  • New Israeli legislation favoring Christians seeks to divide Palestinian community
    • During its last decade, South African Apartheid also tried to resuscitate itself by establishing a Tricameral Parliament, where the Coloured and Indian population groups were granted very limited political voice. The Coloured and Indian population groups were of course less numerous, and to the ruling whites, less black.

66 years after the ethnic cleansing of Palestine, the Nakba continues.

    • Israeli apartheid has learnt from the failures of South African Apartheid.

If apologists for SA Apartheid had attacked the courageous academic, sporting, union and other civil groups who were the first to implement boycotts, then Nelson Mandela would have died a "terrorist" in Victor Verster Prison, and his people would still be resisting the segregated Bantustan-state solution forcibly imposed on them.

    • "In apartheid South Africa, people disappeared in the night without the protection of any legal process and were never heard from again. There was no freedom of speech or expression and more “judicial” hangings were reportedly carried out there than any place on earth. There was no free press and, until January 1976, no public television. Masses of black people were forcibly moved from tribal lands to arid Bantustans in the middle of nowhere. A “pass system” stipulated where blacks could live and work, splitting families and breaking down social structures, to provide cheap labor for the mines and white-owned businesses, and a plentiful pool of domestic servants for the white minority." ~ Hirsh Goodman

In apartheid Israel, people still disappear in the night including children (some as young as 9) who are routinely tortured until they sign confessions they cannot read, or detained until acquitted by a military "legal process".
A "legal process" so barbaric that children who are forced to "confess" usually spend less time imprisoned than children who are acquitted[1].
A "legal process" so corrupt that it results in a near perfect conviction rate of 99.74% for Palestinian adults[2], an even higher conviction rate of 99.88% for Palestinian children[3], and a 98.77% approval for administrative detention requests[2] (imprisonment without charge or trial).

More summary executions without trial (primarily by warplanes in residential areas) are carried out there than any place on earth.

Masses of Palestinian people are forcibly moved from tribal lands after having their homes demolished, their crops uprooted/burnt, and their lands confiscated.

A "pass system" of 101 different types of permits[4], a maze of checkpoints & roadblocks, besieged enclaves, and an illegal wall encroaching on Palestinian land, stipulate where Palestinians could live and work, splitting families and breaking down social structures, to provide cheap labor for the colonial industrial parks and Israeli-owned businesses.

Never before has a belligerent nuclear-armed regional power,
which is financially, militarily and diplomatically backed by the world's most powerful nuclear-armed superpower,
and that has invaded all five of its neighbours (and still occupies territory from three),
been threatened by so many perceived internal and external "existential threats"
(threats which it chooses to confront using more military aggression).

The last time a belligerent nuclear-armed regional power felt threatened by so many perceived "existential threats",
it bowed to internal resistance, international boycotts and diplomatic pressure,
released the leader of the "terrorist" organisation (considered its biggest threat) from jail,
abandoned its supremacist laws and segregated bantustans,
and learned to co-exist in a one-state solution with the very same indigenous inhabitants it had dispossessed, oppressed and routinely massacred.

The last time a belligerent conventionally-armed regional power felt threatened by so many perceived "existential threats",
it allied itself with two other like-minded belligerent powers,
      and started a worldwide war.

If there were no indigenous people in Palestine, then there shouldn't even be a conflict.

  • What if your friend had to die to preserve a Jewish state?
    • mondonut says: "your assertion - proven false by Arafat himself."

Do you realise each person has four grandparents and do you understand the concept of and/or?

Arafat is a Palestinian born in Cairo to Palestinian parents. One of his grandparents (paternal grandmother) was Egyptian, the rest were Palestinian.

Arafat is a Palestinian, unlike the young man's grandfather, the one mentioned in the video who we are told dreamt about, and migrated to Palestine (or Israel).

    • mondonut says: "Even Arafat himself had a grandparent not from Palestine."

Even Obama himself had two grandparents not from the United States, but he hasn't been denied his birth rights nor stripped of his American citizenship.

Similarly Oliver Tambo, Thabo Mbeki, and many others didn't lose their South African ancestry and birth rights simply by being forced to live in exile.

All Palestinians, including Jewish Palestinians (prior to Zionist colonization) are indigenous to what is now Israel/Palestine, and no armies, armistice borders or revisions of history can change that fact.

    • "my grandfather come here and dream about it, to be in Israel…"

Every living Palestinian's grandfather and/or grandmother, and great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents, and so on, are from Palestine. Palestine is their ancestral homeland, not Jordan, not Syria, not Chile, not Lebanon, not the United States, not anywhere else.

And Palestinians dream about living in their ancestral homeland free from occupation and oppression.

And every ethnically cleansed Palestinian and their descendants -- living in Israeli-enforced exile -- have the right to return to their ancestral homeland. Most of them live a short distance away on the other side of the border and they won't be waiting 2,000 years (or 80 generations) to return.

Therein lies the problem for Israel, the self declared Jewish State.

  • Israel demolishes Bedouin village in E1 -- that Obama declared was key to two-state solution
    • It is of course a violation of the Geneva conventions to transfer civilian population into occupied territories.

The civilian population being transferred into occupied territories is both Israel's second line of colonial conquest (land grabbing marauders), and its first line of defence (human shields) in potential future war zones.

Israel is the only country in the world that still uses civilian colonists (aka Jewish settlers) as human shields by deliberately placing them in subsidised settlements on stolen land deep inside occupied enemy territories (territories with which it is still technically at war).

