There are all sorts of things that never make it in to the discourse Judaism is not hatred. It's Mensches versus Cossacks. I am with the Mensches. Fairuz is a Mensch. So are the people in Gaza, Hass, Gideon Levy, Yasmin Levy, Gurvitz, Zochrot, Btselem. The only Sabras who have managed to escape the suffocating Groupthink of Zionism are those who had parents who could see what was happening. We have to get Jews back to Menschkeit. The religion didn't survive this long by being asshole focused. http://www.haaretz.com/jewish/news/israeli-mk-gets-a-taste-of-palestinian-humiliation-at-qalandiyah-checkpoint.premium-1.516933 "And he is scared," wrote Kol, who has helped advance bills in the fields of children's rights, violence against children, health and education. "I am scared. I am scared that we will continue living like this. And that fear scares me." http://nationalinterest.org/commentary/brzezinski-the-syria-crisis-8636 But in the long run, a hostile region like that cannot be policed, even by a nuclear-armed Israel. It will simply do to Israel what some of the wars have done to us on a smaller scale. Attrite it, tire it, fatigue it, demoralize it, cause emigration of the best and the first, and then some sort of cataclysm at the end which cannot be predicted at this stage because we don’t know who will have what by when. And after all, Iran is next door. It might have some nuclear capability. Suppose the Israelis knock it off. What about Pakistan and others? The notion that one can control a region from a very strong and motivated country, but of only six million people, is simply a wild dream. In the corners there is light That is good for you And behind you, I have warned you, There are awful things https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BC1qbEjhDU

In reality the Zionists had very few choices. They didn't own land anywhere. The best place would have been somewhere in Europe. But it was too hard.

Palestine is on the wrong side of the Med like French Algeria and Andalusia were.
And the bride was already married.

Israel was only viable with a US security guarantee. Jewish rituals tell us that empires come and go. Judaism has beaten them all. You can even get the tshirt. So America will fall too.

I often walked down Ben Yehuda St thinking how vulnerable the whole project was. Lovely bagels but no inner calm .

    • Since the last mainifestation of the Nazi virus the bots have been on some roll

The 1947 UN GA vote was not going to get the 2/3rd majority required so the Zionists asked for a delay. And set about armtwisting and threatening. France was threatened with economic consequences. the Firestone corp took care of Liberia. Robert Nathan, a prominent Zionist , said “we used all tools at hand” Delegates of Latin American nations had mink coats sent to their wives. Haiti was promised international aid. The Philippines was threatened. The vote was a joke. The UN had no power to dispossess the Palestinians. Zionism has always been the same- Jewish money buys influence. The Achilles heel of Zionism is very little general public support for Jewish nihilism. And that is what is going to kill Israel

It is all about the longue duree, habibi
All the shisha wallahs know that

    • ....cuz you just might get it

    • The idea that the Jews are an elite group falls apart with the Orthodox. I never met a Shatnez Inspector with the smarts.

Prof. Yoram Harpaz is a senior lecturer at Beit Berl Teachers College and the editor of Hed Hahinuch, a major educational journal. Recalling the recent promise of Education Minister Shay Piron that classes in the first two weeks of the coming school year will be devoted to “emotional and social aspects of the summer’s events,” including “manifestations of racism and incitement,” Harpaz observes that schools in their present format “are incapable of dealing with the racist personality and identity.” He adds: “The schools are not geared for this. They can only impart basic knowledge and skills, hold examinations on them and grade the students. In fact, they have a hard time doing even that. In classes of 40 students, with a strict curriculum and exams that have to be held, it is impossible to engage in values-based education.” Yaron, a senior lecturer in sociology at Ashkelon Academic College, emphasizes how important teachers and the principal (and the education system in general) feel it is to stick to the curriculum and the lessons schedule–two islands of quiet amid a risk-laden reality. “Doing this makes it possible for the teachers not to enter a dynamic sphere, which obligates openness and is liable to open a Pandora’s box, too,” he notes. “The greatest threat to the teacher is that there will be noise–that someone will complain, that an argument will break out, etc. That danger looms especially large in subjects that interest young people, such as sexuality, ethnicity, violence and racism. Teachers lack the tools to cope with these issues, so they are outsourced, which only emasculates educational personnel even more.” The demand for quiet in the schools is not only an instrumental matter, deriving from the difficulty of keeping order in the classroom. There is also an ideological aspect involved. In general, there is a whole series of subjects that are not recommended for discussion in schools, such as the Nakba (or “catastrophe,” the term used by Palestinians to denote the establishment of the State of Israel), human rights and the morality of Israeli army operations. This was one of the reasons for the warnings issued by Tel Aviv University and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev during the fighting in the Gaza Strip about “extreme and offensive remarks.” Harpaz: “In Israel, the most political country there is, political education has not been developed as a discipline in which high-school students are taught how to think critically about political attitudes, or the fact that those attitudes are always dependent on a particular viewpoint and on vested interests.” What, then, can be done? According to Harpaz, the solution will not be found in discussions between the homeroom teacher and the students. Nor is a condemnation, however late, by the education minister sufficient. A more radical change is needed. “Values and outlooks are acquired in a lengthy process of identification with ‘significant others,’ such as teachers,” Harpaz explains. “This means that every aspect of the schools–patterns of teaching, evaluation methods, curricula, the physical structure and the cultural climate–has to change in the direction of becoming far more dialogical and democratic.” And he has one more recommendation: not to flee from political and moral dilemmas, or from possible criticism. “Our leaders are so fearful of criticism, but they don’t understand that critical education is what generates close ties and caring. We get angry at those we love.”

