Obama has joined two other presidents, Lyndon Johnson and George W. Bush in giving immunity to Israelis who kill US citizens, so stopping a settlement is out of the question for him. The only way that Palestine can be recognized as a state is to go before the entire UN and have the entire body vote on statehood. The three members of the quartet, England, France and the US have basically spit on the graves of the soldiers who died in WWII protecting those who were occupied by a military force. In today's world the "French Freedom fighters" would be considered terrorists,and Cameron would not call his people to action. Sarkozy and Cameron can't decide whether occupation is good or bad, so they obstain. They would have been called "Quislings" rather than leaders, during WWII. Obama has already given up his moral values in exchange for the Jewish vote and IPAC funding. The Palestinians need to realize that "the quartet" just like the US will never be an honest broker. Sarkozy and Cameron will look to Obama for direction, and after the last UN speech Obama gave, he's happy to shine his Badge of Honor given to him by BeBe. Those in the quartet have forgotten the soldiers who gave their lives to stop the Third Reich, and by their actions they dishonor those who fought to liberate those living under a hostile occupation. History is repeating itself in this conflict, but there is no Churchill, no Roosevelt, no leadership from the West. No Obama will not stop the settlements, who knows, he may even have one named after him.
Evidently Obama has become the new "Cheyney" as a war monger. Hopefully someone will ask Obama to show proof of Iran's nuclear weapons, or perhaps Hillary can answer that one. Does Obama really believe the people in the US want him to start another war? we heard his UN speech, where he got his badge of honor from Netanyahu, but going into another war to appease Israel is really pushing it. Hopefully the Brits are also tired of a government that will follow the US into another hellish war. Has anyone wondered what the nuclear fallout will be like if the US, Israel , and Britain bomb all their nuclear facilities? Would the President, Netanyahu, and the British Prime Minister be held as war criminals if no nukes are found in Iran, just so many dead civilians? I hope a reporter will ask these questions either at a White House briefing or ask the State department. We are going down the same road as we did in Iraq, only this time our soldiers in Afghanistan may be fighting Iranians as well.
How small the US looks in the eyes of the world as well as many of its own citizens in regard to the Palestinians. I sincerely hope that the Palestinians continue to become members of the various other agencies associated with the UN, which would include the World Court. Evidently, Obama wasn't satisfied with his "Badge of Honor" from Netanyahu after his UN speech where he forgot to mention how many Palestinians had been killed by Israelis, how many years the Palestinians have been under the occupation of Israel, etc. With the defunding of UNESCO, maybe he'll get an illegal settlement named after him.
Obama should have worn his Israeli Badge of Honorand his star of David pin in the Security Council meeting. He is trying desperately to become the first "Jewish President of the US. his talking points will be: 1. Veto the Palestinians Application for Statehood. He must obey Netanyahu. 2. Support keeping Palestinians "on a diet" as Netanyahu likes to say, and Obama wants the chocolate and cokes to be recalled since the Palestinians had the audacity to go to the UN. 3. Allow aid ships to be attacked at will, even if US citizens may be executed on board by the Israeli soldiers.
4. He is aware that the Veto may jeopardize American soldiers in the Middle East, by turning the Arab street against all Americans, but in return he will get the Jewish vote and APAC funding. 5. He wants the world to know that occupation of another's land is not wrong. In fact, using the Israeli's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, Obama wants the US history books to be rewritten, so that any country or people who fought against being occupied and for freedom and diginity in WWII will now be labeled "terrorists". That will make it legitimate for the Israelis to occupy whatever countries they want.
6. He will forbid his children from playing the song "Ain't no place for a hero" in the White House. If asked he will tell them that honor and integrity can be bought and sold, and that they are highly overated. 6. He will show Americans that he really isn't a Muslim by trying his best to keep them down, and who will criticize him for being the First Jewish President wannabe of the United States of America.
