Anyone who witnessed a rabbi sucking up the blood of a male infant during the circumcision ritual, goes a long way toward helping us to understand the origins of the belief by anti-Semites of yore that Jews practiced blood sacrifice, though not, as they believed, on Christians, but on fellow Jews, all the more chilling because it was done in a religious setting.
What does the British playright, Dr. David Miller have to say about this? If it is taboo, to discuss it here, does that make it also taboo to discuss arranged marriages for American Hasidic Jewish women versus when it is done by Muslims or wigs versus head scarves?
Why do some Jews feel they are qualified to teach whites how to be racist?
Is that so different from those Zionists who have pledged their allegiance to Israel yet take an oath of office to support the Constitution of the United States?
Being a Palestinian is wholey suffiecient when you are dealing with racists. After all are there any people who support Israel's occupation and ethnic cleansing who are not racists?
Our media keeps US taxpayers blissfully unaware of what it is costing them.
In the olden days we believed our media when it reported what people (supposedly) said, including Arabs. Now we know their words were carefully edited to fit in with a manufactured image to fulfill the larger purpose of engineering consent by the use of such imagery. Why else have ordinary Americans come to hate and fear Palestinians, Arabs, and Iranians, if not by the intent of our media? Hearing Arabs speak for themselves replaces the cooked up stereotypes with a genuine variety of opinions and ideas, undercutting the former strength of the Israel Lobby. More free speech beats out the old censorship every time.
North Carolina is the home of many military bases. I wonder what they think about the push to have Obama pardon Jonathan Pollard.
If you have no actual evidence that Obama disagrees with what Israel is doing, then you are projecting. That keeps you from facing reality and from any obligation to change it.
Nothing new here. The only direction is able to move is to the right.
Obama's slogan in his campaign for re-election, "Yes we con!"
Congress is Israeli occupied territory and its members and our media know it. I suspect that same media to to its usual bit to "engineer consent" to get our Representatives and Senators to get busy and do something about this. Either that or the media will do a news blackout on TIAA and MSCI.
With Congress under the control of Israel's fifth column, expect to see some sort of legislation from these American Quislings.
Grotesque. Another reason for NPR, and others in the broadcast wing of the Israel Lobby, to boast that a fellow Jew has risen to the top of the heap in the power structure. Pointing out that the neocons are disproportionately Jewish, is still considered by them to be an observation that, however true, is anti-Semitic.
The flaw in the balance of power equation (i.e. US vs USSR) is that your policy becomes limited to what their policy is not. Think of a Venn Diagram that contains communism and anti-communism. The communism allows itself to change and get into the anti-communism zone. The anti-communism zone is forever changing to make sure that it gets out of that part of its old zone where the communism has moved to. Such a policy is entirely reactive and prevents both initiative and its corresponding imagination..
A double whammy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pow
Haven't you noticed that both our print and broadcast media has been doing just that for years? Isn't that the purpose of the Israel Lobby or, if you prefer, Israel's fifth column?
For the record, Failed Messiah makes the essential point about Gestetner's job.
"Gestetner's job title was, in fact, "Director of Jewish Outreach." Note the title says nothing about what type of Jews, Orthodox or not, haredi or not, Gestetner was supposed to reach out to. His job title implies all Jews, and that's how the GOP itself presented it last week."

Special credit to Jewish Voices for Peace which has been lobbying and demonstrating for this at TIAA-CREF for years. This is huge and you deserve our congratulations.
Add to this missinformation by academics, I wanted to puke when I saw my alumni association was sponsoring a trip to Israel with no mention about the opportunity to see occupation and ethnic cleansing in action. I wonder how many other alumni associations have become part of the Israel Lobby.
If anyone can name a supporter of the occupation and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians who is not a racist, any number of Remnick's staffers are the kind of liberals who should be able to do just that.
Some here have come to believe that Remnick was somehow easing up on his support for Israel's occupation and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. Were Remnick actually come to oppose the occupation, the New Yorker's owners would fire him as he surely knows.
Clearly a breakthrough is needed in the US print and broadcast media. Until serious numbers of Jewish owners and managers start to report regularly on the occupation and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, other Jews in that same position and non-Jews risk being called self-hating or anti-Semitic if they dare to do serious reporting about what the US government and the Israel Lobby are doing to the Palestinians.
Can anyone name any of the major print or broadcast media outlets that is not owned or managed by members of the Israel Lobby? What is the definition of "fifth column" anyway?
Lebovitz doesn't say which Israeli original immigrants/settlers imported the hummus and felafel nor does he let us know what countries their native cusine came from.
It's impossible that the imaginary power of a handful of wealthy Jews matches reality. Our media encourages our politicians as well as the public to believe that such is the case. I fully expect that as the election campaign gets further underway and Obama becomes more and more aware of the growing disillusion of so many who worked for his first election, he will start a war against Iran solely because he believes such a war will make more secure his re-election. He imagines he will thus be apppreciated "for especially meritorious contribution to (1) the security or national interests of the United States, or (2) world peace, or (3) cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”
Thanks to M. J. Rosenberg for noting that this legislation is premised on the notion that refugees don't include children of refugees, which means the children of the Jewish victims of the Nazis have no claim to their parents' expropriated property. Brilliant thinking by AIPAC and its ignorant supporters.

