Self defense is no crime. Defense of others is no crime. Being an unregistered agent of a foreign government may be though.
There is no correlation between one who lacks belief/s in god/s and one who lacks either ethics and/or morals. Occasionally there is an individual who lacks both. It seems we're presented with such an exceptional creature in this Harris person who does possess irrational beliefs in something intangible such as U.S. and Zionist exceptionalism. It is a worship of sorts-secular, ethnic. Worship of a group because of its supposed traits was popular elsewhere in the 20th century without happy results either.
I am left wondering if the US embassy in Israel has a list of questions it asks those seeking assistance which goes: Are you a US National? [If yes, proceed; If no, go to Asylum questions] Are you Jewish? [If yes, proceed with questions. If no, terminate interview.] I am not in a position to do a FOIA request for the 'rules'.
I am left wondering how many slaveowners in the pre-civil war period US were ever charged with murdering their property and find the parallel both disturbing and unsurprising.
The franking privilege is abused. A simple remedy would be to not allow franking to apply unless the Congressperson personally signs the letter and personally signs the envelope. Then any error can be pinned to a human. Or in this case a dope.
The odds on the present reality accomplishing peace are, it seems to me, not that much different from the alternate reality that Congressdummy Pitts insists upon. Persistent vegetative state accurately describes the current situation. Representative democracy is precisely what the name implies. Perhaps that is why is fails so persistently and grandly.
Oren has a difficult job. Selling shit is a difficult job. Defending apartheid was a difficult job. Zionist Israel looks like a combination of East Germany and Apartheid South Africa.
How do you say "blood libel" in Danish?
- was not a glorious Jewish state; and
- was not created as a “necessary” evil (“currently not necessary”) in the aftermath of the Holocaust.
Jewish state: 1
Afrikaners didn't claim God had promised them South Africa, or did they?
Not claiming to talk to God and a God promise: 1

On this anniversary of Lee's surrender to a person who continues to rise in my esteem the more I learn of him, Grant, the thought, triggered by this analogy, of what "Radio CSA" would have sounded like, arises. After the War to Defend Slavery oops I mean the War for Southern Secession was over, it was repped as never being "about slavery" even though Southern American Apartheid-like practices have continued.
If you [Zionist Occupier Israel] cut off someone's legs, you will not be heard to argue for any benefit from their not being able to walk. I might suggest that even such an argument violates the Government of Israel's duty as an occupier. Out now is the only proper argument in response.
"If they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers." Thomas Pynchon, Gravity's Rainbow (New York: Penguin Books, 1973). 251.
The question isn't whether someone is/maybe/happens/wants to be to be "Jewish" but whether they have chosen to be a "Zionist". Different universe. Venn diagram overlap but not identity.
Bless Wasserman--Schultz's dark little heart. We cannot expect courage from snakes such as her who have slithered their way up the political ladder. Grasping power is far too important to allow principle to interfere with retaining it. Her 'morals' and 'ethics' are as supple as a snake. Call her "Gumby" for the backbone she possesses. If one fears a Horowitz they live in fear and have been/ are not / will never be a reliable ally.
Religious delusions are the most dangerous. If God, as the Zionists contend, their god has chosen them to possess the land, then it seems a heresy to argue that U.S. taxpayer support is needed. Did God say "Give the check to the United States?". I'm no bible scholar but I don't recall seeing that.
Don't bother calling me naive, I'll save you the trouble. I naively believe that as long as you give money and support to the Zionist Israeli Netanyahuists and Liebermanists. It/they/whatever you want to call this project will continue to do what it has always done and what has always resulted will always result. The moment the USG turns off the money tap [which is what I see Paul as president doing] then the Zionist Israelis, now running the government, will not longer have their [apartheidist, selected-by- God, mythological border] fantasies paid for by someone else. That very Moment they will begin to act differently. Their fanatics won't be funded and the world becomes a better safer place because lunatics won't be able to indulge their lunacies on someone else's dime. Israel's problems aren't the U.S. problems. The US doesn't need Israel any more than China needs North Korea. China has a better argument for supporting lunatics because the lunatic is next door. The US is supporting lunatics on the other side of the planet. Zionist Israel is a drag on US interests. Non-Zionist Israel might not be.
