Remembering the renowned Palestinian poet and author Fouzi El-Asmar

As many of you know, renowned Palestinian poet, author, journalist and activist Fouzi El-Asmar died last month near his home in Bethesda, Maryland after several years of failing health. He was buried in Palestine, upon his request. El-Asmar was the author of the classic, To Be an Arab in Israel.

For persons unable to travel to Palestine for the burial, a Memorial Service will be held for Dr. El-Asmar this Sunday, October 27, 1:00 PM at Saints Peter and Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church, 10620 River Road, Potomac, Maryland.

In Dr. El-Asmar’s memory and in celebration of his life, donations are being accepted in lieu of flowers. To donate online, go to: www.helpupa.org/inmemory/.

May he rest in peace with his wife, who he lost 3 weeks prior to his own death.