Keep in mind that American settlers to Israel referred to the natives as "Schwarze Jews." Of course they looked no different than the native Palestinians who have always been fair game for racists, not just in Israel, but in the US media as well.
Great great advertisement. New York's MTA probably would not have allowed it at the bus stop or in the subway.
Once upon a time there was a magazine in most libraries called Vital Speeches. Falk's eloquence makes his speech the Vital Speech of the moment and likely of the year and possibly of the decade. Dennis Bernstein's Flashpoints on KPFA this evening gave it the whole hour. Rehearing Falk makes clear the eloquence of the man.
When Johnson twice called back planes the Navy had sent to determine what had happened during the attack on the USS Liberty, he made cemented the power of the Israel Lobby, going so far as being a Commander-in-Chief willing to sacrifice US sailors under his command to the Lobby.
Is it legal for anyone who has sworn their allegiance to another country to take an oath of office to uphold the laws of the US?
Wasn't it Jonathan Pollard who provided Israel with every scrap of information about US missles that he could get his hands on?
Actually he is out now having served almost a year in a minimum security Federal Prison under a 20 month sentence.
Jonathan Pollard thinks he should be released because he was a Jew doing his duty. Ackerman and Frank, as Jews, agree. Does anyone seriously believe that Ackerman, Frank, and the rest of the Israel Lobby would be arguing to free the spy if he were not Jewish? Claiming to be victims of anti-Semitism for that ilk is just a sloganeer's way of having your cake and eating it too.
Thank you. I notice that the talk lasted just over an hour.
I am, of course, sharing your link with mention that he discusses the USS Liberty.
If anyone is interested in reading the Financial Times profile of Jane Harman here's the link:
link to ft.com
The online edition shows the author of the puff piece to be Annie Maccoby Berglof, which was not part of the print edition. Hopefully Berglof's email is available as it often is with FT articles.
Please let us know if and when a copy of his talk is available. It is a great taboo in the US make mention of the USS Liberty as it is to discuss the coin Goebbels had minted in 1938 to celebrate the collaboration between the Nazis and Zionists with the Star of David on one side and the swastika on the other.
I presume Jane Harman is also pushing to spring the spy Pollard.
No word on freeing Shamai Leibowitz for catching a spy.
The House and Home section (page 2) of the weekend (June 9/10, 2012) US edition of the Financial Times has a flattering profile of former Congresswoman Jane Harman who is now Director, President, and CEO of the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars in Washington, DC. No author for the puff piece is listed but it does not mention that Shamai Leibowitz is in Federal Prison for revealing that, as translator for the FBI he reported to his bosses that Congresswoman Harman had shared classified information with Israeli agents, going public because the FBI refused to take action against her.
I think it is safe to say that the Wilson Center was well aware that they were putting an Israeli agent in charge. That a “liberal” Democrat is in charge of a right wing foundation that supports drone warfare and promotes the notion that Arab women are losers in the Arab Spring, is something we have come to expect in our wacky world where most of Americans’ misinformation comes from the top.
What kind of reporter for the Financial Times would omit mention of Shamai Leibowitz or is the FT, like the NY Times, NPR, etc., a mouthpiece for the Israel Lobby?