Schieffer shows himself to be among the smarmiest of 'journalists'. His scornful disrespect and condescension fills the screen. Schieffer is deeply embedded as part of the problem from corporate owned media. Schieffer is a deeply dishonest questionner who is a tout for the ruling [pro-Zionists Israel] party line.
am I missing something or is it a feature of Christian endtimes theology that the Jews must perish for the Christians to perish in order to get to heaven. Once you strip away all the bs that is what it boils down to. So anything that increases war, disastrous, end of the world type war is a good thing. by their thinking, or reasoning, or whatever you call such delusionalism. I'll sit in the back.
ramzijaber. thank you for the quotes. Is it possible to source them? you may contact me directly at email@example.com. thanks in advance.
Being the u.s. secretary of state is like being a salesman for a shit company. it is very very hard work selling shit. It takes a vast amount of personal psychic energy selling shit. this is particularly true if someone is fairly smart. Hilary, though in at least one instance a massively poor judge of men or perhaps easily gulled by a certain type, is smart. Thus she knows she is selling shit and is, at some level quite conflicted and wearied. In order to not being fatigued selling shit it takes someone smart enough to present things well but still dumb enough to believe that what they are selling isn't shit. These folks, not being internally conflicted, don't show the strain. Rather like Condolezza Rice who rarely broke into a sweat while selling shit.
That's Felonious Elliott Abrams who admitted his guilt by accepting the pardon.
A man heroically spends much of early and middle life fighting one monster --racial apartheid—in one country –South Africa. He knows the monster well and despite the odds and viciousness of apartheid defenders, he is instrumental in successfully navigating that treacherous ground and an end is brought to that particular monster. The navigation and negotiation requires compromises with the monster but the monster could count the numbers and could see the future and was not a nihilistic monster. Non-nihilistic monsters a concerned with life on earth. But a nihilistic monster believes that ‘GOD’ is on its side and is not so concerned about life on earth. The heroic man thinks he has learned certain lessons about dealing with monsters. The man now goes to deal with a new monster that looks a lot like the old monster. He makes an understandable mistake. A mistake of misidentification. He looks at the new monster but sees the old monster. He doesn't realize this new monster believes itself constituted by 'GOD' and 'GOD' allows no compromises only fidelity to death. 'GOD' doesn't believe in numbers and is unconcerned except for his chosen monster. The man doesn't realize this and makes the well-intended mistake of saying nice things about the monster thinking that what worked with the old monster should work with the new monster. But the heroic man has fooled himself. We all make mistakes when we are tired and fail to realize what we are dealing with.
Israeli supported Apartheid 1.0 while developing Apartheid 2.0. Netanyahu has morphed into Milosevic in the course of the double barrel Apartheid Religio-ethnic cleansing.
The vileness of U.S. policy makes it impossible for its representatives to have an honest discussion of it. To talk about it honestly is to reveal how despicable it truly it. It is the same game that the State Department played for apartheid [which Israel supported].
Refresh my recollection... what other state negotiated with an occupying neighbor to obtain recognition?
Victoria Nuland ..... wow... what a stellar performance. But then selling shit is difficult business. The dopey lyingness of it all comes across like a comedy routine. It's pure Abbott and Costello, "Who's on State?" I don't know ... Palestine.. Double double talk. It's like the Vatican spokespersons saying they are doing something about pedophilia. Bunch of hemming and hawing and lying.
Think on this: it's merely a Zionist Israeli "catch and release and catch and release" program in action funded by the dopey American taxpayer and the dopier American voter who persists in electing people to Congress who place another country's interests ahead of the the United States. When the U.S. runs out of money to pay for Zionist Israel's defense, then there will be a peace.
Odd though, the complaining lacks specificity. If the Republicans gridlock government what do the these embryonic war criminals want, rule by dictate? For Wall Street and Bank Street it really is only about Zionism.