I don't think President Obama is a bad man, merely a weak man, the type who BiBi was referring to when he said that "America can be so easily moved." Obama made a point of involving Egypt (who along with Israel has kept up the blockade on Gaza), as well as Jordon, who can be easily blackmailed thru taking away, its foreign aide, and yet no one there represents the people of Gaza. Obama learned to play the game quickly after his speech in Cairo, he sent his Cabinet out to meet with the various Jewish groups to let them know he was only kidding. He spoke about the killing of the settlers, but wouldn't utter a word about Furkar Dogan, or any other murders committed by Israeli soldiers. For a fine/donation from Blackwater, they got off scott free, but then again, it seems alright to kill Arabs with impunity. The Arab world knows it cannot believe anything he promises. He, like Bush, would never be a fair broker. Like my mother once said, "Don't listen to the words, because words can be lies, watch the actions, and his actions have shown Obama has once again, through his fidelity and devotion to BiBi, made America the slave of Israel. His forefathers must be so disappointed, just like those of us who voted for him.
I would like to see a Russian missle defense site erected on Iranian soil. I wish both China and Russia would send a message to both Israel and the US letting them know a strike would not be permitted without retaliation. I wonder how many wars does the US feel it needs to be a part of before our people say enough. We will be leaving two failed states in our wake in Iraq and Afghanistan. I think both Israel as well as the Muslim world have sized up Obama and came to the same conclusion that he's just a wuss. Israel certainly isn't afraid of him. For those who want the war with Iran, let them go and fight and die. Our soldiers have done enough. Obama has already invited Israel into the planning for a stike on Iran. So who is wagging this dog's tail? I don't think Obama will find others to go along with him this time. It reeks of the same WMD's that Iraq was suppose to have. He needs to remember what happened to Russia with its defense spending. Our country can suffer the same fate. We can very well go broke if we continue to follow Israel's lead.
As Krauthammer was writing, Israelis were bulldozing a Palestinian cemetary to make way for the building of the Museum for Tolerance, no less. Guess that wasn't part of the hollowed ground he was referring to in the article. Just like I'm sure Obama couldn't care less, a great example of our tax dollars at work. Just think, when we nowuse the term "terrorists," we can include those who fought in our War of Independence, as well as the French Resistance, and any underground movement we could name. So in fact, we are the offspring of terrorists. Add that to the average number of murders (16,000 Americans killed by other Americans in the US), we are really good at killing, whether its for religious purposes, political (like in Oklahoma) or just for the fun of it. If you project the numbers out, we would not rebuild the Greek orthodox church near ground zero, and we would destroy the Catholic church across the street. And we have been able to demonize Muslims to the point where they are not Arab Americans, with the same rights as others, but are really lmore like second class citizens. We no longer can identify with those who hold religious views over those whose actions are political. When we fight in the Middle East are we crusaders with God on our side? And we minimize Muslim deaths by objectifying them, they are not men, women and children, but merely collateral damage. And Obama was quick to backtrack and clarify it was merely the law to allow the mosque to be built, he was not saying anything about his support or lack of, where it was being built. Bush Lite is more content knowing Gitmo is alive and well, and a fifteen year-old can confess under the duress of being told he would be raped and sexually abused, and our government lets that stand, so perhaps we can let the good times roll like in Abu Grabib. So the definition of a terrorist, is someone who takes part in terrorists acts. Do the loved ones mourn less those murdered in our cities, or on the high seas, then those who lost loved ones in the twin towers? Doesn't our undying support for those who murder a mother of five running after her two-year old, or a grandmother with three children all shot dead, identify us as being responsible also. Israel is passing measures to limit their Supreme Court, deny the right to dissent, and add to the power of Netanyahu. (Sounds like we've heard this before.) We don't have to question Obama's birth records, rather is he willing to play the role of Mussolini to the Fuhrer of the 4th Reich.