    • Is Bannon "good for the Jews", Jackdaw?

    • He was arrested on October 26 and has been held since for questioning by the Shin Bet security service, and for most of this period has been barred access to a lawyer.
According to the minutes in the case, at the hearing on a second remand on November 9, he told a military court judge in Petah Tikva, Maj. Yaron Ben Yosef: “You can establish from the doctor that I have back and shoulder pain, and three days ago I had numbness in my left arm as a result of the pain, and the pain has gone to my chest. Since Sunday they haven’t let me sleep. The interrogator has been just sitting there, as if he was guarding me … and their aim is for me not to sleep. Most of the interrogators have asked me more about whether I like seeing my wife without clothes on. One interrogator asked me: ‘How old is your son?’ I said ’18 years old.’ They said he will go to work for Israel as a collaborator.”

    • “One thing we cannot accept is, we put Israel’s fate in the hands of an election system. We must always make sure that both parties and candidates for both parties support Israel, so we will not be in a situation where one party loses the election, it would be bad for Israel.” -

    • Arabic is different. Cos it comes with a deep well of culture. Continuity and a different Weltanschauung.

When I lived in Cairo I realised you can't say certain things in arabic. Like "war on terror". Cos it was nonsense. Every language comes with its own power dynamic.

I come across various immigrants in Europe. Might see them on the train or whatever. I always listen out for the language. I have come across people who say Hamdulillah but just as part of a language I don't know.

I got a sweatshirt printed with hamdulillah/ الحمدلله on the front and البيت لنا و القدس لنا /the house is ours and Jerusalem is ours on the back. I know it from a Fairuz song .https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XrNaPFgyNkE

But it was such a nice interaction. Ya'ni.

I was in a bus and had my back turned and there were 3 sephardi Israelis behind me, They saw the Fairuz quote and one of them said "WTF". But I don't like arguing with Zionists in public. So I just ignored them.

The usual pattern of demagogues is to promise the moon, fail to deliver, and then blame vulnerable others for those failures. He's promised the moon. Now he has power. He's going to fail to deliver. He's not going to be able to bring a bunch of coal jobs back and a bunch of factory jobs back in this global economy. Period. Because you can't. It's not going to happen.
When he fails to deliver and the economic pain is the same as it is right now, he'll have two choices. He's going to have to spend a bunch of money on infrastructure jobs, which, frankly, I'm not mad at. Especially if they're not only in the red states. That will have, against the overall economy, some multiplier effects, but relatively limited impact. He's not going to want to pay for it, so he's going to have to do that depth of finance, which will have some economic consequences, maybe mild. Then he's going to start blaming people. He's going to start a war, he's going to start attacking immigrants or Muslims or Black Lives Matter or whatever. Because he's going to have to distract them from the no jobs. I think we have every reason to hope for the best but to expect and prepare for the worst.

    • In 2014 Ha'aretz ran a peace conference a couple of weeks before the IDF got the lawnmower out

      http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/israel-peace-conference/1.601122

"Almost every Israeli in the last 47 years has done military service in the territories. Almost all of them have had to do things that go against human decency and morality – often not for the sake of Israel’s security at large, but to protect some isolated outpost of settlers. If indeed Israel were to reach peace with the Palestinians and the Arab world, most Israelis would have to live with the painful realization that most of what Israel has done to the Palestinians was unnecessary; that Israel could have ended the occupation a long time ago; and that the energies and resources invested in the West Bank’s colonization could have been invested in Israel’s flourishing instead.
This idea is too difficult to bear, and the regret would be unendurable. It is, therefore, psychologically imperative to create a narrative that explains why the occupation was inevitable; why Israel had no choice but to hang onto the West Bank; why all the sacrifice in human lives, moral turpitude and political isolation were necessary for Israel’s survival. • http://www.nybooks.com/daily/2016/11/19/trump-election-expendable-america/

All of us who are familiar with rural areas and former industrial towns in this country know the impoverishment and hopelessness of many men and women who live there. Barely surviving by holding part-time jobs, since businesses now rarely hire full-time workers in order to avoid paying benefits, they are not just underpaid and constantly in debt, but know in their hearts that they and their children are expendable. Understandably, they are angry. When Democrats proclaimed that the economy was doing well and that we were still the greatest country in the world, they started listening to Trump, who told them what they could already plainly see, that we are in decline. These unfortunates, who’ve been cheated and swindled by bosses, mortgage banks, loan sharks, health insurance companies, and both political parties, have put all their hopes in a billionaire who has a long record of not paying taxes, cheating his workers and contractors out of their pay, and seemingly using his own “charitable” foundation as a slush fund. They voted for a buffoon who doesn’t care whether they live or die.