Who is America’s biggest enemy?.. Depend upon whose America you are talking about. The biggest enemy to my America, in no particular order. Is is Scalia, Thomas, Alioto; Roberts and Kennedy who have weaponized money and turned elections into auctions. Hmmmm. Or General Electric and the Supreme Courts [substitute Rhenquist/OConnor and so on] for selecting a dope for president? Bernie Madoff? Michael Milliken? That otherwise nice man, Gerald Ford, for pardoning the Nixer and starting a trend of legal impunity for the ruling classes? The Savings and Loan Companies who showed others how to get money for nothing? the dark lord, unindicted war criminal medical experimenter torturer Dick Cheney? BankofMericaChaseAllOf WallStreet for tanking the economy of my America. Most of Congress for thinking that Zionist Israel's interests are as important as my America's interests and have been purchased by the lobbyists for a foreign country. Iran, hmm. I like pistachios and it has never harmed me and my America. Obama for campaigning on promises of hope for change and breaking nearly all of them by governing on fear. You pick. But Iran doesn't make the top 10, either domestic or foreign. Mexico's lack of a government causes more harm to my United States and thus must be consider a "greater" enemy. The main enemy is duplicity, stupidity, cupidity and fear of my fellow nationals.
Just as it intentionally engaged in policies that resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, so too, now, with Palestinians. Rome ruled the world. Augustus ruled Rome, but Livia ruled Augustus. So too with Israel and the present, and all likely, foreseeable, U.S. governments.
Is there anyone out there who thinks Tony Blair should not be in the dock as a war criminal? The U.S. and Israel are playing a stalling game in the hopes that all Palestinians will die or go away or lose interest. That's their entire strategy. Obama has shamed himself for electoral advantage and has divested himself of hope and will run on fear. But he's the best president since George Bush.

“Milḥemet Mitzvah or in Biblical Hebrew Milḥemeth Miṣwah (Hebrew: מלחמת מצווה, "War by commandment") is the term for a war during the times of the Tanakh when a king (of the Kingdom of Israel) would go to war in order to fulfill something based on, and required by, the Torah without needing approval from a Sanhedrin, such as war against Amalek.”
“At the top of the hierarchy came what was later to be called milchemet mitzvah [Holy War]. Holy war was of two kinds. Either it was waged against peoples especially designated by God as His enemies, such as the Amalekites, or else it served to achieve some sacred end, such as possession of the Land of Israel. Either way it was considered more than a purely human affair: it represented the Lord’s own special quarrel, so to speak. Milchemet mitzvah was a war of extermination in the fullest sense of hat term. The Israelites who engaged in it were put under strict obligation to spare nobody and nothing. Men, women, and children, even nonhuman living beings such as asses and cattle, were to be put to the sword. All material possessions were supposed to be burnt, the only exceptions being gold, silver, copper, and iron [this being considered a precious metal], which were to be consecrated to the Lord’s use.”
Martin Van Creveld, The Transformation of War (New York City, New York: Free Press, 1991). 134-135.
“There is, in Israel today, a resurgence of extremist groups who would like nothing better than to see the entire bloody concept revived and put back into operation.”
Martin Van Creveld, The Transformation of War (New York City, New York: Free Press, 1991). 141
milchemet mitzvah more than any rational understanding of national interests explains the Zionist Israeli's behavior since 1967. That the U.S. political elite has allowed lobbyists to handcuff the U.S. government to the Zealots means the future is dark. The U.S. political elites have to unshackle themselves. The question is whether the political class wants to. That issue will only be resolved by an "us [i.e. U.S.] or them [Zionists]" moment. Presumably that was what Bin Ladin was after.
The Palestinians are being gamed again. Its Charlie Brown and Lucy and a football. Obama continues to disappoint, fold and show no spine on any issue that matters.
Gibberish. When faced with an untenable position the State Department will make same sounds it made while defending the Apartheid South African Regime; Pinochet; other South American military dictators; Mobutu Sese Seko, the list goes on and on and on. Selling shit is difficult business ask Karen Hughes.
A showing of children's art from Buchenwald wouldn't be cancelled.
Somewhere in Robert Graves's "I, Claudius" he wrote something like "Rome rules the world and Augustus rules Rome, but Livia rules Augustus.
My take: The U.S. rules the world, but Israel rules the U.S.
Otherwise the Liberty would be remembered and Eisenhower's approach to Zionist-Israeli colonial imperialism in the Middle East would still be American policy.