China and Russia will benefit from our hubris. Both Obama and Congress are looking really stupid to the rest of the world, now that the Turkish President and now Lebanon couldn't care less what the US does. They already know the US will back Israel, so the Arab countries need to start looking elsewhere. The only problem Obama faces besides his huge credibilty problem with the Muslim world, is he still has soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq, and will continue to have them for a long time. So, if Israel attacks Lebanon, it will be seen as a joint venture with the US, putting our soldiers in one hell of a shooting gallery. If that happens, all the kissing up to BiBi won't save him. Also, he and BiBi have made sure the investigation into the flotilla will be a sham.
The tag team of Israel and the US is alive and well. Obama has invited Israel to help plan the attack on Iran, and Israel is again threatening to destroy Beirut, and all of its citizens. Obama doesn't want to appear to be Bush Lite so he's willing to start another war to prove how tough he is. And I'm sure he has read the polls that show that Muslims no longer believe anything he says and know that his Cairo speech was a joke. The UN, under the guidance of the US will blame Hezbollah in their report coming out today. Guess they were too busy to write one up when Mossad kidnapped and killed al Mubhouh, or when the CIA kidnapped Khalid El Masri. I wonder when Americans will wake up and stop this insanity. Again, there will be no WMDs to show for the lives of both American soldiers and Iranians, no nukes, but just in case, American leaders really like the pre-emptive strike, even without facts or justification. Obama has shown he couldn't care less about the Arab world, even to the point of looking small when Turkey's President let the world know he cared about the murder of his citizens, while Obama didn't make a sound about Furkan Dogan. He makes a great lackey for Israel. So the plan appears to be the US will bomb Iran, and Israel will destroy Beirut. And the beat goes on.
I wouldn't be surprised if BiBi told Obama, and got assurances, that the US would continue with the Negroponte Doctrine. Remember, all we saw were the flotilla members weilding sticks at the commandos. No US press would show the Brazillian reporters footage. And it was the Turkish President that made Obama seem like a wimp, when he stood up for his citizens, while there wasn't a peep from Obama. Now BiBi is going to pull out of the UN inquiry, if the UN questions the commandos involved. Big surprise there. Then they should go with the information provided by the survivors of the Mavi Marmara, and what the bullet holes on the ship tell them. I also wonder how the UN is going to find Hezbollah at fault for killing the Lebanese Prime Minister. Hezbollah is providing evidence that Israel had the capability, since they have assassinated others on foreign soil. Let's see if the UN is owne by Israel as our Administration and Congress are.
Israel is on the planning board for the attack on Iran. Obama brought them onboard. At least Iran is starting to act smart making deals with Russia and China. Although they agreed to the UN sanctions, they will not agree to the extra stict sanctions by the US and EU. Hopefully, that and the American people's tiredness of war, will keep it from happening. I know Obama wants to please BiBi, but as the death toll rises in Afghanistan, Obama is losing support for the war. But again, there are alot of our Congress persons sitting in plush offices, ready for their marching orders from BiBi.
I think you have to worry about both. Unfortunately, both our Administration and Congress feel that we will have enough disposable youth
for another war. We have the cheerleaders in place, Clinton, Gates, much of Obama's cabinet as well as the majority of Congress, and Obama does appear spineless on the issue of fully supporting Israel no matter what. I really hope the people will remember Iraq, and the lies we were told,and compare them to the same lies we are hearing now. I hate the thoughts of the loss of lives both of our soldiers as well as the Iranian people. I hope sometime people will remember that "collateral damage", no matter how neatly they objectify it, remains men, women, and children. I just don't see anyone in the media willing to raise the most obvious questions. I think, no matter how much the Administration hates WikiLeaks they provided some startling insights into what was really going on, and when Obama, and others said it was just 'OLD NEWS', I guess the amount of deaths hasn't satisfied them yet.
Obama got his orders when BiBi was in town. Aren't we drawing down in Iraq so we can go and bomb Iran? Meanwhile, Israel is ramping up to bomb Lebanon's capital. It has a new Doctrine that if Lebanon or Hezbollah does anything, Israel will go after Lebanon's capital. Guess they need more civilians to kill. Obama has just become Bush Lite. Obama wouldn't dare fire anyone who Israel has put in place in our government. He has shown he just doesn't have the guts to do what is right.
