Goldberg is not, per Andrew Sullivan, "a Jewish journalist before he is a journalist." Goldberg is a shill, and a bigoted one at that, who clearly manifests confused and divided loyalties with every word he writes or speaks.
Anyone looking into exactly what goldberg did as a prison guard during his stay in Israel?
Anyone care to remind Goldberg of the legal term "expatriating acts" [though for all intents and purposes a dead letter]?
If Goldberg and his fabulist beliefs weren't so dangerous to the welfare of the USA, he'd be as pathetic as Louis Farrakhan nattering on about "mother ships" and whatnot.
Well, some things never change. Rubio was junketing to Israel even before he was sworn in, so this ought not to surprise.
BUT, I smile when I realize that somewhere along the line there is going to be a masssive difference of opinion on some issue of great importance between Rubio's right-wing Cuban-American ethnic kinsmen and his newly-minted playmates in The Israel Lobby. Then this repulsive, jumped-up little creature will really sweat.
Who will he betray [less emotionally phrased, which group of supporters will Rubio choose to disappoint]? I'm betting that he will side with The Israel Lobby, as they brook no opposition and suffer no difference of opinion. As well, he could be calculatingthat the cuban-american community can forgive the occassional transgression.
Yeah, and he's got much better hair as well.
Want to play Devil's Advocate and have some guilty fun at the expense of your Israel First/Neo-Conservatives acquaintances?
Argue the case that JJPollard is a candidate for Enhanced Interrogation Techniques [that's Dershowitz-speak for what is more commonly termed torture].
It's a lot of fun! At the expense of awful persons with whom you are politically at sword's-point already, so...
Thinking back, the premises for applying EIT to KSM and his jihadist compatriots were:
1. they had engaged in [violent] acts detrimental to the interests of the US ; and
2. they were witholding crucial information about future acts detrimental to the USA.
Well, I'm no lawyer, but common sense tells me that JJP meets both of those criteria: Espionage is not considered an act friendly to or in furtherance of US interests. As well, the supposed harsh treatment meted out to Pollard has been explained by his refusal to divulge the many and sundry details of his illegal activities on behalf of our great ally Israel. A refusal totally at variance to the terms of his pleaa bargain agreement.
So, in a nutshell, ther you have it.
Those taking my advice, please report back and let me know how it went.
wonder is she's ever heard of Mordechai Vanunnu [spelling?]?
link to council.nyc.gov
I just emailed Speaker Quinn to let her know that she doesn't speak for me re JJ Pollard.
I suggest others do the same, if for no other reason that to clog up her email box.
"Married"?
More like date rape on a "Groundhog Day" basis.
Poor Carney, you can just see the discomfit he's in trying to get the subject changed and to avoid - heaven forfend - the utterance of even a syllable which might not be 1000% support of The Zionist Entity.
I often wonder how folks like Carney, and this is really not a criticism given the realities of his position as a spokesperson, can hold this job and trot out and dissemble and evade on a daily basis, and still retain a modicum of self-respect.
Yo momma so zionist, she would sleep with sheldon adelson ever if he was dead broke!
Well, it's simple - when the USA is dragged into multiple wars on behalf of the PRC and/or North Korea, when the USA is politically raped by domestic lobbies who shamelessly fetch and carry for the malign cause of the PRC and/or North Korea, when the USA starts blowing $3 billion+ dollars annually on the PRC and/or North Korea, that's when I'll take a much more active hard line on those other two political abominations.
Just think - from The Light Unto The Nations to "we're so much less terrible than those other guys" in barely half a century. Yeah, the late [and massively unlamented] Senator Moynihan, as gutless a thraal to the Israeli cause as ever stood up on hind legs, sure would [not] be amused to see his concept of "defining deviance down" make an appearance in this context.
I'd laugh, except I think that tears are a more appropriate response.
Well, when I hear the term "Jewish state" I sure as heck do not think of Espiscopalians, congregationalists. Presbyterians, Unitarians or any other body of organized superstition.
And, come to think of it, isn't the Likudist demand for "Recognition Plus," that Israel be recognized specifically as a Jewish state, now coming back to bite them?
In other breaking news, the sun rose in the East this morning. Experts expect it to set in the West this evening. Stay tuned for more....
It is a badge of honor to be slammed by the Commentary crowd with it's obvious confused and divided loyalties.
Take heart, you are doing a good job! You must have drawn blood for them to single you out.
Will POTUS Obama be brave enough to use this to bar Bibi's ever-annoying presence in the USA?
and then Lucifer said "Thanks for stopping by, but I'm afraid that you can't stay. you'll give Hell a bad name."