Two more reasons to not vote for Obama: the U.S. veto of condemnation of Israeli violations of Palestinians and Palestinian territory; threatened veto of resolution on Palestinian statehood. The U.S. continues to ride shotgun for Israel; just as it did for apartheid South Africa; and an endless list of Latin American dictators and African dictators and Southeast Asian dictators and the Shah and on and on and on. The two-faced audacity of it is [un]hopefilled. Nothing will be lost by not voting for Obama as there is no difference between his actions [rhetoric sure] and Palin, Bachmann, Romney, Gingrich et twit.
With each passing episode the Israeli government and legal order more and more resembles Apartheid South Africa and the Confederate States of America. The CSA began it's life [despite what its modern apologists would have you believe] with the explicit avowed purpose of defending, preserving and extending slavery. Some of its adherents wanted the death penalty for anyone who spoke against slavery. The CSA became a military dictatorship in a militarized state with censorship while drafting all men who were not just out of the cradle or near the grave. The history of Apartheid South Africa is recent enough to not warrant exposition. Sadly enough many U.S. citizens residing in the North during the war for southern secession supported the notion of a slave republic. Sadly enough many U.S. citizens during apartheid's day had no objection to its modern version of slavery and oppression. Some public opinion phenomena remain even when the population changes. Happily, enough Americans fought against slavery to make a difference. Happily too, many Americans came to realize the essential evils of apartheid to both white practitioners and black victims. One can be a cheery pessimist or a gloomy optimist and hope for similar changes in the thinking of many Americans when knowledge of Israeli apartheid and oppression becomes more widely known. If it wasn't so evil they wouldn't have to spend so much effort trying to make it look good. Ending slavery and apartheid in all its forms is necessary for the victims AND the perpetrators.
“. . . historically-minded Protestants will conclude that only one honest course is left to them: namely, to revive Jesus's own form of Judaism and subject themselves to circumcision and the laws of ritual cleanliness in token of their sincerity.”

Former Congresswoman McKinney is such a mixed bag of occasional dopery that I have found it difficult to hold a consistent opinion with regards to her public personality. I guess I'd let her park my car, drive it in city, but not cross country. Can't think of a better metaphor. Her public pronouncements are oftentimes agreeable and sometimes seem to result from a brain fart.
LBJ had the lie-based Tonkin resolution Obama has the lie based wars in Iraq; Afghanistan and Libya.
Anyone who hasn't concluded that Obama and Clinton are simply imperial caretakers, uninterested in progressives, except for their votes, simply has not been paying attention.
I wanted to pass on a site that I don't recall being mentioned here but I can't know everything! I read it for purposes of knowing and "hearing" what it would be like to have to read memos from Douglas Feith [SMOP] on U.S. Foreign Policy and then suffering a committee meeting with him and his kind. Today's topic is "One of the more curious aspects of President Obama's May 19 Middle East speech was his decision to devote so much attention to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict." link to shadow.foreignpolicy.com. Does anyone else find it as astonishing that the Vatican [population less than 500 speakers of an otherwise "dead" language] has recognition [courtesy of the still-dead Mussolini if such things as genealogy matter] while the Palestinian nation, which has created a state, doesn't?
Congress was one of last bastions for apartheid's support also; and slavery; and debt peonage
"Well aware of the genocide that had been inflicted by the North Vietnamese against their own peasants in the late 1950′s (50,000 killed, hundreds of thousands more imprisoned and expelled), American policy makers understood the consequences of their failure to save South Vietnam from the North’s aggression." Well aware because of a similar U.S. policy towards Native Americans.
Yes "irony" and "hypocrisy" are lost on the liberals. That's why I am not one. The only entity touting itself as the only "democracy" in the "Middle East" itself hampers "the free exchange of ideas, intellectual independence, and generally interfere with academic freedom" by its widespread, and racist, oppression. The current policy of the Israeli state has made Israel the problem creator of the middle east. Anyone not seeing that is willfully blind. It is no longer in the U.S. interest to support Israel. Can Israeli policy be redeemed? One hopes so. But as long as the U.S. money flows [democracies should be self-supporting] one ought bet the other way. The Protestants in Northern Ireland accepted their historic situation; the Afrikaners in South Africa accepted theirs. Zionist Israelis probably won't because they are ahistorical and you don't make deals if GOD says you are entitled to the land. So when the new Rome fails, as the U.S. will and perhaps sooner than later [think Soviet Union 1986 who saw 1989 coming?]. So too will the New Israel.
