Documentary feature ‘Killing Gaza’ needs your help

Over the past eighteen months, I have devoted much of my work at Mondoweiss to providing nuanced coverage of the Gaza Strip.

Through my words, photographs and videos, I aspired to have bring readers into the lives of the 1.8 million Palestinians ignored, maligned and dehumanized, and the political processes that perpetuate the stark reality they survive in.

In addition to publishing articles, I have documented on film the daily crises that Palestinians in Gaza suffer through and the resilience they show in the aftermath of the 2014 mega-assault that killed some 2,200 Palestinians including more than 550 children.

This effort has culminated in a documentary project that I, along with my co-producer Max Blumenthal, have titled Killing Gaza.

Undoubtedly a jolting choice of words, we decided on Killing Gaza because we aim to create an unflinching and uncompromising portrayal of the daily Israeli violence wrought upon Gaza and the complicity of Western governments. We see this as necessary to push back against the narrative that demonizes the population of mostly children as terrorists.

In order to complete this project, we recently launched an Indiegogo campaign. Our goal of $30,000 will allow us to cover our debt for equipment upgrades and months of fieldwork. It will also allow us to compensate our committed editor, a translator, the composer of our original soundtrack, and animator. In addition, we need to cover post-production costs like audio engineering and editorial streamlining.

Part of genocidal project is denial and blaming of victims.
Counteracting denials is essential.