Jewish leadership is execrable. History repeats itself.

Chemi Shalev had a gruesome story from Argentina in the 70s. Israel supported the junta with arms sales while 3000 lefty Jews were murdered by the regime. Never trust a junkie

Israel is a settler colonial project. There was no Israeli identity 100 years ago. It had to be created. It was based on 1940s thinking about inferior races.

It was based on a few pillars

      -We are not Arabs
-The Arabs will always be weak
-We will always have the support of the US
      -We make our own reality
      - We have no past

    • Trump is existential for the Dems. He picked up on bluecollar anger. The Dems should have done that. The DNC smothered Sanders because he dared address popular disgust with a corrupt and failing economic system. Wasserman Shultz paved the way for Clinton. Clinton fellated all the donors. And still lost. Sanders is still the most coherent politican on twitter.

Trump will brutalise the people who voted for him over the next 4 years. Of his proposed tax cut 50% goes to the ultra rich with 0.8% left for bluecollar Americans. The fraud is epic.

When the chips were down did the lobby help the Dems or did it get in the way? It got in the way.

The US is not going to go down the road of climate hell for the sake of Israel. Sometimes luxuries are surplus to requirement.

  • Donald Trump picks anti-Muslim intel officer to be national security adviser
  • When Sanders changed political reality. And hasbara culture slapped him down.
    • Zionism is a culture of hatred . It comes straight outta the trauma od WW2. The internal Israeli conversation about Palestinians is so messed up.

Israel is taken for granted but very few outsiders appreciate how messed up the education system is. Young Yossi has to be taught to hate . You can't run an apartheid system with Mensches who are focused on personal development. They have to be deJudaised in order to live in Judistan. The Torah would ask what the point of this is.

Netanyahu is at it again over the fires. What an asshole.

That is why the reaction to Mohamed Assaf during the Arab Idol competit ion was so refreshing. Nancy Ajram is not f#cked up like your typical Hebrew speaker. She didn't see vermin. She just heard the voice

If the Torah in Israel was an animate thing it would have exploded years ago

And Jewish culture isn't hateful. You can't survive 3 millennia by running trauma as the operating system.

    • Yakov

There is an old historical debate between "Cleopatra's nose" and the longue durée. Is history made by incidental human factors and actions - Pascal's saying that "if Cleopatra's nose had been shorter, the whole face of the world would have been changed" - or is it determined by deeper currents which individual endeavour is powerless to retard or impel, as the great French historian Fernand Braudel insisted with his "long period" of change, beside which everyday political events were mere "dust.

I think Israel is a longue durée play . What goes on inside Yossi Israeli's head is a function of how Yossi was educated and how he consumes media . In modern Hebrew. Very important.

Where does Yossi go to, when he's alone in his bed?
What are the thoughts that surround him ?

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8XQZYIiNgo

Sometimes democracy acts against the public interest. Sometimes the ignorance of the public works against the public's interest.

Yossi is not educated to see the beauty of Hillel. He veers towards Masada. Hillel sleeps out in the rain in Israel.

You can bring a man to Torah but you can't make him understand.

    • Yakov how did you get to abandon the groupthink ? I wonder if Israel can be saved or will it go all the way to Masada again.

    • Assaf had the Egyptian judge in tears so often. I think it was the emotional impact of this refugee camp kid from the lowest circle of hell in the Zionist dystopia with the voice of Abdel Halim. There was such beautiful cognitive dissonance that it was overwhelming . First all the systematic hate from the Israelis. All the propaganda. All the violence.
And the all the crap tinny pop in Egypt that wouldn't hold a candle to Abdel Halim and over so many years. The original of Zeinab libsit is a banal Lebanese song that you might hear speeding from Tripoli to Beirut in a shared taxi. It's too fast, the musical arrangements are crap and Assaf turned it into a classic. By the time he got into his stride he was even bigger than Nancy and the old Lebanesev guy. He took the older guy's song to a place nobody else could. Like Umm K. Or Abdel Halim. And to have a figure like that in the culture is something very special

The human spirit can be amazing sometimes.

    • You don't appear to have a makey uppy name such as Ehud and the Hebrew for strawberry.
4 of the people I most admire on the Jewish side of this clusterfuck are Finkelstein, Amira Hass , Gurvitz and Gideon Levy. I have read or watched 3 of them of them about their parents and the values their parents taught them.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7tupJRSi7M

And they don't have makey uppy names either. And I think that is something. Because when the name is changed something vital relating to the identity is lost. Malcolm X was very good on the importance of names.

There is never a possibility of tabula rasa. Not with the way our brains work.
Zionism is a wild goose chase.

    • Hasbara culture forced Jurge Goldstone into a brutal retraction in 2011 . Goldstone was investigating the 2008 turkey shoot in Gaza. Israel would only tolerate a chosen person. so Goldstone was the man.

"I felt there was a lot of thirst for blood," one soldier is quoted as saying. "This is the beauty of Gaza. You see a person walking down a street or path; he does not have to be with a weapon. You just have to see him with something, and you shoot him."

And the story had everything . It had Jeffrey Goldberg accusing Goldstone of blood libel. Blood libel is from the old shtetl days when the Christians would accuse the Jews , most unfairly, of child murder.