In Northern Ireland neither side was "exterminationist" and both sides want to live in the country and neither side had a "big daddy" with a bottomless pocket. Being different flavors of Christianity provided a common ground or worldview of sorts. Plus one side claimed that "God Gave Us this Country". There's no deal-making with GOD. Obama's in/actions are are much evidence as crime. If Apartheid South Africa had "the lobby" it'd still be in business.
Does anyone actually doubt that the foundations of U.S. history are steeped in slavery, land theft, and genocide? and the European presence in the Americas was powered by greed and greased with slavery and murder? And that the Americans have squandered their ill-gotten gain by the endless war/s since 1898?
"Goldstone said that there was no evidence that the Israelis deliberately targeted civilians in Gaza." "No evidence" is not evidence of no. And it is more accurate to say that "no evidence was found" but again "no evidence found" is not evidence of no. Behavior is truth and why does "specific intent" really matter here? I [knowing the probable effects of a bullet and knowing of the existence of a crowd of people and know that "gravity works"] shoot a bullet into the air over a crowd of people. One is killed. Intent is a lawyer's quibble and can be taken into account after conviction when sentence is imposed.
ASIDE: Opinionjuris has a posting of some relevance titled "Israel’s Changes in Response to the Goldstone Report"
by Kevin Jon Heller

Publicly, Israel has been nothing but critical of the Goldstone Report. Netanyahu responded to Goldstone’s recent partial retraction, for example, by calling for the “twisted and nonfactual” Report to be thrown “into the dustbin of history.” ....... I attempted to post this elsewhere on Mondoweiss but being in China sometimes cannot tell if it "got thru".

Might I recommend Robert O. Paxton, The Anatomy of Fascism (New York City, New York: Vintage Books, 2005) which contains an accurate [unlike Lewis] description of fascist ascent to power. In reading Lewisʻs stuff there is always an odor of racism, classism, "white-ism" if you like. I am surprised anyone reads his polemical works anymore.
Neocons [short for Neo Convicts?]: You see what you want to see.
"Especially among the Palestinian movement, the illusion was that, if the US really knew what was going on, it would “do something”. Vast amounts of activist work went into publicizing atrocities and trying to get the US foreign policy establishment to notice so it would “do something”. Of course, US analysts already knew what was going on and the US was not going to “do something”—for one simple reason: it was getting what it wanted from the situation—Israeli cooperation as a regional power and Palestinian political passivity."
Behavior is truth. The U.S. "is" doing something. Exactly what it wants to do. The untruths are spoken and written.
Obama continues to disappoint. I intentionally do not listen to his speeches because is mostly talk. The are far less impressive when read. He is mostly not walk. His is a "long" con. But the person "conned" has responsibility also. After all he only "looks" Black and that is evidence of my prejudice and his career from an early age was fitting into powerful white institutions. Punahoe is/was such an institution. He is only preferable by comparison to his opposition and in fact is substantively not different from Clinton. Anyone who seriously considered Birch Evans Bayh III for vice president must immediately have the presumption against being a progressive entered against them. Biden was instrumental in the Patriot act. When BEB III was contemplating a presidential run he "hip-faked" to the left. Obama recognized a kindred spirit. Setting aside Vietnam, LBJ was vastly more progressive and effective. The situation with Democratic party presidents reminds me of what happens when a ball is dropped from a great height. So beginning with Roosevelt the height of the next bounce is lower and lower until there is no bounce. When none happens we'll probably get to find out.
Obama and Clinton continue to disappoint. And I would not argue that "Oh, just wait till he isn't facing re-election... when he is re-elected he will change." There is no lie stronger than a self-lie.
the photo tells us much five gray/white [one shouldn't kid one's self Obama attended an exclusive one time wholly white prep school for his early education and never looked back except a disingenuous bow for street cred. Having read his book a couple of times I was left with the impression that he cuts the historical man to fit his ahistorical clothes, rather than having the argument fit the facts. His errors are errors of omission and occasional distortion plus he "mind reads" intents.
