There was an invitation-only gaming session at the 2012 Herzliya conference that considered how Israel should handle it's oil should the price reach $250 a barrel - sell or hoard? (The price is currently about $110 a barrel). Some ex-BP big shots were involved. So yes I would imagine a load of those present are in on deals aimed at benefiting from the planned oil price spike. I suspect Israel would be very keen to have pliable client regimes in the coastal areas of Lebanon and Syria. That would allow a pipeline route from Israel to Turkey, enabling Israel to sell its oil to the EU at a suitable price.
Another issue has also been kept very quiet. Some time after the alleged assassination an El Al flight from Ben Gurion to Hong Kong was recalled about an hour after take off. The big plan is for Israel to gain control of the whole east coast of the Mediterranean by segmenting Lebanon and Syria. Once that happens, Israel 'owns' the whole oil / gas field just off the coast and the energy would be controlled by 'a safe pair of hands'. The attack on Iran would cripple supplies to Hezbollah enabling Lebanon to be trashed, as well as destabilizing Iran. It would also raise oil / gas prices dramatically, probably to $250 a barrel, the target figure in a recent wargame (including ex-BP hands) at the 2012 Herzilya conference. The Russian base at Tartus has been crucial in stopping the regime change planned for Syria - for the time being at least. Follow the money - the world becomes desperate for oil and oooh look Israel just happens to have plenty of gas to sell.

You are assuming the Perry cortege dealt directly with the hotel. I imagine there was a least one middle man outfit involved - a 'specialist travel agency', for example. These outfits don't donate their expertese you know, they have a profit to make from the deal. A few layers of middlemen can quickly rack up significant overheads.