It's interesting, if Shamir is fighting the British while the British are fighting the Nazis who are exterminating european Jewry, than is shamir at one or two removes complicit in the Nazi extermination of his coreligionists?
The US media has done it's usual tank job of whitewashing and lauding Israeli terrorists - just compare the coverage of Menachem Begin's death. And just wait untial Ari Sharon finally succumbs.
Well, this could be a whole new tourist industry for our Most Reliable Ally In The Middle East/Light Unto The Nations.
I mean, why stop at using Palestinians as faux target practice? With the great intellectual powers of the Israelis, i'm sure it's only a matter of time before they start to stage re-enactments of the IDF's and the Mossad's "Greatest Hits."
I mean, reall, c'mon folks - who wouldn't thrill to a re-enactment of the ethnic cleansing of Deir Yassin? Or Ariel Sharon's murderous raid on Qibya? Who wouldn't thrill to be a bystander at the massacre of Pally women, children and old men at the Sabra and Shittilla refugee camps? And who wouldn't want to send letter bombs to unsuspecting Americans and Brits in Egypt as the Lavon Affair is restaged? And kidnap a Mordecai Vannunu look-alike? And, once a year, in the best overblown Michael Bay pyrotechnic style, the IDF can reenact the sneak attack on the USS Liberty. Or the shooting down of the Egyptian civilian airliner over siani in early 1973?
Yep, the possibilities, while not limitless, are not to be sneered at.
Perhaps Shelly Alderson can finance it from his deep pockets of blood-drenched shekels?
This idea, should I 'TM' it? I'd hate for it to fall into the wrong hands!
" In his 2006 book Prisoners, Goldberg described a scene from Ktzi'ot in which his friend repeatedly hit a Palestinian prisoner in the head with a with a heavy, sharp-edged army radio, beating him to a bloody pulp, a beating that Goldberg "deduced was prompted by something [the prisoner] said." Goldberg admits that he lied to cover up the crime: "I found another military policeman, and handed off the wobbling prisoner, who was by now bleeding on me. 'He fell,' I lied." "
Well, does this make our pudgy polemicist Goldberg a "bystander"?
I await the moment when Rep King starts, in official fora, waving around sheets of paper which he claims to list the names of practicing Islamofascists operating freely in the US without hindrance from federal authorities.
It's too absurd to even comtemplate, so expect it shortly. It might even be funny, once you get beyond the sadness of King's limitless stupidity and tool-ness.
Parole was abolished in the federal system several decades ago. The best any federal inamte can hope for is a maximum 10% reduction in sentence for good beahvior.
"The Sentencing Reform Act of 1984 abolished parole eligibility for federal offenders who commit offenses on or after November 1, 1987. It also provided for the abolition of the United States Parole Commission on November 1, 1992. However, when the Congress provided for the abolition of the Parole Commission, it failed to make adequate provision for persons sentenced under the law in effect prior to November 1, 1987, who had not completed their prison terms by the phase-out date. Elimination or reduction of parole eligibility for such cases would raise serious ex post facto clause issues. Therefore, the Judicial Improvements Act of 1990 extended the Commission an additional five years (until November 1, 1997) to handle "old law" cases. The Parole Commission Phaseout Act of 1996 again extended the Parole Commission for an additional five years (until November 1, 2002) for the same reason. In addition, the Parole Commission Phaseout Act of 1996 requires the Attorney General to report to Congress yearly, commencing in May 1998, as to whether it is most cost-effective for the Parole Commission to remain a separate agency or whether its functions (and personnel) should be assigned elsewhere. If the Attorney General recommends incorporating the Parole Commission's functions in another component of the Department of Justice, the Attorney General's plan shall take effect in November of the year in which it is submitted, unless Congress by law provides otherwise. If the parole functions are transferred pursuant to this provision, they will continue as long as necessary without respect to the November l, 2002, expiration date provided elsewhere in the legislation. The Act also reinstates the twelve-year limitation on service as a Parole Commissioner contained in the Parole Commission and Reorganization Act of 1976, and provides for the reduction in the number of Commissioners to two Commissioners on December 31, 1999, and to one Commissioner on December 31, 2001."

It is typical of the free-Pollard crowd that they have consistently tried to play for sympathy for JJP on the basis that he is serving time with no possiblity of parole. Yeah, just like pretty much every other federal inmate. Interestingly, as Pollard's criminal acts took place prior to November 1, 1987, he might still be eligible for parole after he has served sufficient time [which by now he certainly has] to become parole-eligible?
As to why JJP has failed to apply for parole, as a practical matter it's clear that to do so would be a further admission of guilt, which he, his masters in the Mossad, and The Israel Lobbyists want at all costs to avoid
When does POTUS Obama's obvious philosemitism become masochist self-destruction?
