  • Palm Sunday protest in Bethlehem--and only the Palestinians are still detained
    • Definitely. When I was living in Bethlehem I could sense a great underlying tension between some Christian and Muslim Palestinians. I talked to a few people about this and they would talk of how when they were children there was really no perceived difference. They were all friends. During and after the Intifadas, Israel increasingly played the two communities against each other by using different policies that were favorable to one side or another.

That said there is still a great coalition coming together to resist the occupation. It is full spectrum. You saw it in the video. Palestinian Christians walked with Palestinian Muslims, Palestinian Muslims walked with Israeli Jews etc.

Also, the two friends that I mention in my piece who were detained, Marwan and Ahmad are Muslims. The fact that they work with a Christian organization shows the commitment that they and many others have in bringing about an end to the occupation.

    • Right you are potsherd. I'm also hearing right now that Israel has been turning tourist busses away from Bethlehem. Obviously a great part of their economy is based on tourism, and the season is obviously in high gear right now. Collective Punishment to say the least.