Chris Hedges saw war in many places but the only place he saw soldiers lure children out of their homes via loudspeaker and shot for fun was Gaza.
      https://no2wars.wordpress.com/a-gaza-diary-chris-hedges/

During the 2nd Intifada in 2000, the UN Commission on Human Rights fact finders reported “widespread, systematic and gross violations of human rights perpetrated by the Israeli occupying Power, in particular mass killings and collective punishments, such as demolition of houses and closure of the Palestinian territories, measures which constitute war crimes, flagrant violations of international humanitarian law and crimes against humanity.” See E/CN.4/RES/S-5/1 19 October 2000

But we can't say it to the goys. So let's get the blood libel out. It's to do with the nonsense aspect of power. Better to just not say it.
Gaza is basically a permanent blood libel.

Goldstone became a pariah in South Africa once the report outlines were known. He was shunned by the Jewish community.
      forward.com/news/136818/did-a-private-meeting-prompt-goldstone-to-change-h

He eventually broke and issued a retraction

"Netanyahu called on the United Nations on Saturday to retract the Goldstone Report following the regret expressed by former jurist Richard Goldstone regarding the damning report on alleged Israeli war crimes during the Gaza war.
"Everything that we said proved to be true," said Netanyahu. "Israel did not intentionally target civilians and it has proper investigatory bodies"

One of the most insightful insights into the hasbara mind came via Rabbi Donniel Hartman,. This was the money shot :

      https://hartman.org.il/Blogs_View.asp?Article_Id=657&Cat_Id=273&Cat_Type=
"When one calls, however, for the boycotting or international sanctioning of Israel or the forcing of its government to adopt policies which are counter to the expressed will of its democratically elected government, even if one believes that one is doing so for the good of Israel, one is locating oneself on the side of our foes, a side that friends need to be wary of.
If our community will be wise enough to expand the inner tent to make room for a wide spectrum of opinions, debate, criticism, and acts of protest and condemnation, there will be no need for members of our community to find their allies elsewhere, and ones who do so, will be therefore declaring where their allegiance truly lies.
We are a people who believe that criticism is an act of love and loyalty. We are also a people who believe that there is a criticism out of love, and a criticism which is not."

It was essentially an appeal for self regulation. "We will deal with the butchers"
      But of course they can't.

The butchery went into overdrive in 2014 in Gaza. Always Gaza. Because Yossi Israel hates Gaza more than he will ever know. And self regulation didn't work.

Central to Israel’s defence of its actions in Gaza in 2014
was the claim that international humanitarian law (IHR) was inadequate and had to be modified to accommodate the “asymmetrical”nature of modern warfare...

Self regulation does not work for Israel
I can't remember how many kids were murdered in 2014 but it was several hundred.

The NYT produced a graphic of the damage caused by Israel

Haaretz produced an interview with an Orthodox historian about WW2 recently

      http://www.haaretz.com/jewish/features/.premium-1.750150
And after all, the rabbis intoned, from the Haredi perspective the Holocaust was nothing new in Jewish history; the term “Shoah,” denoting uniqueness, was forbidden by Haredi giants in the late 20th century. The establishment could not bear to face the reality: The fact that far too many of Europe’s Orthodox rabbis railed against the prewar migrations to the United States and Palestine, centers of sin and secularism, the very safe havens that hundreds of thousands could have escaped to – had their leaders not forbidden it.
It was out of the question to admit that great Torah scholars could be wrong – not to mention the stories of rebbes who fled at the last moment, leaving their communities behind, a phenomenon Farbstein (herself a descendant of a Hasidic Rebbe who fled to Palestine in 1940) says is to be expected, given the rabbis’ public positions rendered them high-profile targets.
The facts were deemed too dangerous for the people. Instead, Holocaust study remained in sermon-worthy parables, in video montages of old photographs of Hasidic rebbes and their students, paired with crooning ultra-Orthodox pop stars’ voices.
“We have stories without sources that became myths, which turn into a great symbol for the community in spiritual martyrdom. But there is enough strength in the truth itself, in the reality, [that] we don’t need to dress it more. Here, history is not so much about scientific research, but rather about moral education,” Farbstein says.
According to scholars, over half of the Holocaust’s Jewish victims were observant Jews. “But in the museums, in the history books, there was no room for the Orthodox,” Lichtenstein says. “If the story was not about physical resistance, it was ignored in Israel. I remember, as a young girl, I came with my father to Yad Vashem,” referring to the Holocaust remembrance center in Jerusalem.
“He was searching for some documents, whose content I couldn’t understand at the time. But I do remember how my intellectual father was treated, just because he looked like a Hasidic Jew. They looked at him like, ‘Who are you? A man of a vanished world.’ I never forgot it.

“For decades,” she continues, “secular scholars spoke about the ‘Yom Hashoah v’HaGevurah’ - the physical heroism, the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This implicitly has its own accusations against the victims, that those who didn’t resist went like ‘sheep to the slaughter’ ... they totally ignored spiritual heroism"

As Yosef Hayim Yerushalmi writes in Zakhor,” she concludes, “history has become the center of Jewish identity. We used to have Torah, texts, principles, leaders, all day immersed in our cultural world. But now,” she signs, “we simply turn to history for identity.”

