This photo was taken today by Mohammed Othman, a Palestinian human rights activist, at the Tappuach Junction also known as Zataara in Arabic. During the Intifada, Zaatara was a checkpoint just south of Nablus and now it has been reinstated as the Israeli army is ramping up its presence inside and around major West Bank cities since three youths were abducted last Thursday in a settlement bloc near Bethlehem.

Othman said the wait in the checkpoint line runs around two and a half hours. Passengers in shared taxis are made to exit the vehicle as the army searches and checks identification cards. Even ambulances have to wait in these long lines.

So ambulances carrying the sick are impeded @- the whims of the Occupiers.

And gas and the money to pay for it is so plentiful in the OPT that desperate people can afford to hang around in the heat & sun, yakking away.

What about International Humanitarian Law and the Laws re: Occupation? Hello?

What’s the Arabic for Lidice?

OT

“In the recording, one of the trio whispers “I’ve been kidnapped.” The dispatcher thought the call was a prank and, after phoning back and getting no answer, dismissed it, leaving seven hours between the report and the military being notified.

I think Obama should tell Netanyahu to get Israel out of Nablus. I suspect he would like to, but cannot do so.
