Adelson primary heats up — fawning George Bush gives him a painting of his casino

The Bush Brothers are going the extra yard to woo billionaire Sheldon Adelson to support Jeb’s campaign for president. George W. Bush, by training a portraitist of dogs and heads of state, did an architectural painting to give to Adelson at the Republican Jewish Coalition.

From the Jewish Telegraphic Agency:

The New York Times has reported that George W. Bush, who began painting amateur portraits in 2012, gave Adelson one of his original paintings at last month’s Republican Jewish Coalition conference in Las Vegas.

According to the Times, the painting is of Adelson’s Marina Bay Sands resort and casino in Singapore, which is one of the most expensive buildings ever constructed.

Last night on Hardball, Chris Matthews wondered why Jeb Bush was packing his advisory team with neoconservatives, led by a planner of the Iraq war, Paul Wolfowitz, then wondered where Bush’s heart is. With the realists, James Baker and Brent Scowcroft, his guests surmised. The neoconservatives want a war wherever they can find one, Matthews cracked.

Yes but Bush has been throwing Baker under the bus, because Baker criticized Benjamin Netanyahu at J Street, and last week was aligning himself with his brother’s war in Iraq. All for Adelson and the “huge money” that is out there for Israel supporters.

It all fits together. No wonder George Bush after supposedly taking a vow of silence on politics, spoke out against Obama’s foreign policy, calling it naive.

Meantime, Marco Rubio continues to produce red meat for the Israel lobby. He smeared Palestinians during an interview by Charlie Rose for the Council on Foreign Relations two days ago: “They teach their children that it’s a glorious thing to kill Jews.”

ROSE: The reality is that in your judgment there cannot be a two-state solution.

RUBIO: As conditions currently exist, no. And there’s a number of reasons why.

Number one, there’s no unity in the Palestinian government or there’s no responsible leadership. They teach their children that it’s a glorious thing to kill Jews. They mismanage the current system of government they have in place today. And they’ve rejected not one, but two very generous Israeli offers for peace.

The conditions simply don’t exist. I think the most we can hope for in the short term

“According to the Times, the painting is of Adelson’s Marina Bay Sands resort and casino in Singapore, which is one of the most expensive buildings ever constructed.”

These people are beyond parody.

I continue to maintain that the so-called “Adelson primary” is a misnomer.

In 2016, there will be many more Adelsons. He won’t have such a huge singular influence like he had in 2012, not because he has gotten more stingy but because others are catching on, like Braman and now this:

Doling out 10+ millions won’t be seen as so extreme anymore and Ellison for one can certainly easily afford 100 millions.

Back in the Jim Crow days you had two primaries: the white primary and the general primary. Everyone knew which really mattered. Well, after the floodgates burst post-Citizens United, American elections are increasingly being decided by a small group of wealthy kleptocrats and quite a few of them are obsessed with Israel.

And as a result you’ll see more and more dehumanizing language by political elites aimed squarely at Palestinians(with an eye on the money on the table).
Hillary will start to smear them too, if only to catch up.

Jeb Bush has been flip flopping on the Iraq war over the past 4 days. But now he concludes that “What we know now…I would have not engaged” “I would not have gone into Iraq”. http://edition.cnn.com/2015/05/13/politics/jeb-bush-iraq-2016/ American democracy is still the best in the world. The best money can buy.
