People are stunned that Anthony Weiner has not dropped out of the NY mayor’s race over revelations that he continued sexting after losing his congressional seat two years ago over similar behavior. The royal family of the Democratic Party, the Clintons, are said to be urging Weiner to drop out–and Weiner’s wife Huma Abedin was a longtime aide to Hillary.
Here’s what I believe Anthony Weiner and Huma Abedin are thinking:
The Clintons are our role models, not our bosses.
Bill Clinton’s behavior with Monica Lewinsky was actually more shocking and egregious than Weiner’s latest sexting conduct. It took place in the Oval office with a White House intern. Weiner was engaged with someone on line and she didn’t work for him. Bill Clinton toughed his sex scandals out. He decided to hunker down, and he kept the presidency, albeit with some scars.
Hillary Clinton toughed it out and stood by her man, and look how she came out of it. She might be running for president next! Abedin is said to be calculating and ambitious. She and her husband are thinking: How are Anthony’s numbers? How long before he puts this behind him? What can I get out of this? How long before the press’s appetite for sensational details about private behavior are exhausted and we get back to the mayor’s race?
The Weiner-Abedins’ mistake here is that Bill Clinton was president and Anthony Weiner is running for mayor. If we’d known about Clinton’s behavior before he ran for president — the “bimbo eruptions” the Clinton campaign worked actively to suppress and that I believe Vincent Foster died over, once the Troopers decided to come forward in ’93 — we never would have elected him. Once he was in office, no Democrat wanted to get rid of him, it would have been too disruptive. So they overlooked behavior that was quite insulting to women.
Which brings me to the root of Weiner’s stubbornness. He feels that he gave up his congressional seat without a fight in 2011. Yes he lied and covered up, and was exposed and embarrassed, but he didn’t have to give up after the first round of punches. He deferred to the party bosses then. When he could have toughed that out and apologized and worn sackcloth and gotten over it and been the congressional Bill Clinton. He’s refighting that war now; and he will lose it.
Weiner’s a jerk of the first water—a jerkwater for short—but sexting has nothing to do with it. Who exactly is the victim of that “crime”? Who exactly has been harmed by that “lapse in judgment”? Perhaps you say his wife Huma Abedin, but if so how do you know that? And what business is it of yours anyway? Can you not easily imagine a circumstance in which, say, going out to play golf some afternoon would be a far graver marital betrayal than one-handed messaging? Only in the Land of the Prurient and the Home of the Pusillanimous would sexting rather than the [Israelization] of the mayoral race be considered appropriate grounds for hounding candidate Jerkwater out of office.
Bubba did get a raw deal out of the Lewinsky affair, after a disagreeable meal in the oval office, Bubba told the hard of hearing Monica to “sack my cook” what’s wrong with that?
So who should the Washington Dickhead Cup Final go to, Phil? Sexting Weiner or Cigaring Wiener?
Personally, I’d like to see them sword fight for the title.

I agree that Clinton is/was much worse than Weiner. The Clintons walked away red faced and a little embarrassed by the cloud of scandal that followed them from Arkansas to the WH but I’m sure they were happy to see themselves escape from the fate of some in their acqaintence who became embroiled in the Cinton’s depravity. Vince Foster. James and Susan McDougall. Monica Lewinsky.
Susan McDougall chose to go to jail rather than provide testimony that could have exposed the Clintons in all manner of tax evasion, political insider fraud and double dealing concerning the Whitewater Land Trust and the Madison Trust Bank.
Poor Monica “I did not have sex with that woman” Lewinsky was hung out to dry and had to resort to peddling diet milk shakes to cover her legal fees even while her paramour, slick Willy, used his Presidential microphone to plead for financial help for his mounting legal costs. The gall of the man!
Apart from his appalling Zionist claims, Weiner is just another horse’s ass poitician.

You think he could have toughed it out? I dont know about that….I think that as it dragged on and on and he lied more and more the party bosses were determined that he go period…I dont think he was given a choice…it was leave now or else you’re dead to the party ‘forever.’
I havent paid attention to his campaign –have any old Dem collegues been stumping for him in NY?