So the Germans went through years of questioning
The Ashkenazi community threw its energy into the Israel project.

Germany doesn't have the war parasite any more.
      Israel does.
And Israel still has the trauma iterations real bad.

      But that was October.

      And then Trump was elected.

      What a clusterfuck

Because now is really not the time to have young Yossi Israeli showing how much further Israeli society has deteriorated since 2014.

    • Jewish power in the US is in serious trouble. The bromides that worked for the last 70 years are dead. The last time Netanyahu spoke at the heart of power he was able to go through all the memes

year after year decade after decade
No matter on which side of the aisle you sit you stand with Israel
I know that America stands with Israel
The enemy of your enemy is your enemy
the days when the Jewish people stayed passive in the face of genocidal enemies is over
God bless the United States of America

He was able to say that knowing that all of the major Jewish orgs would back him.

Charisma is one of the only known antidotes to embedded court power . When Mohamed Assaf sings "Isim Lubnaan" at 1.22 he has the audience eating out his hand. And he isn't even Lebanese.

That's the positive side of charisma , the yin.
      Trump embodies the yang.
And he gained power by unleashing the dogs of antisemitism.

The Liberal Jews are sidelined. Poor David Remnick. He even wrote that piece in favour of the Iraq war and now they don't need him.

For the first time in maybe 70 years the ADL is on a different side to the ZOA. Because the ADL understands Bannon and what he stands for.

The enemy of Judaism is your enemy
the days when the Jewish people stayed passive in the face of genocidal enemies is over

      The ZOA doesn't.

  • Dershowitz backs down, concedes Bannon's 'anti-Muslim, anti-women' bigotry disqualifies him for high office
    • Dershowitz is so full of shit
" because bigotry against any group should be disqualifying for high office, I cannot support his appointment."

      bigotry against Palestinians is FINE

    • All the bots are floundering. Any white Nazi who goes after the people who fund Netanyahu's Jewish Cossack theme park is an enemy.

Same goes for the Orthodox in Israel. The Reform and Conservative pussies are on their side. But they don't understand economics

And it doesn't matter whether or not Bannon actually is on record as a Jew hater. The hounds have been unleashed
      https://twitter.com/StephLauren/status/799113486878052353

  • In standing up for Bannon, Dershowitz is true to his Orthodox Brooklyn roots
    • "This is not to compare Breitbart with Haaretz, but it is to suggest caution in holding a publication responsible for all the views expressed by its writers. To be sure, Haaretz’s general orientation tends to be center left, whereas Breitbart is hard right, but both serve as platforms for extremes on either side. The same can be said of J Street, which is a center left organization which serves as a platform for, and includes among its active members and contributors, BDS supporters, anti-Zionists and opponents of Israel’s existence as the Nation State of the Jewish people. Or consider Black Lives Matter, an organization with a commendable goal, that has promoted anti-Semitism by singling out one country for condemnation in its “platform”: calling the Nation State of the Jewish People an “apartheid” and “genocidal” regime"

    • If it is a war it won't be because of Trump.
It will be because there are 2 different cultures.

One believes in thinking and the other expects autocrats to deliver Moshiach. Because it is autocratic.

One lives in the real world and the other is mystical
One educates its kids and the other doesn't.
One respects women. The other doesn't.

Guess how many shatnez inspectors voted Trump.

Over in Judistan the deputy PM says Israel doesn't need reform and Conservative Jews.

Roger Cohen spoke at a Ha'aretz confab recently. He understand how Israel works.

He namechecked Hass and Levy as per the Dersh but very differently

The thinkers provide political and financial cover for the mysticals to engage their fantasies.
Such as no women at the Kotel.
Someone in Ha'aretz said "it belongs to all Jews"
Actually it belongs to the palestinians but never mind,

If the thinkers are exiled there won't be any money.
And you can't eat Torah scrolls.

  • 'Welcome to the bi-national state': Livni says Knesset bill to legalize settlement outposts sets stage for annexing West Bank
    • http://www.haaretz.com/opinion/.premium-1.754252
Early on Wednesday, eight armored military vehicles invaded Rukab Street in Ramallah. Israeli soldiers burst into the offices of the Health, Development, Information and Policy Institute, a non-governmental organization that advocates better government policies toward the under-regarded, such as women, young people and the disabled. The soldiers blew open the doors and confiscated videos, memory cards from security cameras, computer hard drives and a variety of documents. They also destroyed computer equipment, smashed windows and punched holes in walls. Two young people who protested the incursion were shot and wounded.