This really is pitiable.
As Dersh likes to describe himself as "of counsel" to the Israeli gov't [or at least his publisher likes to so describes Dersh on dust jackets, why isn't Obama asking AG Holder to open an investigation as to whether Dersh is in compliance with the Foreign Agents Registration Act?
Yes, it's a rhetorical question.
Personally, I love it when those world class frauds show themselves to have feet of clay.
It's just too easy, but from Wikipedia re The Nuremberg Laws:
" The first law, The Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honour,[24] prohibited marriages and extramarital intercourse between "Jews" (the name was now officially used in place of "non-Aryans") and "Germans" and also the employment of "German" females under forty-five in Jewish households."
link to en.wikipedia.org
From The Jewish Virtual Library:
"The Nuremberg Laws by their general nature formalized the unofficial and particular measures taken against Jews up to 1935. The Nazi leaders made a point of stressing the consistency of this legislation with the Party program which demanded that Jews should be deprived of their rights as citizens. "

I hate referencing show tunes [of all things!], but from "South Pacific" [I think] it looks painfully obvious that some Israelis habe been Carefully Taught.
What next, I wonder? Will Israeli's Xtian and Moslem citizens be forced to wear yellow crucufixes and yellow stars and cresents? And what about the hapless occupiees in the West Bankl? What further indignities do Bibi & company have in store? Stay tuned kids.
Real Big Sigh.
I think "Hatikva" is the Israeli national anthem, but it probably has one or more older meaning beyond that.
Gee, poor mister Luce must be turning over in his grave. Once a proponent of The American Century, his prize journalistic child has joined the mainstream media pack and become a shameless, unselfconscious shill for the most disastrous "ally" and self-destructive policies ever embraced by US foreign policy mavens.
Well, the guy who wrote, back in 1977 "Begin - rhymes with Fagan" must have retired quite some time ago.
Think this will make any difference to the unspeakable Reverand Hagee and his deluded flock? Think again. Alas.
A bad day for Bibi is a GREAT DAY for America.
Given the direction of the NY Daily News under Morty's insipid and Likudist-centric ownership, i would suspect they were really disgruntled subscribers.
Never though I would miss the red-baiting, commie-bashing NY Daily News of my youth, but...
I readily conceed the adjective "awful" but I have my doubts about the "human being" construction.
Hey, what happened here? This is a major disappointment.
Is Finkelstein channelling Noam Chomsky?
First Goldstone, now Finkelstein?
I fear that you are right. It's more than justified tthis moment.
I have personally given up challa bread, bagels, the use of yiddish-derived words like "goniff" and "chutpzah," and erotic fanatsies of Israeli model Bar-Rafaeli [that was indeed a real sacrifice].
This is not going to liberate one grain of Palestinain soil, but at least it's a show of solidarity. For what it's worth. Little, I fear.
Be careful what you wish for - congress will no doubt find a scad of needy Israeli kids to bestow breakfast and lunch upon.
"Lands of her fathers" is an old trope, used ironically [or so i thought] to indicate Glick's religious roots in the Holy Land.
Still, i'd love to know if she has ever renounced her USA citizenship, as she is a de facto Israeli [and, under the Law of Return, de jure as well]. Hey, there's lots of Koreans, Chinese, East Indians, etc... clamoring to get into this great country. No sense wasting a spot on glick, as she cares so little for us.
Kudos to the comments of marc b. and Charon.
I've got a more pressing concern - has Glick ever renounced her USA citizenship? I suspect she holds on to it the way an NRA member holds on to his 30.06. Just in case thing get too hot for Caroline in the land of her fathers and she has to hightail it back to the safety of the USA. If not, is there any way to discredit her by publicizing that inconvenient truth?
I keep getting emails about a nascent "Occupy AIPAC" movement [I think it's from Americans to End The Occupation.]
Your comment could be it's tagline - "We Are The 97%."
It never ceases to amaze or to digust me, the automatic equation of any criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism. Will this trope ever die it's long-overdue and well-deserved death?
" When the BDS proposal made its way to UVM’s Socially Responsible Investing Working Group, Fogel began to field calls from Jewish alumni and donors who were concerned, he said, that the university was going to take an anti-Semitic position that “would have ended their relationship with the community and their support for it.” "
Well, echoing Marx my advice to you is to read it twice - the first time as tragedy, the second time time as farce.
Let me know your best distance for the projectile vomit very likely to occur while you read that creature's brilliant musings and observations.
"Brand Israel" tanking?
Is it too mean/too snarky to opine that here's one extremely dissatisfied customer who fervantly wishes for total product recall?
