the morning, Israeli army raided Aida and Dheishe refugee camps in Bethlehem and arrested 18 Palestinians. Later in the day, several demonstrations took place. Those included a journalists’ protest in the city of Bethlehem to protest the killing of Palestinian journalists in Gaza and a demonstration called by the workers of the electricity company. Clashes also erupted near Masjed Belal Ben Rabah (Rachel’s Tomb) during which a 15-year-old boy was injured from a rubber coated steel bullet to his face. Flying checkpoints were set up later in the night in several locations in the area.
Hebron: early in the morning, the Israeli army raided the area and arrested 4 Palestinians. Demonstrations took place in the city of Hebron including a journalists’ demonstration and a women’s demonstration. Clashes erupted across the city and in several locations in the governorate, including Thahreyeh and Yatta. One protester was hit with a tear gas canister in his eye. He was evacuated to Almeezan Hospital in Hebron where he is with a critical injury to the eye.
Ofer Military Prison, Beitunya: clashes erupted between protesters and the army who fired tear gas, rubber coated steel bullets and live ammunition. Two protesters were injured from live ammunition and evacuated to Ramallah Hospital. Another protester was shot with rubber coated steel bullet in the head.
Nablus: Demonstrations took place today in Nablus, including a journalists’ protest. Later, hundreds protested at Huwara Checkpoint where they faced Israeli soldiers who fired an extensive amount of tear gas and rubber coated steel bullets. At least two protesters were injured from rubber coated steel bullets. Two protesters were reported to have been arrested.
Jerusalem: clashes erupted in Al-Issawiyeh between protesters and soldiers who used sound grenades to disperse protesters. Undercover police arrested one minor (12).
Clashes also erupted in Beit Ummar village, Edna village, Atara checkpoint near Bir Zeit and at Qalandia checkpoint, at least eight injuries were reported from rubber coated steel bullets and tear gas canisters.
