In the Washington Post, Dana Milbank praises South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham for badgering Chuck Hagel for his criticism of the Israel lobby for intimidating legislators:

Maybe Hagel was intimidated by the lobby?
At least Milbank is acknowledging that there’s a lobby. He’s part of it; here he is, honoring the political ideas of his daughter’s Israeli au pair 2 years ago– and saying Obama had blundered by speaking of the ’67 lines, thereby alienating Israeli opinion. As if we should base our policy on the views of a rightwing polity.
Dana Milbank attacks Walt and Mearsheimer on racialist grounds, saying that they are blue-eyed and have Germanic names, and he wonders about their motivation for saying what they do about the Israel lobby. He also says they have no idea how Washington works, then dismisses the idea that the attachment among Jews to Israel is a significant factor in policymaking, because while yes, Elliott Abrams and Douglas Feith care about Israel, Bush and Cheney are fervently behind Israel, too.

I blame the decline and fall of Washington Post on Warren Buffett. He’s a major owner and should have the werewithall to push the paper in a more sound direction on foreign policy.
Too bad he’s a suck-up to the establishment. WaPo has excellent economics journalists and better politics journalism by the day. But the foreign policy, especially on the Op-Ed page is a total disaster. It’s because of Fred Hiatt and his neocon buddies.
When will that paper be freed? I wager when the last Graham has died, and that’ll be some time. Meaning: the paper will face obscurity and will have to be sold off at some point.

The Hagel American Bolshevik Show trial was less crass than the Russians.
Lindsey Graham John Mcain and Ted Cruz could be nominated for an Oscar award for best actors in a stalinist style show trial, about a non existent influence lobby which has nothing to do with Israel. And the parody done by the SNL crew is second to none, it just hits it right between the gonads.