"One can only be amazed that the Palestinian people remain so strong and steadfast after enduring 62 years of Israeli security harassment far worse than what I went through today." The comparison of Palestinians with African-Americans after the end of Reconstruction begin to multiply. There are differences of course with the U.S. having a national government, on paper i.e. constitutionally, committed to equal rights. But the tolerance of the discriminated against should be emphasized. Zionist Israel has the "wall" the U.S. had "sun-down" towns. [Google Jim Loewen for his book]. The more I learn about what the Zionists Israeli government/state is doing the more despicable "Jim Crowy" and "Apartheidy" it looks. Before I knew what it was doing it was always "brave little democratic Israel" in a "fight for its life". That simply isn't true [if it ever was]. My mind has been changed by the facts. Were the U.S. to turn off the money flow, the Zionists would get very reasonable very quickly. 100 billion in U.S. taxpayer dollars since 1948 is the most accurate measure I can find. That doesn't count "deductibles" in the U.S. tax code which is a subsidy also.
AIPAC has come to stand for "Apartheid Israeli Political Action Committee."

Zionist violence against the Palestinians is foreshadowed in the Old Testament whose narrative undermines any Biblical claim to the territory.
The moment after the U.S. government [which appears to be a wholly operated subsidiary for Zionist interests] ceases funding Israel is the moment reason begins to operate. The U.S. taxpayer is [involuntarily to a large degree] funding the operation of the Israeli state which is owned and operated by [there's no gentle way to put it] religious nuts. But crazy people can count and will [I suggest begin to] behave sanely if they must fund their own insanity. But the MLK model was the way to get whites to support blacks against racist whites and is the way to get most Americans to support the Palestinians against what is an increasingly racist/ethnicist/religiously bigoted Israel legal order.
Zionism is beginning to look, feel, smell, sound,...... and act like racism.

“An astonishing event occurred in the United Nations this month: the government of Serbia made a complete reversal of its policy toward Kosovo. Ever since Kosovo’s declaration of independence in 2008, the Serbian government has maintained that it will never recognize the right of its former province to secede, but will fight through diplomacy and through the United Nations to get it back. And it continued to maintain that position even after the International Court of Justice in the Hague ruled in July that there is nothing in international law that prohibits Kosovo from declaring independence. Now, to the surprise of everyone—including me—the Serbian government has agreed to hold compromise talks with Kosovo.”

Why? Money, the lack of it, made the Serbians reasonable. Apply the same logic to Israel. Money, the abundance of it, has made the Israelis intractable. Turn off the money and watch progress being made. Are Israelis any different from Serbians when it comes to money? [abuse alert]. Some will howl at comparing the Israelis with the genocidal Serbs. But I suggest there are a couple of powerful parallels. Both have engaged in ethnic cleansing of territories they claim a “historic” right to. Both have been frenzied in their own claim towards victimhood. Both have demonstrated a contempt for international law. Both have been sponsored by a large powerful foreign power. [let the abuse begin]
Yes, there is a parallel but it that Israel=Britain in Palestine while Britain=Britain in India. If Pillar's typical of the CIA then it ieasy to see why few believe in A: their competence or B: their honesty. The question should be where is the Mountbatten of Israel to arrange the withdrawal from occupied territory.
anyone else notice how reasonable the Serbians got once money was cut off and then its restoration promised if it quit being racist/ethnicist/religiousist/whateverist. Those who control the U.S. government, if they wanted, could have peace very quickly if they turned the money tap off. It is easy. Make it illegal to send money to a state that is occupying land it does not hold sovereignty to. The EC got the Serbians to walk on two legs using money as a stick and carrot. The U.S. [if it wanted to] could do the same with apartheid South Africa err I mean "Arabs cannot vote" Israel.
"And, in 2010, the groups in the world most in love with Israel are Christian fundamentalists, far-right politicians in Europe and Orthodox Jews. That’s quite a motley collection of friends." And supporters of the "soft on Hitler"; "soft on child molesters" "hard on women's rights" "money laundering" Vatican.
Read this speech as part of his re-election bid. He needs the money from the friends of Zionist Israel to be re-elected. I have made it a point to never listen to his speeches and only read them. In "black and white" his words, when compared to his performance or his behaviors, well "fraud" is a strong word, so I'll settle for whatever is just a little bit less worse than fraud.