We are currently leaving Iraq as a failed state, and once we leave Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Taliban will own the South, with India will move into the North. Meanwhile, we may attack both Iran and Lebanon in a joint effort, and after destroying their countries, Israel will direct us against India and Pakistan since they are the only ones left in the region that have any nuclear capabilities. We have shown beyond any reasonable doubt that we consider our youth disposable, so what's another decade or two of war. Isn't the plan that he who has the oil wins? We have made the UN ineffectual in the fact that the US can and will stop it from applying International Law to the Israelis. The EU is ramping up its rhetoric trying to squeeze Iran dry. I wonder what ever happened to the America I loved. I know the answer. Obama's mia culpa after saying something about the Israeli settlements, and his failure to even acknowledge the death of a US citizen aboard the flotilla, shows that all he has left to do is plant the posterior kiss in front of the cameras this time, when he meets with BiBi. We have become Israels lackey, and they can sit back and watch as we throw our young men and women into another meatgrinder of war. Our media has happily depicted all Muslims as terrorists, rag heads, sub-human, just look at what Israel is allowed to do to the Palestinians, and what Wikileaks has shown what we are capable of doing to them also. And look at the results of our war efforts, for every Muslim killed, another will remember. And once again we will be shocked when another 9/11 happens, and we'll ask ourselves why.
Ben White wrote a great article. I wish he knew some of the Western leaders that would offer to help. Unfortunately, I doubt if Obama could be counted on since his "unbreakable ties with Israel and AIPAC" keeps him under their control. The Prime Minister of England called GAZA a "prison camp," and is fighting against those in the EU who want to continue to keep Turkey out. The entire Arab world needs to have their leaders demand the UN to enforce International Law, or else they should not only withdraw from the UN but also from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The Arab world have been waiting for decades for the West to do something, and it refuses. Obama has been a great disappointment in this area.
Hopefully, it is more than just words. Obama promised the Muslim world a change, but he only meant he would have the head of NASA thank the Muslim world for giving us Algebra. Perhaps now that the EU has added to the beat of war drums against Iran by following the US lead of imposing more sanctions against the Iranian people, (I wonder when if ever any of the EU Council visited Israel and counted the number of warheads they have), he can convince them to take up the plight of the Palestinians before all their land is gone.

Perhaps Americans should be reminded that since 1949, American has given over $118 billion in taxpayer funds to Israel. Even after the murder of the US citizen (thank heavens he had dual citizenship, and the Turkish President showed he gave a damn about the murder of its citizens by Israelis) Israel will receive it's 3.2 billion this year with increased funding to follow. Also, the Evangelicals are providing additional funding so that Israel can continue to bull-doze homes and villages, while their contributions are tax-exempt. Whenever questioned about the amount of foreign aid we give, all Administrations say "it's a miniscule amount", but I'm sure if Americans know that Israel has a much lower rate of unemployment 6.7% in May, 2010, and we have armed them to the teeth, perhaps Mainstreet would feel we need the "Miniscule amount" more for our unemployed, people who are losing their homes, and our homeless.
Why don't we take the Jews that have been displaced, and put them in New York? We could remove the New Yorkers and put them in New Jersey, and possibly Delaware, I don't think Pennsylvania would be too welcoming, and tell them they had no right to return, and if they wanted to fight for their homes, we would call them terrorists, and sic Homeland Security on them. Just to show we meant business we could ask Caterpillar to destroy a few neighborhoods just for good measure. At least it would be consistent with our Middle East policy. Besides, they might like taking over the apartments of the rich and famous. Then the Evangelicals would be able to send them money using our regular stamps, rather then worrying about airmail.