    • I believe chuzpah is the Yiddish word for hypocrisy
Livni played her part in building the Golem

      • Here is Livni on the settlers in "Ariel" who have to go if there is ever going to be a Palestinian state.
"Livni: My problem is that of security. Some said to me that there would be violence among my people if I evacuated them, but the pressure will be less if I give the right to choose. I cannot bear the responsibility of their life in case they are exposed to danger and then the army will have to interfere. "
And here Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni insists on annexing the settlement of Ariel – which lies some 15 miles to the east of the Israeli border, deep in the West Bank: Livni: "The idea behind our desire to annex Ariel settlement was not to get more water but because thousands of people live there. We want to have an answer for those who have lived there for forty years."
Those people are going nowhere. As always planned.
      Elsewhere :
      http://blogs.aljazeera.net/middle-east/2011/01/27/erekat-finally-hits-mark#
"Livni is recorded confirming what Palestinians have always accused Israeli governments of doing: creating facts on the ground to prevent the possibility of a viable Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza."
When Mr Erekat asked Ms Livni: “Short of your jet fighters in my sky and your army on my territory, can I choose where I secure external defence?”. She replied: “No. In order to create your state you have to agree in advance with Israel – you have to choose not to have the right of choice afterwards. These are the basic pillars.”
“Israel takes more land [so] that the Palestinian state will be impossible . . . the Israel policy is to take more and more land day after day and that at the end of the day we’ll say that is impossible, we already have the land and we cannot create the state”. She conceded that it had been “the policy of the government for a really long time”.
Another choice comment from Livni, this one from a Nov. 13, 2007 meeting, where she and Abu Ala (Qurei) were discussing what should be included in the “terms of reference” for the upcoming Annapolis meeting (the eighth meeting on this question):
      AA: International law?
Livni : NO. I was the Minister of Justice. I am a lawyer…But I am against law — international law in particular. Law in general. If we want to make the agreement smaller, can we just drop some of these issues? Like international law, this will make the agreements easier.

      http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/features/former-dutch-pm-tells-haaretz-european-leaders-can-t-trust-netanyahu-1.347806

In a letter she appended to the article, Livni explained to me that the role of the leaders of the free world, and especially in Israel, is to harness the world to the future shaping of the region in accordance with those interests shared by Israel and the free world.
Livni claims her initiative "correctly translates the values of democracy in a way that will be acceptable to all the pragmatic and moderate elements in our region."
She proposes banning all parties that uphold violence and/or racism and/or do not respect international agreements.

  • Donald Trump is ready to bring Islamophobia into the White House
    • They took the wrong road around

    • Bannon is complex. He is like Shiva the destroyer. He hates liberals. He hates PC. He thinks women should be at home and have babies. As part of his crusade he wants to destroy the liberal agenda. That means taking down ethnic minorities, LGBT, religious minorities and women.

Some of the stuff his people sent Jewish journos during the election campaign was vile.
This is big picture politics. It's population blocs. It's Manichean. It's like a contininuation of WW2 after Ilya Ehrenburg rolled into Berlin with the Red Army.
WW2 was about 2 different economic views of the world. The Nazis wanted to do Something different and declared Jews and Bolsheviks as the enemy. The liberals and Bolsheviks won. Germany became liberal.

Bannon's crusade is incoherent. Taking down Liberal America means taking down the economic capacity that keeps Israeli nihilism going. Because Israel is a satrapy. It was never independent.

Bannon likes Netanyahu because they are both Cossacks. But Netanyyahu's world is funded by Mensches. And Bannon hates Mensches . Because Mensches are Liberal. And it is Manichean. In his head. So he is a Nazi.

    • Something amazing is happening in the ADL

Jonathan Greenblatt has promised to register as a Muslim if Trump starts a register
      https://twitter.com/samsteinhp/status/799388139181789185

I think Trump is going to change how the ADL sees the Palestinian situation.

  • Neoconservatives warm up to Trump (maybe they have an agenda)
  • After years of careless accusation, Dershowitz says anti-Semitism charges must be 'very careful'
    • Bannon is an opportunist and destroyer . He wants power. Anything to get power.
AIPAC shouldn't go near him. But the DNA of AIPAC is a**licking

    • I think the last week is a vindication for Phil Weiss.

All the official Jews like the Dersh and Goldberg and Rosner etc who have been preaching might is right for years got a wake up call. If you play might is right you are vulnerable to a bigger thug from the right running the same logic. .

What is going on in the US economy amounts to the pauperisation of the working class. At some stage there had to be a backlash. And now it has arrived. People like Bannon can chip away at the "unbreakable bond" between Israel and the US because Israel does nothing for ordinary americans . There is no loyalty . There is just money.

Everything that the thug Jews of Aipac and the ZOA take for granted is now in question.

It is always better to listen to Hillel.

    • Dersh and friends destroyed Finkelstein's career because he spoke the truth.
Now there is a wolf in DC

      The ADL ran the numbers
      https://www.yahoo.com/katiecouric/2016-the-choice-hate-speech-intensifies-since-trump-won-the-election-180840470.html
      12 months
      2.6 million antisemitic messages
      10 BILLION impressions
      Only 1600 accounts involved

Mr Bannon is Julius Streicher 2.0 in maybe 1938

The DNA of AIPAC and the ZOA is power.
They have to side with Trump. It is not rational. But they have to.

The dynamics get very interesting. Trumpism is obviously a coup. It is incoherent.
This might well be the end for the Dersh.

He is no better than Rumkowski.

