’92d Street Y’ says Roger Waters appearance is cancelled — Updated

Roger Waters was scheduled to speak about his career on April 30th at the 92d Street Y in New York. From the 92d Street Y website:

Please note: This event has been cancelled. We will be issuing refunds to all ticket-holders.

Update: Frank Barat of the Russell Tribunal on Palestine says that Waters initiated the cancellation:

“Sadly, I have had to move my 92y interview to June 15th as I have a dress rehearsal of CaIra in São Paulo on the 30th April.”

We reported on the pushback against the event, which was sold out and scheduled for April 30, here. I think I was somewhat mocking of the opposition to the event. Evidently it was very effective indeed. I will update this post when I hear more.

Update: 92d Street Y has not responded to inquiries about the event. I changed my original headline which said that it has cancelled the event.

Warning. Do not touch the ideology as it is intellectually fragile and may break in your hands.

Unbelievable pathetic, but no suprise.

Censorship arising, one imagines, from big money and social power, is quite effective. You can lead a “Y” toward decency, but against such opposition, you cannot make her behave decently.

Good that the thing was, for a while, scheduled, because it permits us to make a small stink about the censorship.

I thought it was an April fool’s announcement at first. Maybe Mr. Waters and ‘Rev’ Tutu are studying the 6,000 dead Syrian statistic last month and wondering if was a typo? BDS or just BS?

I just called to order tickets. The box office told me HE cancelled. Is that true?
