    Mimi Alford was terribly abused. I was under the impression that it was a good thing for a victim to find his or her voice. I cannot wait for your wife to condemn all the altar boys victimized by Catholic priests.

    I have known Norman since 1984, when we met trying to expose Joan Peters. Norman has never had great political instincts, as he himself will admit. However, he is not a sell-out or a new Benny Morris. For more than ten years (and probably more than fifteen), he has been discussing what he sees as a coming break between American Jews (particuliarly younger American Jews) and Israel. Frankly, much of what he predicted seems to be happening.

    Years ago, MJ Rosenberg trashed Norman Finkelstein in print. (I believe it was in TMPCafe). I may root for Rosenberg against Dersh, but I will not mistake him for someone I should respect.

    I have known Norman since 1984, when we were trying to expose Joan Peters. At the time, a lot of liberal Zionists tried to get Norman to join them. He did not. He is not a Zionist. He has a view of what is possible. Perhaps he is incorrect in his analysis, but having seen what he faced and went through, I have to shake my head at some of these comments.

    No, the New York Times ran Anthony Lewis' piece on a Monday in 1986. It was Colin Campbell's news piece about the controversy, primarily in the UK and to a much lesser extent in Israel, that ran on the Thanksgiving weekend.

    Scott,

    I am on the left, but I tend to agree with your view of Buchanan (at least to a point). However, I have noticed that frequently Buchanan will articulate a position or group of positions which should cause him , for example, to support Kerry or Obama for President, but he will not do so. It is as if he cannot help himself, even when he has not been thrown red meat. It is disappointing.

    On another matter, although I am Irish Catholic and am aware of the anti-Irish bigotry among the WASP elite,I also admire much of that old elite (specifically the old New England and/or abolitionist branches). Truthfully, they did a better job than those who followed.