    • The Parsis do it as well, Rosross. It's a minority religion thing to maintain the group over the longue duree. You have to have a tight definition that doesn't get diluted. The priests maintain the code. It gives them work. It is quite sophisticated. The Alawis in Syria would be similar.

The comparison with the Hindus is off because Hinduism is a supermarket religion. If in the future Hinduism was suppressed by a new religion based on the worship of Kim Kardashian and Hindus were systematically persecuted and expelled from Instagram you would expect to see some of the memes of Judaism popping up.

Parsi are very strict on intermarriage. The spawn of such unions are not Parsi. We used to have a driver in Bombay whose mother was Parsi and whose father was Hindu. He knew all the rituals but was not a member of the club.

Now the Parsi population is dwindling.

    • Deuteronomy 7.3 was written during a period of trauma when Jewish women were systematically raped by some conquering people. Was it the Egyptians or the Persians ?
Rape is used to control and demean and some times wipe out when applied group wide. The Dalits in India were subject to rape over centuries as a way of reminding them who was in charge.

Anatolian history is fascinating with all the dead languages and all the cultures that fell by the wayside. Lydians, Hittites, Byzantines etc. One way for historians to decipher ancient texts of cultures that hit the wall is to link them to cultures that are still around. Eg Lydian might be accessed via Assyrian merchant notes.

2 ancient cultures that are still around are Judaism and whatever you call the Assyrian/Nineveh plains culture. With really old religious code that precedes the 2 big supermarket religions of Islam and Christianity .

The persistence of Jewish culture is amazing but it means there is a lot of old mumbo jumbo in the religion that was needed in the past for specific reasons, a bit like those furry hats the Lithuanians wear in Jerusalem. I am sure they were trendy in the forests in old Poland back in the day.

There was a very good reason for Deuteronomy 7.3 at the time.
But it got lost over the centuries. About 450 years after Deuteronomy was written a rabbi in Alexandria wrote the following :

"There have now been several Jewish Harvard law school deans, and many Jewish Ivy presidents. Four of the last five Democratic nominees to the Supreme Court have been Jewish and several leading media corporations are led by Jews, not to mention, as Beinart says, our role among the chattering classes: “Jews edit The New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, The Weekly Standard, The Atlantic, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, Vox, Buzzfeed, Politico, and the opinion pages of The New York Times and Washington Post.”

So the rape thing wasn't so important, ya'ni. Pass me the blinis, Rebecca.

And the uber question in Judaism is of course always whether to focus on the code or reality. And it's a big decison in a town called malice.

    • Judaism has gone though periods when conversion was kosher and periods when the tribe is basically hermetically sealed. They couldn't have Judaised the Ashkenazim without being open at some stage.

Trump is EXACTLY the same as Sisi. The people got to say "Fuck You" and will now be asked to bend over and take several for the 1%.

Trump's tax cut. 50% will go to the richest. They will see cuts in tax of 14%. Wallahi al atheem.
Bluecollar American Fellaheen in their make America great again jallabiyehs will get a tax benefit of 0.8%. Welcome to St Trumpez

    • Sisi is bullshit. The Egyptian pound was just devalued by 47%. Egypt cannot feed its own people. The economy is a basket case. The rich in Zamalek love a soldier to keep control over the fellaheen and the working class but the economy can't support their pillage any longer. Egypt will blow up again . The Israeli embassy will be stormed again.

All the chatter about the end of the liberal age is BS . Conservatives have nothing to offer other than fascism.

    • "I think given the chance any human beings of whatever color or religion would behave as white Americans did in this election. "

Vote for your own dispossession? Really?
This coup is 100% fantasy. It's pretty obvious that Trump is a con. The economic story may hang together as far as March. But not longer. there won't be any payrises. there might be a half a million new jobs.
Trümp is a loose cannon. He doesn't do detail. That is fine on TV or in serial marrying women with big t#ts but not in the world of managing countries. The market sees through bullshit pretty quickly. the Trump coalition is fantasy based. Bannon will not be able to design bots to convince the market. The multiplier on antisemitism is pretty close to zero. The whole campaign was a big joke
There will be healthcare increases and tax cuts for the ultra rich. The chronic systemic problems of the US will intensify.
Deregulating finance will bring on the Gotterdammerung of Monetarism.
It will be hard to keep the bullshit going.

The US isn't even 250 years old and still believes that a well regulated militia can protect the Constitution from its predators. And it obviously cannot.

  • Trump may kill Netanyahu with kindness
  • A most mournful gathering
    • The US is a pretty young country. The Constitution is worshipped but it is mortal. They also worship the flag.

And the second amendment. Because in 1770 a well regulated milita would do the job. But it didn't stop Trump, did it? Guns are useless against psy ops. So checks and balances are a thin reed against which to lean.

Arguably the Constitition had 2 historic existential challenges. The Civil war and Civil rights about a century later. Both were resolved but unsatisfactorily. The same evangelical rednecks voted for an autocrat this time around. Civilisation is a thin veneer as well.

This is the third existential challenge. We just don't know how it will play out.

There is no gap between Israel and the US yada yada but Israel has to stay out of this. This is fundamental stuff. How to regulate relations between the rednecks/evangelicals and the others 3.0. Israel is a luxury.