  • Israel and its Middle East allies have embraced the three state solution
    • In 1951, the South African Apartheid regime formally imposed an 11-state solution by 'magnanimously' allocating 13% of South Africa's land to form 10 bantustans for the country's indigenous population.

Excluding the 43% of the West Bank that is off-limits to Palestinians (reserved for Jewish-only settlements/councils and roads, closed military bases and zones, Israeli declared nature reserves, areas cut off by separation wall, etc), leaves Palestinians with only 13% of their original homeland. It's ironic that this is equivalent to the 13% that the other Apartheid regime tried but failed to impose.

This leads to the question -- how many besieged, walled-in, ghettoized bantustans will the Palestinians be forced into before Israel ethnically cleanses them into Jordan and Egypt?

In any case, some Palestinians have already adapted to the current paradigm. Mahmoud Abbas is the Chief Buthelezi of Israeli Apartheid in the "self-ruled" Area A which comprises 18% of the West Bank (equivalent to a mere 3.7% of historic Palestine).

    • This is what a hypothetical "Dear Shmuel" letter may look like:

      Dear Shmuel Rosner,

As you know, many social and economic benefits in Israel (including government subsidies, public housing and employment) are conditional on military service, but the majority of Israeli Arabs are exempt from military service. This presents Israel with a carrot and stick dilemma, as reducing the level of "carrots" (subsidies) will not work for a group that receives so little to begin with. If Israel wants to modify the behaviour of Arabs before they damage its identity ("make Israel feel less Jewish"), it will need to use even more "sticks" on this demographic than it already does.

Haredis are also exempt from military service, but at least they're eligible for extra subsidies, including educational supplements, not available to Arabs. So reducing the Haredi share of "carrots" may work. However, if the reduction in subsidies does not reduce the birth rates of Haredis, then perhaps Israel can try birth control by coercion, which produced outstanding results when used for the Ethiopian Jewish community (an "almost 50-percent decline over the past 10 years in the birth rate") as reported below:

To a man with only a hammer, says the proverb, every problem looks like a nail

Never before has a belligerent nuclear-armed regional superpower,
which is financially, militarily and diplomatically backed by the world's strongest nuclear-armed superpower,
and that has invaded all five of its neighbours (and still occupies territory from three),
been threatened by so many perceived internal and external "existential threats"
(threats which it chooses to confront using more military aggression).

The last time a belligerent nuclear-armed regional superpower felt threatened by so many perceived "existential threats",
it bowed to international boycotts and diplomatic pressure,
released the leader of the "terrorist" organisation (considered its biggest threat) from jail,
abandoned its supremacist laws and segregated bantustans,
and learned to co-exist in a one-state solution with the very same indigenous inhabitants it had dispossessed, oppressed and routinely massacred.

The last time a belligerent conventionally-armed regional superpower felt threatened by so many perceived "existential threats",
it allied itself with two other like-minded belligerent powers,
      and started a worldwide war.

Senior BBC official insists that all of Jerusalem is an "Israeli" city
the BBC's Senior Editorial Strategy Advisor, Leanne Buckle, has confirmed that the BBC is happy to refer to the whole of Jerusalem as an "Israeli" city. It sees no need for its journalists to make the facts of international law, or even UK government policy, clear to its audiences. [...] Buckle writes: "a passing reference to Jerusalem as an Israeli city would not [give] listeners a misleading impression of the city's status under international law."

Why is the BBC so afraid of the word "Palestine"?
the BBC's head of editorial standards for audio and music, Paul Smith, wrote that the show's producer "did not edit out the word 'Palestine' because it was offensive -- referencing Palestine is fine, but implying that it is not free is the contentious issue."

I have not heard one of you interfere to stop the loud wail of death, it's as if everyone of you has turned into gravediggers, and everyone wears his military suit: the judge, the writer, the intellectual, the journalist, the merchant, the academic, and the poet. • The forever conflict: Will America’s war on terror [ever] end at home?

America will reluctantly withdraw from all its global wars when US citizens rise up against tyranny.

Unfortunately for US citizens, the tyranny they'll be forced to resist will not be foreign, but home grown. The second American war of independence is therefore likely to be known as the American Civil War II.

  • 'J Street' says skepticism toward Kerry's efforts fuels Third Intifada and Palestinians taking Israel to the Hague
    • Justice Except for Palestine

"Imagine ... the Palestinians headed to the International Criminal Court and other international bodies, seeking recognition of their rights and international action against Israel."

If Israeli actions against Palestinians were justified as the apologists always claim, then why would "seeking recognition of their rights" lead to "international action against Israel"?

"What then? Congress has threatened to cut aid to the Palestinian Authority (and maybe to the UN bodies who accept them), the Israelis could be expected to launch a new wave of settlement construction (E-1, anyone?), and Palestinian tax revenue could again be withheld. [...]
If the PA stopped collecting garbage, does Israel resume full responsibility for West Bank services?"

What then? Extortion by the US and extortion by Israel, and yet more Israeli victimhood.

The Justice Except for Palestine brigade (aka liberal Zionists) are desperately clinging to the hope that a Palestinian leader (any leader, but Abbas is their last hope) would eventually succumb to Israeli/US extortion and negotiate Palestinian rights away. Not likely, as Nelson Mandela said, "only free men can negotiate".