I wonder if we built a replica of the USS Liberty for the next Memorial Day Parade in Wahington and added a Wall Of Shame, with Lyndon Johnson and Levi Echol's names above the names of the sailors killed and wounded, and George Bush's name and his Israeli counterpart above the name of Rachel Corrie, and Barack Obama's name and BiBi's,above the name of Furkan Dogan, would:
1. The government allow it to be part of the Parade?
2. Would that get any press?
Wasn't Rachel Corrie run over by a bull dozer? Does Caterpillar consider that good use? Coming from the Pocono Mts. in Pennsylvania, Caterpillar was once a respected name. Guess that doesn't matter anymore, especially if the price is right. But then again, Rachel Corrie was a US citizen, and we know that neither Bush or Obama wouldn't say a word about US deaths attributed to Israelis, but Caterpillar would be well served not to have it's equipment used against a Turk. Their President stands tall when it comes to the murder of its citizens, making ours look small and insignificant. But not to worry, maybe Caterpillar will still benefit from the 3.2 billion in financial aid Obama will soon be sending Israel's way. Yes, the boycott needs to gain more support, and hopefully it will. At least it's a start. I would also tie it in to our unemployment which is 9.5 while Israel's is only 6.7, and we've armed them to the teeth, so why are we spending 3.2 billion on them, instead of our citizens in need.
Remember when Israel wanted US involvement in their war against Egypt, they tried to destroy the USS Liberty. If they had been able to sink it, Egypt would be blamed, and the Congress and President would be able to fuel our fire for revenge. Although it didn't work that time, they've learned from that. Right now the War in Afghanistan is going South, so it may be time to change the subject. It didn't matter that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, as long as they were Arabs, which allowed us to go to war with Iraq. Stay tuned, since BiBi saw that Obama didn't even bat an eye over the death of the US citizen aboard the Mavi Marmara,(one good reason to have dual citizenship, at least the Turkish President gave a damn) he knows now how easily he can lead our Government into attack mode. And the US has shown all nations that we consider our youth disposable, by sending them into Iraq and Afghanistan, so if we can just free up a few, we can send them into the next theater of war. So watch the ships, orwait for another homeland attack, even if Iran has no involvement, it worked once before with Bush, and Obama has shown how easily he can be lead around by BiBi, as the drums continue to beat.
There are Palestinians living in Israel now, without the rights of citizenship. A one state solution would only increase the idea that Palestinians are second class citizens, and would encourage both the Israelis and the US government's objective of continuing its control over the Middle East. I agree with the idea that any decision brokered by the US would be detrimental to the Palestinians, and would allow for the unlawful settlements, and destruction of Palestinians homes. Unfortunately, our Government is using our tax dollars to make US citizens complicit in the unlawful acts of the Israeli government. The Arab world needs to look away from Washington to find another broker for peace. Although Obama promised a change to relations with the Arab world, nothing was more telling then Obama meeting with BiBi after a US citizen was killed aboard the flotilla, and smiling and shaking hands with
the Israeli leader, responsible for the death of the nineteen year old. The one state solution would only show that slavery is alive and well, for that would be the fate of the Palestinians, with the blessings of both the Israeli and US governments.
Although I have heard both concepts about trying to sink the Liberty because of the killing of Egyptian POWS and trying to bring the US into the war, I believe at the time most Navy personnel at that time believed the latter theory. My father was in the Navy at the time, and had a friend that was killed on the Liberty. Although our government did everything in its power to bury the incident, word did get out slowly but surely. The sailors that my father knew believed that the only reason so much fire power was used against the Liberty was to sink it, so Egypt would be blamed. It is unfortunate that the US will never acknowledge the heroic efforts of the sailors aboard the Liberty that although badly damaged, kept it afloat, thus foiling Israel's plans. But I also believe that Israel didn't want the world to know how they treated POWs. After the US did absolutely nothing, Israel knew it owned our government.