Well, he's gone and his suffering is over. No matter what, let's hope he's in a better place than the one he left. IFthere is any other place after death, which CH did not believe.
BUT, WTF? He was unbearable and insufferable as a trendy leftist, and became more unbearable and insufferable as a lackey of the Israelis, and add "breathtakingly destructive" to his manifest political faults.
In any case, his pain is over. The rest of us live with the pain of the consequences of the brain-addled policies he promoted with such monotonous regularity and metrononic predictability.
Absolutely amazing. Gingrich denies the reality of the Palstinians, denies their Right of Return to pander to his Likudist would-be supporters, yet supports an ill-disguised mass amnesty for millions of illegal aliens with no claim in either fact or right on the USA, all the while slobbering out some crocodile tears about how he doesn't want to break up the families of those illegals.
As the kids say, WTH? and WTF?
Can anyone check to see if Newt's "degeees" are legit or from the back of some matchbook cover institution of hiigher learning?
Let's hope so, but face facts, Paul is just too marginal and too outside the mainstream to be a viable long-tern contender. He'll fade quickly enough, but let's hope that his Israel-skepticism finds some traction with the other candidates [HA!] and the public at large HA! HA!!].
Interestingly, KSM admitted, while being waterboarded 183 times [and we know how effective torture is when it comes to elicting the truth], that US support of Israel was his overwhelming personal motivation for his participation in the 911 attack. [And there's no reason to belive that KSM is unique in that POV]. A pity Scheiffer doesn't want to dreg that inconvenient fact out of the memory hole, and a pity that Paul didn'tthink to do it himself.
Has no one inventoried Brooklyn College's supply of bathroom tissue? Perhaps they were facing a shortage and thought ot put AD's "papers" to its most productive use?
Any chance that DR will give up the ghost, make himself a honest man, renounce his america citizenship and make aliyah to Israel?
[I awake with a start] wow, that was some dream I just had! Yo see, Dennis Ross...
Given the inevitable? and obvious hatefulness of Rachel' emotions and thoughts [if they can so charitably be described as such], it's clear that the world would be better better served not by her stream-of-consciousness but by a stream-of-unconsciousness.
Sweet Jesus, what it's going to take with this?
Can't say the reasons why? As in don't know? Or as in afraid to say publicly? I expect better from Pillar.
Really, when representatives of Big Oil weasel into, er, excuse me, are appointed to gov't positions which allow them to "regulate" the very industry which has enriched them to no end, no one has a problem seeing that there is a conflict. Likewise, reps from Big Pharma, Agribiz, the Big 3 Automakers, etc...regulating the various industries from which they hail [and no doubt plabn to return] you name it. conflicts are spotted with more frequency than Elvis, UFOs, bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster.
But when loyal and dedicated servants of Israel and Likudism and Zionist expansionism, who have tireslessly advocated all manner of pillage and plunder and rapinge [yes, it's archaic] on behalf of The Light Unto The Nations are appointed to positions of authority formulating and executing US foreign policy, and suddenly the US finds itself engaged in a war with Iraq, a war which the Solomon-like authors of "A Clean Break" tirelessly advocated with every Jabotinskyite breath, suddenly we don't see a conflict? Or are afraid to see a conflict?
Come on, what are we, children?
If we can't see this conflict, we may as well slash our wrists nad our throats with Occam's Razor
From another context, we can't help but wonder [paraphase] : at long last, have they no shame?
Still, some among the most hardline Zionists do not hesitate to shoot children, often under the flimsiest of pretexts, so why would we expect them to treat the artwork of kids any more leniently?
Umm, if this is linked to the Israeli Consul General, would that not constitute interference in US domestic affairs? And if so, could not the US Dept of State declare the Israeli CG persona non granta and demand his/her expulsion?
Yawn. Just awoke from my nap, had the craziest dream about the US protesting outrageous acts of interference by Israel in purely domestic US affairs...
Can the rest of us be pardoned if we suspect that not solving the I/P conflict, or worse still, resolving it on terms totally favorable to Israel, is the keyt o POTUS Obama's second term.? The good rabbis surely realize this, when will the rest of us sheeple be allowed to tumble to that thought?
Well, that's the kind of news that makes me want to "hit" the bottle.
It's 10 o'clock, do you know where your congreesman is? What what interests he's serving?
Hey, as US Ambassador to the UN, "a lot" is a total understatement.
does anyone dare to ask Ms. rice if sahe ever personally disagrees with the drivel she's forced to espouse by virtue of her position? and does she wear sensible shoes when, as US Ambassador to the UN, she's expected to walk-out of various int'l fora critical of Israel?