But we’re seeing anti-Semitism mainstreamed in a way it’s never been before, and it is emerging out of the American and global right. Groups like the ADL — which depend on institutional connections and political access as their lifeblood — showed immense bravery in standing up to the soon-to-be president when others wouldn’t. They’ll need more courage still as bigotry and hatred penetrate the mainstream, forcing them to confront brokers of power who — unlike the Obama administration or the Democratic establishment — have not demonstrated themselves willing to listen to Jewish challenges without recrimination or reprisal. And it will take yet more bravery to finally cut loose those Jewish organizations who prioritize extreme political ideologies over basic principles of Jewish — and human — equality.

      7. The Mossad will kill Hezb people. Have they the balls to take out US Nazis?
8 Hezb and Hamas are decent compared to the Breitbart crowd
      9 What a clusterf#ck

  • Where do we go from here? Our thoughts & yours on the US election
    • The richest 1% of Americans own 50% of everything.
They earn 18% of all income .
And between 1975 and 2007 they captured 58% of all income gains in the US. It must be higher now. Let's say it's 65%.
Basically via debt. So their share of income continues to increase at the expense of the schmucks who voted for Trump.

So if Trump wants to get interest rates up ordinary people need to get a bigger share of income. Because if they don't revenues can't grow.

But Trump's tax cuts will go 50% to the richest 0.1%
So bluecollar voters will not see any improvement in their circumstances.
And without any improvement on Main St the economy cannot grow.
      So it will crash

It doesn't matter what the WSJ or Wall St think. The system is doomed.

    • The ADL has already left the Zionist fold over Bannon.

The official Jewish model is broken. AIPAC and the ZOA are forced to support Trump because Trump is the Tsar. And the Tsar was put in power with the aid of Cossacks. So AIPAC must work with the Cossacks.

Bannon wants zero Jews in the US which is why he loves Israel. Get them out of the jurisdiction . If there are zero Jews in the US there won't be any $3bn for the IDF. there won't be any F22s or whatever they are called now. There won't be any standing ovations in Congress. Someone should tell Bennett. Someone should tell Netanyahu.

    • you forgot Gaza

      It's 52:48 now

Israel is in very dangerous territory.
Bannon may be pro YESHA and on the same page as Bennett but Trump is only the first iteration of US fascism. When he fails what will replace it? Probably even more intense antisemitism. The Young Turks had a very interesting discussion on the phenomenon. The focus is always on Jewish bankers. Not white bankers like Dimon. Who are just as venal.

    • Mossad has taken out people like Imad Mughniyeh and Abu Nidal in the past. But the Palestinians and the Lebanese are not enemies of the Jews. There were no Palestinians in Auschwitz.

Nazis are the enemy. Always have been.

Will Mossad take out Bannon ? Or is all the martial stuff just for colonial policing ?

    • The US economy is on the verge of collapse. Trump is about securing as much cash for his rich special interest buddies as possible before it goes tits up.

Every single world of his last campaign ad was a lie.

The crisis demands an alliance of women, LGBT, Bluecollar, Middle classes, Muslims, Latinos, Liberal Jews, anyone who believes in climate change, anyone who wants a pension. The ADL will be in the trenches with Hamas. It is a funny old world.

Trump is headed to Auschwitz 2.0

The Dersh is very wrong. Trumpism is nihilism and it will do to people like him what the Nazis did to its Jewish loyalists.
Rumkowski was beaten to death in Auschwitz after handing over the Jewish kids of Lodz to the fascists. Cos power works like that.

    • Mooser

    • It's not progress. He is intent on bringing fascism to the US. No decent conservative would travel with the likes of Bannon. Which is worse? Cancer or a feminist daughter?
For the first time in my life I feel sorry for Jeffrey Goldberg.

the endgame will be an alliance of liberal Jews and Palestinians to defeat the settlers, the Likud and the Nazis

  • Challenging anti-Semitism and the Trump presidency
    • The ADL is running a conference on pre Trump BS antisemitism

while tweeting like a demon about the real thing because the Wolf is at the door and has been appointed Strategy Chief

    • Trump is Caligula 2.0

The very first pogrom started during Caligula's reign

Trump plays off Liberal Jews and Cossack Jews and they are powerless to stop the manipulation.
Bannon is going to the ZOA dinner
The ADL and AIPAC are now on different sides. Ma sha Allah

Riots again erupted in Alexandria in AD 40 between Jews and Greeks.[93] Jews were accused of not honoring the emperor.[93] Disputes occurred in the city of Jamnia.[94] Jews were angered by the erection of a clay altar and destroyed it.[94] In response, Caligula ordered the erection of a statue of himself in the Jewish Temple of Jerusalem,[95] a demand in conflict with Jewish monotheism.[96] In this context, Philo wrote that Caligula "regarded the Jews with most especial suspicion, as if they were the only persons who cherished wishes opposed to his".[

  • Elor Azarya, King of Israel
    • Israelis are educated to see Palestinians as vermin so 82% support for a soldier who executed someone in cold blood is not surprising,. It is ¨similar to Israeli Jewish levels of support for Protective Edge.
Israeli society is on a very different path to the rest of the OECD.