I suppose the ugly echo to Peretz is that "Palestinian lives are cheap .... to Zionists." Both of which hearken back to the only good Indian is a dead one from, was it Sherman?

So let me get this straight: shalala is lying about her feelings to get money. What else is she lying about and to get what? If she had been dipped in shit during the process would she then say she loved the rosewater bath?
Presumably Uribe is there is U.S. approval or non-opposition. Thanks Hilary. Hilary is beginning to remind me of Jeanne Kirkpatrick [or was it Kilpatrick] Reagan's apologist for murderers.
If one is a member of a group "chosen by God" there seems to be no self-imposed limits to one's earthly behavior towards those not so fortunate as to be so selected. These Zionists are sowing a terrible wind and daily provide evidence that they cannot be entrusted with the power of a state.
Just so I am clear now. A Republican President lied to get the U.S. into a war while a Democratic President is lying to keep the U.S. in the war. While in Vietnam a Democratic President lied to get the U.S. into a war and a Republican President lied to keep the U.S. in the War. GWB = LBJ; BHO = =RMN. ? =GRF?
So let me get this straight the current [and past] Israeli government provided aid to the PKK [or whatever the initials were] and it initiated terror attacks on a NATO ally thus making Israel a proven sponsor of terror. Time to invade and overthrow the regime. oh, the U.S. is already there in Israel or is Israel there in the U.S.
I cannot imagine taking Tom Friedman's opinions about anything seriously. He's all blow and no go. He "knows" a lot of insignificant things and puts this "knowledge" together in trite, uninteresting, and almost always invariably wrong ways. His breathless style reminds me a little bit of Carl Sagan except Carl actually knew something and could convey that knowledge. Mr. Friedman conveys a propaganda point of view.
It seems there is no arguing [which perforce cognizes the possibility of a persuasive different view] with either God, or those believing themselves [on thin evidence] to be God's chosen people. As there is no arguing there is only compulsion and compulsion knows no justice.
The parallels with the township and pass system from Apartheid South Africa continue to be revealed. All of this wouldn't be occuring but for the ceaseless flow of U.S. dollars. Washington is just as responsible as Tel Aviv.
Credit where credit is due then. A fair reading of the Old Testament reveals some instances of genocide by the Palestine- invading Hebrews. Is that a Hebraic invention also?
"Bliar" conveys all that is needed to be known about the former prime minister.
shortly I hope to see that Israeli government actions and policies are no longer the issue and that the relentless torrent of money sent to the Israeli government by the U.S. is. Libraries are closing in the U.S.; Schools are deteriorating. Every dollar sent to Israel is a dollar taken from American children. that, I suggest is, or should be, the next big issue. $100,000,000,000 is enough.
All that is missing in Israel now is hoods and lynchings, oh, they do have the modern version of lynchings and there is no need for the hoods. The hoods weren't really necessary in the old Confederacy either the just made it easier for the authorities to not be able to prosecute. Not that they were so inclined. So too are then not so inclined in Israel.
So white phosphorus is the "new" napalm. And it was probably made, or engineered, by the U.S. government which has as much culpability as the current Israeli administration since U.S. government funding causes Israeli actions. I am using a jurisprudential definition of "cause" in the sense that "but for" U.S. funding the Israeli government actions wouldn't happen or that U.S. funding is a "significant factor" in the enabling the Israeli government to engage in the actions. A gangster's banker is as culpable as the gangster.
I see no reason to try to say, in one's own words, something that another has said better. From M Van Creveld "They [Israeli soldiers] are very brave people... they are idealists... they want to serve their country and they want to prove themselves. The problem is that you cannot prove yourself against someone who is much weaker than yourself. They are in a lose-lose situation. If you are strong and fighting the weak, then if you kill your opponent then you are a scoundrel... if you let him kill you, then you are an idiot. So here is a dilemma which others have suffered before us, and for which as far as I can see there is simply no escape. Now the Israeli army has not by any means been the worst of the lot. It has not done what for instance the Americans did in Vietnam... it did not use napalm, it did not kill millions of people. So everything is relative, but by definition, to return to what I said earlier, if you are strong and you are fighting the weak, then anything you do is criminal." Wikipedia.
The current Israeli policies doom it.