Abbas is well aware that the US is paying his bills. The slower he pushes for a state of Palestine, the longer the money will flow. Not pushing at all would end his image as a leader of any kind to Palestinian victims of occupation and ethnic cleansing.
Thanks for the reminder about the General Assembly vote being independent within the UN. Of course in 2004 the International Court of Justice ruled that "the Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (including East Jerusalem) have been established in breach of international law," and the US has certainly flouted that ruling.
And President Obama and Ambassador Rice will do their best, as proof of US support for the Arab Spring, to make sure Abbas does not succeed.

No matter the audience, it's the editor's job to make sure that whatever the publishers/owners don't like, does not get printed and vice-versa.
O'Connell showed good thinking. Any and all information can be wrong, coercion guarantees that a portion of it will be.
The phrase is "piece process," not to be confused with the obviously incorrect, "peace process."
Meanwhile they will be promoting the use of the word "Arabist" to be used against their enemies.
Speaking of percentages, if you can figure out what percent of Israeli Jews support the occupation and cleansing of the Palestinians, you have the percentage of Israeli Jews who are racists.
Which means that if Hitler would only have called the Warsaw Ghetto a "neighborhood," . . .
Fresh Air promotes stale propaganda. NPR and the NY Times are both very important members of the league of Israeli propagandists. Neither of which likely appreciates the irony of two members propping up each other.
It appears either that the State Department embassy staff is pre-approved by the Israel Lobby or that the State Department picks staffers who they believe are acceptable to the Israel Lobby.
Member organizations of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs include the Jewish Labor Committee and Jewish War Veterans. If the Council is a mouthpiece of Jewish neocons does this mean that the Jewish Labor Committee opposes Occupy Wall Street. Does this mean the Jewish War Veterans support springing Israel's spy, Jonathan Pollard, from prison? Or is the Council a rubber stamp to be used at will by the Israel Lobby.
Democracy wins.
Speaking of the Times soft pedalling of racism, if the Times knows of a supporter of the ethnic cleansing and occupation of the Palestinians by Israel who is not a racist, the paper ought to share that name with its readers to help them become better informed.
Thank you. I am puzzled where Finkelstein got the idea that BDS supporters require a one state solution. It seems out of nowhere.
It seems not inappropriate for the ex-officio head of the US Congress to vet a candidate for Vice-President of the US. Our Senators and Representatives have no such objection.
Just this moment on Democracy Now, Norman Finkelstein said you were with him at the showing of 5 Broken Cameras. We look forward to your review.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives have long considered their head to be an ex-officio job of whoever is Israel's Prime Minister. Many of them have pledged their loyalty, as Zionists, to the state of Israel in clear violation of their oath to the US Constitution.
That the AP felt forced to discuss this, is another win for BDS.
Who better to certify that all of the targets were Muslims.
"At each of the five extermination camps, the Nazis created orchestras of prisoner-musicians, forcing them to play while their fellow prisoners marched to the gas chambers."
link to fcit.usf.edu
Great news. Nora Barrows-Friedman reported in her podcast that almost daily there are victories to report in the BDS movement, however small, but there are more and more of them.
Wired is caught in the trap of wanting to be with it while having owners/managers who feel compelled to keep their silence (consent) on occupation and ethnic cleansing as does the rest our media.
Whoever came up with it, others are sure to follow from the opposite side. This is after all software technology and not the product of magicians' secrets.
This bit by Leahy is a welcome exception to the rule. Our Congress, both the House and the Senate, have for some time considered an ex-officio position for whoever is the Prime Minister of Israel, Netanyahu the most recent, is to be serve as the head of the US Congress. You can see this by the standing ovation that Netanyahu received by its members compared to the more tepid ovation for Obama, who merely serves as the President of the United States.
The young who are the future versus the old past. Thanks for all that you do. We will surely be seeing more of you and less of the old.
Thanks for a reminder that many in our military officer corps are truly professional insofar as they are not the close minded stick soldiers so many imagine them to be. When our political leaders, whether Cheney or Obama, authorize and promote torture and assassination, it puts officers in a bind when they are trying to instill in our soldiers that there are laws of war, let alone our Constitution, that make such doings illegal. Those officers also are well aware that acting as terrorists and torturers also does not work militarily since that is how we make more enemies for the American people.
Missing is mention of non-official confirmation to latest fairy story "U.S. officials among the targets of Iran-linked assassination plots"
May 28, 2012
Reporting - The Washington Post Style
Joby Warrick reports for the Washington Post:
U.S. officials among the targets of Iran-linked assassination plots
In November, the tide of daily cable traffic to the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan brought a chilling message for Ambassador Matthew Bryza, then the top U.S. diplomat to the small Central Asian country. A plot to kill Americans had been uncovered, the message read, and embassy officials were on the target list.
...
The threat, many details of which were never made public, appeared to recede after Azerbaijani authorities rounded up nearly two dozen people in waves of arrests early this year. Precisely who ordered the hits, and why, was never conclusively determined. But U.S. and Middle Eastern officials now see the attempts as part of a broader campaign by Iran-linked operatives to kill foreign diplomats in at least seven countries over a span of 13 months. ... the officials say.