No mystery to these jaded eyes.
The merest mention of former Gotham Chief Executive Ed "Crazy Eddie" koch is all you need to know that the interests and the proper care and feeding of Zionism and Israel First and Lidukism and The Gush are foremost in word and deed, though not openly or honestly mentioned.
Additional news flash from former Sec Def Gates : the sun rose in the east this morning, and is expected to set in the west this evening.
Better late than never, of course, but why not give voice to these ideas when in office? The worst that will happen is he's dismissed from his Cabinet post and winds up on the wrong end of typical likukist, Israel-first libels and slanders and prevarications. At least we'd know Gates had a pair, and was willing to go down, guns blazing.
Id like to add, "and without shame."
Paraphrasing erich Segal: "Being Zionist/Israeli/Likudist means never having to say you're sorry. Because you're never wrong."
Elsewhere,Ii have suggestedthat the Israeli national motto is along the lines of "What have you done for me lately?" "Lately "being defined as no more than the last five seconds.
I'd rather boil out my urine and drink that.
Good for Romney. I knew a tiny something of his dad had to have rubbed off on him.
But let's see if he can continue to uphold that belief under the inevitable barrage of criticism he's going to be forced to endure.
I do recall that tiresome little novelty item from circa 1995, but I need more proof than Adam Sandler. A Sports Illustrated profile of Carew from around 1982-83 stated that [as of then] he had not officially converted. But that's almost 30 years ago.
Here's the test: let Carew apply for entry into Israel under the Law of Return, and then let him express interest in moving into an illegal West Bank settlement. But i'm afraid that even if RC is still as goyish as Cotton Mather, he might be allowed in as a propaganda-PR stunt.
Doesn't count, a convert [but just try telling THAT to the late Dick Young].
BTW, it's not clear that Carew ever officially converted, his interest in Judaism stemmed from the fact that his wife was Jewish. [ He may have done so after I stopped following baseball many years ago.]
And no doubt Bobby Thomson was an anti-Semite for hitting "The Shot Heard 'Round The World"?
By Allah, talk about a world-class level of insecurity? BrancaJewish under mosaic law is interesting, but hardly a world-changing event. Sigh.
As for the comments of The Dersh, well, want else can you expect from that creature?
I really don't know why we would expect anything different or anything better from Morris.
He's clearly so drunk with power over the privledged position of "his" narrative of the I/P conflict versus the I/P conflict as narrated by the victims, that any questioning, any doubts, any disagreement could only be the result of anti-Semitism, Arab Islamofascist violence, and jihadi murderousness.
Morris and his ilk clearly live in a world all their own - we're lucky indeed that they deign to allow the rest of us to visit from time to time. While we do so, we should neither be seen nor heard. Especially not seen.
It's going to be tough for Morris et. al. when reality finally catches up to them and falls on them like a ton of bricks.
Americans, not so much?
I wonder if S&P has downgraded Israel gov't bonds credit worthiness/credit rating, as they essentially are guaranteed by the saps beter now as the american taxpayer?
Dan Crowther above says it well.
Does Gov Perry's so-called faith require him to stand with his coreligionists in Israel who suffer discrimination and harassment at the hands of the ethno-religious chauvanists who make up the Zionist majority? Or is there not enough votes in that for it to matter to him?
Xtians like gov Perry always make me feel much more warmly about the lions.
Hey, we can't be worried about any stupid death toll of American or non-Americans.
Gilead Shalit is still a POW!
Those are the priorities we need to worry over.
No surprise that the Likudist creature Eric Cantor is one of our peripatetic parliamantarians.
I wonder how many of that 20% voted against the extension of unemployment benefits for the long-term jobless? Or the Obama health care legislation, flawed as it was? Or to raise temporarily the US debt ceiling? Or any number of proposals one might care to mention which do not involve the care and feeding of Israeli aggression, war crimes and ethnic cleasing, but might be of some incidental material benefit to the US masses?
But of course, were one to mention any of that, Guess What one would be accused of?
Following up Dan Crowther's comment above, when our reps return to our fair shores, what can we expect them to say? And to vote for? I shudder.
Alas, both of these accursed daughters of darkness are more mainstream than PW or any of the regular contributors to this forum.
It's by no means an aberration - under another handle I used to post frequently on a very obscure political message board where I was the only Israel-skeptical voice. The amount of abuse I've taken has been phemomenal, with accusations of anti-Semite, Jew-hater, etc.. coming fast and furious and ever-so predictably.
Those two are in no way atypical, they represent a bigger slice of opinion than any of us imagine, or feared, and the loudness and shrillness of their voices is beyond measure.