It is a shame all presidents are required tom read Washington's farewell address. It states that "the nation which indulges toward another a habitual hatred or fondness is in some degree a slave.It is a slave to its animosity or its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and interest.... A passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils. It leads also to jealousy, ill will and a disposition to retaliate in the parties from whom equal privileges are with held." Washington as warns against the insidious wiles of foreign influence that a free nation needs to be aware, and that history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of the republic. He believed in good faith and justice towards all nations, and the cultivation of peace and harmony with all. In reference to the Middle East, only Kennedy wanted to stop Israel from creating a nuclear arsenal, and Fulbright said that "Israel owned the Senate." When Obama told the Muslim world that there would be a change, some thought they would hear the refrain"Somewhere a place for us" for the Palestinians, instead they heard "bend over for BiBi" and the drums of war beating towards Iran. Evidently each Administration feels we have disposable young to send into the meat grinder of war. I would chose to believe that Washington was trying to warn us against the bad choices we have been making for decades.
Unfortunately, the US government has made slaves of all of its citizens by ignoring Washington's address, and instead using our tax dollars to make us complicit in Israel's crimes against the Palestinians and other Muslim countries. We are even giving tax exempt status for the Evangelicals and right wingers to send money directly to Israel which is being used to build new settlements on Palestinian land. Obama doesn't seem to mind being BiBi's slave.
Remember what happened to Helen Thomas? So all reporters felt that shot over their bow when the Gibbs/Obama team said she should apologize. So much for stomping on free speech. Yes, the drums are beating, Obama really bent over for BiBi, and Bill Clinton got press by saying Iran could have suitcase bombs.. just like Cheyney saying Iraq had WMD's. Obama has nothing to worry about, he knows he has lost all credibility with the Muslim world, and besides they don't pay as much as AIPAC. Read the article about the Evangelicals sending tax-exempt money to Israel, and Obama will continue the 3.2 billion no matter that Israel's unemployment is 6.5, while ours is 9.5. We'll put people to work in another war. The only reporter who isn't afraid to tell it like it is , is Dana Milbank.
Thank you Jimmy for the information that you provided, as well as those who wrote the informative comments. I am afraid that the "us vs. them" is coming closer and closer. There will never be Western accountability, I am afraid, because we wouldn't be able to handle it. Our premise has always been "might makes right". Nor will we ever have a President admit to not being an honest broker, even though that has been the case for generations.
I have a nephew who was once 4th in the World in wake boarding. When my father passed away, they had a tournament, and the young men came to my father's funeral out of respect for my nephew Drew. I watched as young men from different cultures, different colors and nationalities, including Jews and Arabs, walked with Drew to my father's casket. As they stood there with there arms across each other's shoulders, I saw a glimpse of what humanity could have been.
Hi Ken, I am well aware that their have been unjustifiable killings on both the Israeli and Palestinians sides, however, you have to agree the death count is a little lopsided. I was referring to the deaths of Americans that our government never bothered to investigate. I am aware that all "Americans killed by the Israeli's" were "accidents" if one believes the news reports we get, as well as what the Israeli government says. You may want to read some accounts of those who were with Rachel when she was run over, just to get another perspective. As for the oil lobby, what exactly are they going to do, with hold oil from us, remember who has the nukes....
It's not just the Israeli lobby Aipac, although they donate millions to the election process, the Jewish people also run most of the TV networks, as well as the major newspapers. Whether or not you agree with what Helen Thomas said, according to our 1st Amendment she had the right to voice her opinion. You didn't see any reporter questioning Gibbs when he said she should apologize, and that came from Obama. Neither did you see any of the press corp come to her defense. Yet, we have the three stooges Limbaugh, Beck and Pat Robertson who make disgusting remarks about the Muslim world on their radio and TV shows, and not a wimper comes from the White House. Can you name any other country that has received 118+ billion dollars from the US in foreign aid gifts? Just listen to the parroting from our members of Congress and our members of the Administration if you don't think the Israeli lobby is powerful. Israel can even kill US citizens with impunity, as in the USS Liberty, Rachel Corrie, and the most recent death of the 19 year old aboard the flotilla. See if you can find any report on an investigation into his death.. I am sure Obama assured BiBi that it was ok during their last meeting.