Alterman fears the success of BDS will end the Israel that we know. For him, that's the problem -- an Israel minus occupation and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians, all in the name of saving Judaism from its Jewish and its non-Jewish enemies.
Is Alterman responding to anything Ahmadinejad actually said, or is he confusing that with the many things so very many people claim Ahmadinejad said?
Is it just a coincidence that the headline "Iran has enough uranium for five nuclear weapons, claims US thinktank" fails to note that the thinktank, Institute for Science and International Security is that of David Albright who has a history of peddling anti-Iranian "scientific" information of behalf of Israel?
link to guardian.co.uk
"Both Marcy, here, and b, over at Moon of Alabama, have roundly criticized the cartoon released on Sunday by AP’s George Jahn purporting to depict a chamber at Iran’s Parchin site where various groups accuse Iran of carrying out work aimed at an explosive trigger device for a nuclear weapon. David Albright, working through his Institute for Science and International Security, has been near the forefront in most of these accusations, with one of his accusations coming out in December of 2009 (pdf). As described in his 2009 piece, Albright accuses Iran of attempting to replicate A.Q. Khan’s uranium deuteride (UD3) initiator for a bomb, which “works by the high explosives compressing the nuclear core and the initiator, producing a spurt of neutrons as a result of fusion in D-D reactions. The neutrons flood the core of weapon-grade uranium and initiate the chain reaction.”
Prior to the release of the cartoon, Albright had claimed on May 8 that he had detected activity aimed at “cleansing” the Parchin site. I debunked that claim the next day, by pointing out that all traces of radioactivity cannot be washed away and that Albright’s claims would mean that the waste water carrying the radioactivity was allowed to drain freely onto the grounds surrounding the building, where the radioactivity could be found without much effort. Albright repeats those claims in Jahn’s article accompanying the cartoon, and he brings in another expert to support his claims that residue from testing a trigger device could be scrubbed:"

