Is there no end to the vile racism, xenophobia and lies spread by Iowa Congressman Steve King?
He’s already said that, “We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies” and recommended we read Jean Raspail’s virulently racist ‘Camp of the Saints’ (which is also a Steve Bannon favorite).
But now he’s spreading outright lies in praise of Dutch supremacist Geert Wilders (and Israel), saying “This is a message over to Europe, over to the Netherlands and Geert Wilders, who does understand this: The birth rates in especially Western Europe… all of Western civilization, have gone down below the replacement rate, with the exception of Israel, they are the only first world country that has a birth rate higher than their death rate”.
Oh, really? Israel is the “only first world country” to have a positive birth rate?
A short glimpse at the World Bank global population growth data reveals that while Israel does have a relatively high population growth (2%, global average being 1.2%), Luxembourg for example has a 2.4% rate. Sweden has 1.1%, Switzerland 1.2%, USA 0.8%, Denmark 0.6%. It might not all be as high as Israel, but it still makes King’s assertion an outright lie.
Even if one wanted to be really apologetic, and differentiate ‘non-Westerners,’ in for example the Danish case (which Danish statistics do, and they even include 2nd-generation), the total of ‘non-Westerns’ is about 8% now, and the prognosis, including immigration, is that by 2060 the population of ‘non-Westerners’ would have grown by 88%, with the ‘Western’ population growing by 85%.
It’s nonetheless completely understandable that King cites Israel. Although he got his numbers very wrong, the Israel comparison makes his demographic obsession seem somewhat more acceptable. His remarks come at a time when Israeli rabbis go as far as allowing polygamy to counter the ‘demographic threat’; Israeli Centrist-liberal Israeli lawmaker Yair Lapid says that “it would bother me if my son married a non-Jew… It would bother me greatly”; Israeli municipalities run programs to avert contact between Jewish and non-Jewish youth; and Jewish NGO’s seek out Jewish girls in order to “save the daughters of Israel from the claws of the Ishmaelites [Arabs]”. Most recently, yesterday’s explosive report to a UN agency by Richard Falk and Virginia Tilley confirms that Israeli government agencies have been involved in systematic “demographic engineering” under an overarching Apartheid policy. This is racial obsession on steroids – no doubt a coveted model for King.
“You’ve got to keep your birth rate up,” says King, “you need to teach your children your values.”
And what are those values exactly, King? White supremacy? Shall we let them read Raspail and teach them to breed like bunnies?
Without knowing anything about King I think it is probably reasonable to assume he is also a climate change denier and therefore is unconcerned at the effect of increasing population on carbon use (and resource depletion). This is particularly a threat when the additional babies, whether of ‘Western’ or, extrapolating King, untermenschen, heritage live in countries where they will adopt European/North American levels of consumption and energy use.
I assume he also supports Trump’s attack on Planned Parenthood and other responsible US organizations. It would all be of a piece.

If mixed marriages are an indicator, I have it that the mixed marriage rate for Reform Jews is on the order of 50%, while the mixed marriage rate of the Orthodox is 2%, according to Pew Research. Second link below. I’m not comfortable discussing “Jews” as a monolith.

All humans were born equal, however we are not equal, as we developed after birth toward different directions, influenced by religion, nationality and educational level, and this may make getting along with eachother more than difficult.
I good mirror of this is Europe today. Average birth to west european women is 1.4 child, asian and african immigrants top that with good 100% and Erdogan just called his 5 million fellow turks living there to have at least 5 children.
There is only one solution, we must send all priests, rabbis, mullahs, ministers to the Sahara, because they are the main causes for most human problems, instead of preaching peace, they preach hate of other religions.