Obama has just asked the head of NASA to reach out to the Muslim world regarding their technological contributions to space. Now if that's not stretching it a bit, I don't know what is. NASA, no less, who is about to descimate it's workforce wants to talk to the Muslim world about space as if the Muslim world had nothing else on it's mind.. Can you imagine.. at least it provided a good laugh, when the head of NASA said Obama asked if he would make this a priority of his job. I'm sure Obama thinks that should take care of anyone who says he's not reaching out.......
Unfortunately, the Muslim world knows that Obama's words at Cairo were just that, words. He brought them hope, only to show them that the change he was talking about is the one that Israel and AIPAC can believe in. This time, he doesn't have to run around saying "sorry" to every Jewish organization. He has done exactly what BiBi wanted him to do. Israel is the one country that can kill Americans with impunity. I am sure Obama assured BiBi that he wouldn't think of investigating the death of the 19 year old US citizen on the flotilla, just like the USS Liberty murders and the murder of Rachel Corrie. And since the US has paid Israel 118 billion and counting, since 1949, and BiBi will get another 3.2 billion this year, all US citizens have been made to be complicit in Israels actions against the Palestinians, and other Muslim countries, through out tax funded foreign aid gifts to Israel. As a US citizen, Obama fooled me once, when I wanted to believe in him, it won't happen again. He is just another politican bought and paid for, and the Muslim world needs to stop looking for help from the US, and turn towards other countries to find an honest broker. Obama and Clinton certainly can't be called that.
That is the change Obama meant in his Cairo speech, he just didn't explain it fully. Kissing up to BiBi, saved him from having to run around and apologize to the Jewish associations like he did the last time he and BiBi met. Of course he would thank BiBi for only killing 1 US citizen aboard the flotilla, and assured him that the US certainly wouldn't investigate, just like the Racheal Corrie killing. Guess he found it easy to trade his conscience for AIPAC money. This is the change Israel and AIPAC can believe in. I wouldn't say Obama is confused anymore, and it certainly gave those of us who voted for him last time, the best reason not to make the same mistake again.. My mama told me, "don't listen to the words, because words lie, watch the actions." Israel will get their monies worth from him.
Unfortunately I once believed Obama really meant what he said in Cairo, but the "Appeaser -in-chief " may try to come up with a good reason to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities. There was an article I read a long time ago that stated if Iran's nuclear facilities were bombed, the scientists could not definitely say that the result would not lead to a nuclear cloud that could follow the air currents and eventually cover Europe, and eventually make it's way across to the US. It's a shame Iran signed the Non proliferation treaty, then they could have demanded to do what Israel has done. How many failed states does the US want to be responsible for, since Iraq and Afghanistan are already considered failed states. Doesn't Obama realize that when you do the same thing over and over and come up with the same result that it's really crazy to keep doing it. But in his zeal to appease BiBi, I think he'd be more than willing to do it.
If we don't learn from history we are apt to repeat it. The rational behind the attack on the USS Liberty, was that if Israel could sink the ship, they could blame it on Egypt, and bring the US into their war. The Liberty, after being straffed and torpedoed remained standing, with 30+dead and 170 wounded. The same drum beats are being heard now. Clinton said that Iran may have suitcase bombs, the time for Iran to go nuclear has moved from 10 years to about 1. Perhaps Russia could build an air defense system for Iran, like the US is doing in Poland, just in case those who hate Muslims want to attack. Our Congress and Administration is already bought and paid for, they are just looking for an excuse. Unfortunately, most Americans are tired of our wars in Iraq and Afganistan, and they'll need to whip us up and give us a reason to support their new cause. Obama is becoming more like Pres. Johnson, who was reported as saying that they could kill the entire crew (USS Liberty) and sink the ship rather than embarrass an ally, when he recalled the planes sent to protect the Liberty. Muslim countries need to unite, because after Iran, who knows who will be next. The US as an "honest broker", now that's funny. I hope the reporters didn't miss BiBi patting Obama on the head, after their meeting.