A good place for the US to again test our nuclear depleted weapons as we did in Libya, leaving the grateful citizens to clean up the permanent nuclear waste we dumped in order to "liberate" them. Of course most are Muslims, so that's just delivering what we call Judeo-Christianity to the non-Judeo-Christian heretics.
I am still trying to find someone/anyone who is not a racist, who supports Israel's occupation and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. Does anyone imagine the New York Times could provide us with any names?
To prove their genuine support for Israel, a majority of the Congress will have to agree to move to a new and permanent site in Tel Aviv. Nothing less will satisfy!
Provided that Egypt would protect Gaza's borders and skies from Israeli attacks and overflights, and protect Gaza's freedom of the sea at its Mediterranean shores, a temporary separation from the West Bank would put the collaborationist element of the PLO in the spotlight. Finally Gaza could build its part of Palestine as commerce develops and grows from land, sea, and air.
The point being that a non-Arab who doesn't like Arabs calls non-Arabs who don't have that same point of view, Arabists. Jew lover sounds old fashioned today, but it hasn't always been so. There was a time when anti-Semitic non-Jews referred to other non-Jews who did not share their prejudice, Jew-lovers.
Calling someone an Arabist is no different than calling someone a Jew lover.
Unlike the AIPAC crowd, Christian neo-cons have no problem with the low iqs so many of its members share. Indeed, their propaganda relies on it.
Doing intellectual work doesn't make you an intellectual. No one doubts that Hannah Arendt was an intellectual.
Think of such mis-labeled goods as smuggled. Since the Israel label has become meaningless, the sensible thing is to boycott all goods from Israel.
The list of names of AIPAC's friends in Rosenberg's article is stunning.
I shared the spectacular cartoon with the question, what American media outlet would print this cartoon from an Isaeli site? It is wildly outrageous as it confronts the reality we know all to well as propagated by our media and their servile politicians. Philip, this is what makes your site the treasure that it is.
Now when people ask who I will be voting for, I can tell them Dr. Jill Stein. Thank you Matthew for the information which I shall be sharing across cyberspace.
The Pentagon knew well what it was paying for when it ordered this made to order course. Who was their purchasing agent?
By ceding that criticism of occupation and ethnic cleansing by Israel can be interpreted as anti-Semitic, these would be analysts/critics, by default, silently assent to the crime against Palestinians. The criticsm of neo-con thinking by Madow, Berman, and the like, is shallow and vacuous because they choose to practice self-censorship.
Only 20 years? You are very generous to our politicians.
That was too good to keep secret. Thanks for sharing it with us. I have already passed in on.
Israel's supporters can be asked a simple question, can they name anyone who supports the occupation and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians who is not a racist?
That's about as big a shock as reading in today's papers that the US has resumed arms shipments to Bahrain.
Those afraid to speak out include our Jewish media moguls and managers. Surely all do not support occupation and ethnic cleansing.
Oh the temerity to require that NGO's be accountable to those they claim to be helping! It is just like Haiti.
The US media has long been Israel's megaphone. NPR has long been a non-source for news and information on the occupation and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians by Israel.
Tor, like the Zionists he represents, is choosing to be on the wrong side of history.
Only if Netanyahu changes his position will the Obama administration change theirs.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. From what you cite from his autobiography, Miller acknowledged that he was shaped by his Judaism but was not molded by it. The April 29 Cat Radio Cafe program WBAI featured a well done interview with Jerry Stiller who mentioned that being Jewish with a Catholic wife was appreciated by Ed Sullivan who featured Stiller and Meara on many of his tv shows, Sullivan being Catholic with a Jewish wife.

M J Rosenberg beautifully summed up the new political union, "Sam's Club Merges with Walmart."

Don't let your ears deceive you. Both Israel and the US consider this a "piece" process.
A reminder that Israeli born Shamai Lewbowitz is serving a 20 month term in Federal Prison for going public that Harman was sharing classified information with Israel. Leibowitz was working as a translator for the FBI which refused to follow up on his information when he reported it. Harman is free, but she is what passes for a liberal Democrat these days , traitor that she is.
Rolling Stone is giving this more serious and more dramatic coverage than the rest of the media. This is good news. Thanks for sharing.

Thousands in Jordan call for end of peace treaty with Israel
In series of nationwide protests, leftist and Islamist activists call to cut ties with Israel, burning Israeli flags and chanting 'death, death to Israel.'
By DPA
Thousands of Jordanians took to the streets on Friday demanding an end to the country's 18-year-old Wadi Araba peace treaty with Israel.
In a series of nationwide protests, leftist and Islamist activists urged Amman to cut ties with Israel, burning Israeli flags and chanting "death, death to Israel" and "the people want an end to Wadi Araba."
Protesters rallied in seven cities across the country, urging authorities to expel the Israeli ambassador from Amman, chanting "no to a Zionist embassy on our land."
Protest organizers, including the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood and youth movements, said the demonstrations came as a direct response to King Abdullah's recent nomination of Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh, who served as a key figure in the 1994 Jordan-Israel peace process.
Various political and social groups have expressed outrage over comments recently made by Tarawneh indicating that, if given a second chance, he would still support the controversial peace treaty.
"This is a person who obviously does not respect the people's will and his words are proof of how out of touch he is with average citizens," Jamil Abu Baker, a spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood, told dpa.
Popular opinion in Jordan is that the 1994 Wadi Araba treaty is a failure, with politicians and officials accusing Israel of not respecting its obligations under the pact, particularly regarding water sharing, Amman's custodianship over holy sites in Jerusalem, and access to the Palestinian territories.
Friday marked a departure from activists' demands for democratic reforms, the focus of the vast majority of the some 1,000 protests that have hit Jordan since the start of the so-called Arab Spring uprisings that were triggered in late 2010.

Once the border with Egypt is open full time, it is the beginning of the geographical separation of Gaza from the still occupied East Jerusalem and West Bank. It will mark the beginning of a Palestinian state.
