In the propaganda war, Israel will stop at nothing

“Tel Aviv municipality attempts to recruit Caitlyn Jenner as guest of honor for pinkwashing LGBT Pride Week” — Dan Cohen’s twitter feed links to this piece in the Jerusalem Post:

The City of Tel Aviv on Thursday invited Caitlyn Jenner to be a guest of honor at its LGBT Pride Week celebration.

Jenner, 65, the former reality show star and Olympic gold medal-winning decathlete, has not responded to the invitation. She has garnered the media spotlight with her recent transition to become a woman.

Pinkwashing got put on the map by Sarah Schulman in this 2011 piece in the New York Times, saying that Israel was manipulating the freedom enjoyed by some gay people in the country to promote a liberal reputation, thereby covering up its denial of human rights to Palestinians.

An amazing decathlete. She’s lovely. Hope she’s happy. Hope she refuses the ‘invite’.

(Israel is positively shameless, but most of us know that already. At least this exploitation won’t kill anyone… I hope)

Hope she goes. Hope this kind of thing is identified thoroughly with Israel. How long will it be before we realize this has been a very silly week. Yesterday the Times ran a full length editorial on the importance of trannys in the military. When was the last time the Times ran a full column editorial on anything?

*SEE: “Israel’s Treatment of Gay Palestinian Asylum Seekers” ~ by Caroline Esser, The Washington Note, 6/06/11

[EXCERPTS]. . . The newest way to sell Israel to Americans: LGBT rights. Search gay rights on the Anti-Defamation League’s website and what do you find? A ready-to-print and available for order poster that reads, “Which of the Middle East nations protects the legal rights, safety & freedom of the LGBT communities? Only Israel.” . . .
. . . In their 2008 study, “Nowhere to Run: Gay Palestinian Asylum-Seekers in Israel,” Michael Kagan and Anat Ben-Dor describe in detail Israel’s unsympathetic and unbending policy towards gay Palestinians. . .
. . .In pursuit of protection and the ability to openly express their sexuality, there have been at least ten cases in which gay Palestinians have sought refuge in Israel. However, despite their desperation, Israel refuses to even review gay Palestinian applications for asylum (those who have successfully received asylum have had to submit their cases directly to the UNHCR headquarters in Geneva). Moreover, gay Palestinians who have illegally entered Israel have been arrested and promptly deported–returned to the very environments in which their lives were at risk and in which they will now face further danger as they are questioned not only for their sexuality but for their choice to spend time in Israel. . .

If Ms Jenner does go to Tel Aviv (and I hope she doesn’t) she should take bodyguards.

Advocate (Jan 6 2014): “An Israeli transgender woman was assaulted by a group of masked men…”

“The suspects reportedly attacked the woman using pepper spray and a stun gun after leaving a nightclub in southern Tel Aviv early Saturday morning. Following the attack, the men fled the scene in two vehicles, but they were apprehended by police after a short pursuit.

Eleven men have been arrested in connection with the crime, which police say was motivated by boredom and was a “prank,” rather than as a result of homophobia or transphobia, according to Haaretz. According to one local news outlet, Yavniton, between nine and 11 of the suspects are officers in Israel’s Border Police.”

Guess they got bored beating up twelve year olds.

I thought her fashion director/stylist-cum-daughter and son-in-law bought a home in TV
