      I think they are in touch with a different reality - the one that reminds them of the mid-term elections and the current polls showing the Republicans in resurgence. Obama, the career politician, recognizes the brutal fact is that the US corporate media are pretty much in control of the minds of the masses and will give him one Hell of a ride if he wavers onto the humanitarian side on this issue; which he occasionally has done. God knows, he has been carefully surrounded by enough people with the 'proper' mindset to nudge him back on course.

      This is very sickening but, of course, it is part of a concerted effort throughout the entertainment industry and the media to publicly degrade and demonize Moslems in general and Arabs in particular. This has been going on for at least 60 years to my certain knowledge. It's hard to see it as anything other than a conspiracy and, of course, a situation where the conspirators are uniquely placed to refute any such accusation and, in turn, to demonize and thus to silence their accusers.
