That's similar to my take.
When my friends in the AIM used to mutter similar sentiments, in the late 1980s (as the Indian movement began to collapse for good), very few people dismissed them as morally bankrupt or exemplars of heinous "cleansing."
It was understandable that an Ojibwa man might wonder aloud that all the wasicu ought to return to Europe, because very few people actually believed this would ever happen.
As in, it's never going to happen.
Helen Thomas knows the sabra aren't going anywhere, short of the truly monstrous (a nuclear event, as likely provoked by the Israeli state as not).
She's just putting into to stark terms what Jabotinsky stated nearly a century ago: European Jews were colonists in a land not their own and their descendants still rule over and occupy that same land.

Sorry, posted this in reply to old post.
I don't know if the time stamp is Irish, and therefore relatively new, or if this is outdated.

Time stamp and updates time stamp, top left corner.
Avi,
Haaretz reports no boarding. Ynet reports no boarding. Even the J-Post only hints at "interception."

"While Placebo have already landed in Israel and are scheduled to perform as planned, the cancellation will do doubt come as a hard blow to concertgoers who paid a high price for an evening of performances by international acts who will headline Europe's top festivals this summer.
Shocked fans expressed their disappointment Friday as others spoke out in outrage over the unchanged entrance fee. The production team, however, announced that fans wishing to be reimbursed for their tickets would be able to do so at the venue on Saturday afternoon."

Fans outraged - outraged! - that a band didn't show up.
Outraged that innocents murdered?
Nyet.
Explains much about the colonial mentality. (And that also explain a lot about the United States, where the same consumerist attitude would probably have followed a similar cancellation.)
South Africa was not the forward base of a globe bestriding military behemoth.
droog,
I honestly don't know. I'm just musing "aloud." I knew some guys in the late eighties/early nineties, who collected for the IRA, in and around Boston.
They had a massive donor list and perhaps the world's best samizdat, at the time.
If the IRA (or worse, what's left of the Provos) wanted to make the Israeli government regret sinking an Irish ship, or taking Irish persons captive, they could.
And as was demonstrated for thirty years, the Brits can do eff all about it, especially operating on the Continent or in the States.
I'm not endorsing that outcome, or even implying that it would necessarily come to that. But, were I in whatever planning committee mocking up outcomes, in Tel Aviv, I'd remember that the Irish play for keeps, have a deep and abiding culture which serves as a social bond across continents and oceans - and that there's a whole lot more of them wandering the US than there are unfortunate Palestinians.
That's my take.
Also: The Israeli state may or may not calculate what happens if the IRA takes an active interest in Israeli property in the British Isles, and on the Continent.
But they should.
I can muster sympathy for any Israeli who is a child, a non-combatant, who is a refusenik, who belongs to Gush Shalom, who has ever been arrested for opposing the falangization of Israel, or any other person in Israel who stands for justice.
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet or not, but four in the head doesn't happen to a person who is resisting in any way, at all. Who is moving, running, swinging a weapon, waving his hands, doing anything but sitting still, or sleeping.
Four in the head is an execution.
Smart move. Every public witness has to have live feed and back ups now.
I think Bibi can risk having commandos board the ship. He's got the US backing his interpretation of blockade and neutral ships, and pressuring the UN into allowing Israeli authorities to self-investigate.
