Just boycott McEwan's books. Lots of great writers out there. Who a needs a writer who would have accepted an award from the Nazi Center For Enlightenment "so he could see for himself." If McEwan doesn't know the reality of Jerusalem for Palestinains, then he should stop writing and get educated. I personally will not read anything else he has written. Which is sad, because he's quite good.
Sounds like you have a great wife! And a great marriage. It seems obvious to me that she responded to the "narrative" emotionally, aesthetically thought he photos, but certainly gets or would get the relative truths within each narrative. The fact that she ends with a question about opposing the one-state solution makes it obvious that she isn't the most informed person about I/P issues. The one-state solution is the end of Israel as a Jewish state. Which might be a good thing for democracy and Jews.
You certainly have faith in the Word. But if Israeli's have been able to bomb an open-air prison with little condemnation, continue to steal and occupy land in the WB, surely they can mount an attack and overcome the notion that Herzl was a colonist at heart (and mind). The Times choked (knowing full well that the article would appear somewhere else).
Two things to remember about the Irish negotiations: The IRA's arms were decommissioned, not turned over to the Brits until peace was achieved; the Irish are White and Christian. These two factors are key to any understanding of what took place in Northern Ireland.
And then, after completing the negotiations that would secure peace and prosperity for all Iraqis regardless of ethnic affiliation, the entire nation of Iraq made a ring of love by the linking of hands and screaming in unison toward the island of Israel: We love you too, always have and always will.
It's so weird and exciting that many of us in the US are holding our breaths in anticipation of who is going to emerge victorious: the bad, conservative Zio-Jews or the good, leftist Universalist Jews. I for one am happy that the Jews are having this conversation. Let the best Jew win!
The historical ironies here would be rib-crushing if they we're not so glaring and obvious in their modeling. If only we had some other entity, some regime other than the NAZIS for comparison, then we might be able to get out of this mess.
We're really asking a lot of Palestinians not to hate Zionist Jews. In fact, a lack of such hatred in any Palestinian would be tantamount to haven given up the fight, and quite suspicious for other Palestinians. And yet, how many Palestinians hate the Jews who live in Uruguay? Zionists have no choice but to wave the anti-Semite wand: they have no other magic, least of all "law" and "rational" thinking. Israel is a European State, the last great colonial project begun just as all the others were imploding. We'll see what History's Justice will do to it.
You, my friend, have it right. The Nazis were well-versed in the "reservation" policy the US had regarding Native Americans. As was Mussolini in Libya. The Nazis "advised" the Turks.
Another disturbing trend: Summary Executions, which the Israeli's began using in Gaza years ago, have become the norm for Western Democracies. It appears that only citizens live in democracies while their leaders live in fascist bubbles. Bubbles are inherently unstable. And this one will be popped at some point in the future. I might be dead by then, but my son won't be.
Moreover: Enhanced Interrogation is exactly the phrase (albeit in Hoch-Deutsche) the Nazis used in all their written instructions to their henchman.
Slippery slope indeed. Still, one can't help to notice the conspiratorial quality of AIPAC. And what if "The Protocols. . ." was a favorite book of Foxman & Co.? I mean to say that if I had the aims that AIPAC has, I might consult the Protocols while using its very existence as a foil against those who question Israeli legitimacy. These characters, if nothing else, are very shrewd.
The point is: those Muslims in Malmo like their Palestinian brothers (and like the Jews in the ghetto) feel abandoned by the civilized world. The Rabbi said the extreme because anything short of that would have been absurd given the situation. At the same time, if Jews in the West support the illegal activities (occupation, war crimes, etc) with money and propaganda, doesn't that make them complicit?
Read the little known book: The Secret State, by Jan Karski, who was a Polish intelligence officer during the Nazi occupation of Poland. The relevant section is when Karski is about to be sent to England to brief the Allied leaders on conditions in Poland at the time. The head Rabbi in the Warsaw ghetto arranges for him to be smuggled into the ghetto, to see it first-hand. Finally, Karski asks the Rabbi what exactly he would like to be conveyed to the Allies, beyond the obvious descriptions of the ghetto. The Rabbi says: What can I say? Tell the Allies that they must hang every German they can find from the lamp-posts, whether in America, England or anywhere else they can be found. Obviously, Karski tells him it's a non-starter.
All of the arguments Zionist's use to justify the status quo criminality or worse are apriori absurd. Sand in our eyes. The problem is, any just resolution to the crimes is the deathknell for Israel. The Zionists know that. But even with their wealth and organization, how long can they maintain the fiction? History catches up to everyone. If the Israeli's were really smart, they'd fix it before it fixes them.

Boycott McEwan!
Planck was dead wrong. It was the landed aristocracy that coddled Hitler, thinking they could somehow control him. They didn't.

Dear Donald,

Rhodesia ended well!
Indyk: a Polish word that means Turkey. Has anyone in history lived up to his name more accurately than this guy?

You can't really add anything to her comments. The question is: how widespread are her barbarian views among Israelis?

VR, maybe a bit less color for the texts against that black background, a bit easier on these old eyes, if I might make a suggestion
VR, nice site, checked it out yesterday. . .lots of good writing and analysis. Thanks!
Indyk in Polish means: Turkey

There's no need to consult an academic to know that resistance to Israel is not only expected, in terms of psychology, but is the only MORAL response.
