Why am I not surprised? The liberal/progressive blogosphere follows the "mainstream" narrative, by and large, which frames discussion/debate according to "democratic party" needs. It becomes a question of how to help "the party." And, in the end, that ends up framing the choice of moderators/blog admin on the left. Some "liberal" bloggers choose to eliminate opposing views because they are clueless -- Riverdaughter at The Confluence and Taylor Marsh-- some because they are acquiescing in Democratic Party funding needs, i.e., they don't want to be the cause of any negative associations which might limit donations to the party or give the GOP a weapon to use against them with the rest of the clueless public! I haven't read FDL in some time, having cut my associations to the Democratic Party; but if Philip Munger and Kathleen Galt at FDL are engaging in actual debate and discussion, like Mondoweiss, Loewenstein, and Karon are not afraid to do, then maybe I'll check out FDL. I won't get my hopes up, however; I've been burned, and banned, by left-leaning blogs too many times to count, and banned for even posting links to Mondoweiss.
Moving article; I admire Lillian Rosengarten so much. She has the courage of her convictions, a rare but incredibly brave thing.
Didn't know if you'd seen this, apologies if it's already been posted, but it's related to the courage of Lillian, in the sense that it takes courage to speak out, to tell the truth in the face of community condemnation and coercion to keep silent.

"I've got no remorse and no regrets!'
Famous last words from a young woman who is seriously deluded. Aubergil has shamed her Israeli army compatriots. She might pretend that she doesn't care; but she will care. I have to say, kudos to her IDF Reserve Service for dismissing her.
Sami, thank you for a profoundly moving blog-post. I sent it on to others in the hope that it will remind them to stop and think before engaging in mindless, ignorant stereotyping of innocent people.
Really, Citizen, I don't "get" the distinction here. Enlistees at low-level ranks in the US military also serve in support capacities. That Rahm Emanuel served the IDF--and he did just that--and not the military of the United States is offensive and disgusting; his citizenship should be revoked if you ask me.
It's offensive for American citizens to express their loyalty to a foreign country over loyalty to their own country, by serving in the military of that foreign country--without having first served in the military of their own country.
Hi, new hereabouts, but just wanted to say, I wrote to the good Rabbi as well; but this letter is excellent, and I thank the writer for sending it, just as a reminder that we see the lies, and the Rabbi's rank hypocrisy.
The Israeli army ... did not use napalm"
No, they used White Phosphorous during Operation Cast Lead.
They didn't "kill millions"; but they have killed thousands, in fact they've killed 6 thousand according to most accounts, since 2000, a 5-to-1 ratio to the approximately 1000 Israelis killed.
Other than that, I'm with you all the way Steve Laudig. It's hard to end up looking like a hero when you are a nuclear power and a military power, and you're shooting a 19 year old kid in the head 4 times at point blank range.
Violence really doesn't "work" in my view; but if there is a definitive "war" waged using violence, and the tactic is shifted to non-violence, the public relations factor does work. To wit: Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness of the IRA led that organization to shift from violent struggle to a "political struggle" and claimed the moral high ground; they've not yet liberated the six counties of Northern Ireland from the British, but their position has strengthened over the course of time since the 1998 Agreement.
