      Disagree with you on this one, Mr. Weiss.

      There is a conflict between Arabs and Israelis (really, Jews of the diaspora too - in the final analysis 95%+ of them support Israel, and are not ashamed to admit it).

      The Arabs organize to protest and do propaganda - really, the only thing they can do. The organizations of Hezbollah and Hamas are really now defensive in nature (because of overwhelming Israeli military power) - they cannot undertake any offensive actions.

      This is taking place all over the world.

      The leftists and anarchists that join the Arabs raising hell in Europe (and perhaps other places) are just that - a fringe.

      As a European raised boy, I have no love for the backward, incompatible with European culture and tradition Moslem peoples who in a great majority of cases do not assimilate.

      As an American (and I say this ad nauseum), the only beef I have with Israel is how dual loyalty citizens have assumed control of this nation, to the detriment of its people and its greatness, up to involving this nation in a global war with the whole of Islam.

      Realistically, USA should be on the side of the Arabs, as we want their oil.

      Israel does not give nor provide anything for this country, except trouble.

      Due to Israeli agents of influence, we are in a war in Iraq.

      Due to Israeli agents of influence, the whole Arab world hates us.

      Something must be done, we CANNOT allow this small (yet rich, powerful and close to centers of power) minority hijack this country indefinitely.

      Personally, I have absolutely no problems with this.

      Zero.

      If you are an American citizen of Jewish heritage, but identify strongly with Israel to the point that you want to move there and become an Israeli - DO IT!

      More power to you.

      Then there are no questions of dual loyalty, or the tired old meme that "Israeli interests are the same as America's".

      That is why I like the Israeli ambassador to America - who became an Israeli after being born here.

      What I cannot stand is "americans" who sing Ha'tikvah in a synagogue, send their sons to fight in the IDF, to kibbutzes, support Israel over USA's interests and then call someone a bigot or an anti-semite when somene dares to bring up dual loyalty.

      Another thing, completely off topic - Phil, dig up vid (vids?) of Jon Stewart debating William Kristol.

      I could spot a palpable behind the scenes combat going on, something that flew right over the head of 99% of the viewership of the show. They could sense it, but they did not know what it was.

      What it was was twofold - it was a fight for the soul of America. Jews, in the ascendant, were fighting over the soul of America and the direction of it.

      Kristol was grinning ear to ear and laughing, saying with his eyes and his double entendres "Why are you doing what you are doing? Look at these schleps, these goyim, they are not worth it - just use them, wring them out for yours and mine benefit and be done with them".

      While Jon represented that other side of Jews - "We might be perhaps smarter and perhaps more fortunate than most in America now, our peer support network is tremendous, but we should use that to not just enrich ourselves and our tribe, but help all others here - and in the world around us - also".

      That is what I saw.

      Waxing a bit poetic here.

      1) The Holocaust was a terrifying reality. If any of you have any doubts about Germans organized mass murder of Jews (and many other "undesirables") please come to Poland and see Auschwitz for yourself.

      2) The original AEI article seems to be gone (sorry) but my quote from it is extensive.

      Did you catch that?

      He INVENTED the number of non-Jewish victims of the camps.

      I was flabbergasted.

      Again, this is NOT a denial of the Holocaust - this is a question of the numbers.

      This is fascinating stuff for an (very) amateur historian like myself.

      The more Israel makes it clear that Jews everywhere else have dual loyalty and are more loyal to it than their countries of birth the more resentment there is, and the goyim take their blinders off.

      Israel is now a danger to the Jews not living in it, because this resentment and feelings of being a second class citizen in your own country to a religious/ethnic(?) minority is galling for many and affects their feelings towards the "chosen" people.

      It looks like the old guard of Israel and AIPAC (the elders of Zion, one may jokingly call them) are seeing cracks in the monolithic support of Israel, especially from young humanist Jews horrified by things like Lebanon war, Sabra and Shatilla massacres, etc.

      I think everyone here is overanalyzing this movie.

      This is a snuff movie.

      The guy who plays the sadistic, inhuman, unfeeling baseball bashing head guy is Eli Roth - he played the same sadistic, gimp in Hostel.

      I have not seen Hostel - I simply do not believe that a movie that shows torture for over an hour - we are talking continous, hard core torture, with guts, blood, things cut out - is entertainment.

      Debasement, vile, trash - yes, entertainment - no.

      Tarantino's movie (haven't seen it, er, in its completeness) is snuff entertainment a la Hostel.

      That it is set during WW2 or involves American soldiers or Jews is incidental.

      Hostel could have been set in Latin America, or Deep South USA, or Africa.

      Same here.

      And now for something positive.

      Me and my mom were shopping in a local super store.

      She spotted an Orthodox Jew, and said (in polish) something along the lines of "I didn't know this neighborhood had Orthodox Jews".

      As we chatted in polish the Jewish guy acted as if he listened in, and then finally spoke to us in very passable (heavy accent) polish.

      After the "Dzien dobry", we learned that he lived in Lvov before the war, and he reminisced with us about pre war Poland. We spent 10 minutes or so talking to each other; it looked like "grandpa" wanted to speak a bit in polish. Perhaps he did not get much chance to do so.

      Funny how the world works, two polish (now) Americans talking to a kindly Orthodox Jewish guy in polish, in a midwest boonies.

      Speechless, yet not surprised.

      I have learned in America that the Poles were at least complicit in the holocaust, even though there were no polish concentration camp guards (ukrainians, yes, poles, no), no polish SS, no polish waffen-ss, and the people who informed the occupation forces on where jews were hidden for financial reward were ruthlessly executed by the Home Army.

      But never mind all that, the Israeli myth uber alles, no matter the facts.

      It seems that the international, poignant "Never again!", which I learned in communist Poland while learning about WW2 and Jewish Holocaust, to the proponents of Israeli myth became (sadly):

      "Never again, us"...

      ...someone else's turn to suffer for our, jewish benefit, now we are the bullies!

      I watched Borat for the first time in my life a few weeks ago (it was on USA, so what the hey).

      The impression I got is that Sacha's movie is about two themes:

      Message one: eastern Europe is s**t, and is populated by nasty, brutish, beyond neanderthal people who hate Jews.

      Message two: Americans are yokels who are easily led by any conman who comes along.

      The "Jak sie masz" is polish for 'How are you".

      The majority of the jokes were in Yiddish, so I felt that I didn't get 40% or more of the jokes... if they were jokes at all.

      For the record, disclaimer - I never got Seinfeld either, but I adore Mel Brooks (perhaps because he is so pro polish, it twangs my immigrant heart after all, eh)... but I think it is because I find his humor more human, with actual humanity in it, and not a hint of condescension nor sneering.