I would examine recasting it as a genocide prevention campaign:
Under article 2 of the 1948 Convention Against Genocide, the crime is defined as
any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such: killing members of the group; causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life, calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group; [and] forcibly transferring children of the group to another group..
Let the pro-current Israeli policies howling begin.
The psychosis has its genesis in believing that "God chooses a people". After all there is no arguing with God [or the people God chooses.] One derangement leads to another. Look at the Christian fundys who are climate change deniers. The training in having one fact-free belief makes it easier to have other fact-free beliefs.
There may be some relief available under U.S. law against Israel for their actions in this matter.
The Israeli government now is taking on the aspects of Bull Connor with the dogs and firehoses.
Of course Israel can kill Americans with impunity. Ask the survivors of the U.S.S. Liberty.
Israelis can celebrate all they want. but they should stop taking U.S. taxpayer money. And the U.S. should stop giving it. the money is needed at home where it can be used to build schools and maintain bridges and not blow things up. $100 billion is enough. Stopping the money will stop the madness or at least slow it down.
When you consider yourself God's chosen people there is no limit to the inhumanity you can engage in. After all your actions are God's will and there is no arguing with God's will. Ask the Taliban. All of this inhumanity was very predictible and it will persist.
oops "If the nukes don't fit, you must acquit." big fingers, little keys.
Okay. These are not for "sale" but we'll trade or how about we just give them to you and then someday you will give us something back. Dershowitz would have been on O.J.s defense team too. If the nukes to fit, you must acquit.
the dominant political parties of Israel have become infected with the same attitudes as the one-time dominant political party of South Africa, that one group [call it a "chosen" group] is factually superior to all others and that this group [defined by birth or ethnicity or perhaps religious belief] is, by some series of arguments, entitled to a legal order making itself unequally superior to all non-members. It is an old and discredited, morally bankrupt position that can end rather well [in the U.S. Jim Crow has/is ended/ending; in South Africa apartheid death struggles were far less devastating than many would have predicted] or not so well. Regardless, the American taxpayer shouldn't be subsidizing it. We have enough problems at home that need our money. If the money flow were to end, the behaviour it subsidizes would have to end.
Getting onto the lands of others has turned the Israeli state inside out making it a replica of what it used to oppose. No good has come of it, nor ever will.
Mr. Dershowitz is sounding more and more like Ralph Nader. A crank who used to have crediblity and now just makes a lot of non-credible noise.
attacks on the person are the weakest. When Dershowitz defended von Bulow after von Bulow [allegedly must always be inserted despite what we believe may be the fact of the matter since von Bulow had means, motive and opportunity and was convicted once] he was only "following the law". Dershowitz's one time solid reputation among lawyers has now been pissed away by him.
So, if "body counts" are moral arguments the Israelis are responsible for more deaths via the arms trade for profit than Judge Goldstone from the bench. While Judge Goldstone by assisting in the relatively peaceful end of apartheid saved lives that the weapons sold by Israelis to the Afrikaners were designed to take. Advantage Goldstone. This argument will go on for years until finally the Israelis fold unless the final Israeli goal is extermination of the Palestinians. They will have then taken the same route as .... As Martin Van Creveld has said: "if you are strong and you are fighting the weak, then anything you do is criminal."
Israel was a vocal opponent of apartheid, they partnered with SA only out of necessity following the Yom Kippur war when most of Africa stopped trading with Israel. Don’t give us this more righteous than you BS, all countries, including yours and mine, have strange bedfellows.
So let me get the moral argument correct: Israel suppported apartheid "because it had to" because "Africa" made it but otherwise Israel was a "vocal opponent of apartheid" and don't give us [who is us?] vulgarity and so on because "all countries".... I'd like some citable sources on the criticism. I suspect the Israeli government's words criticising apartheid could easily be made applicable to Israeli treatment of Palestinians. Sidebar: the U.S. government supported the apartheid South African regime far more generously than the U.S. nation ever did.... to the government's shame. I draw a distinction between the nation and the government when considering the actions of the U.S. and Israel and South Africa for that matter. I doubt you are arguing that the majority of South Africans nationals [which would include disenfranchised Blacks] supported the apartheid government controlled by racist Afrikaners. So again we bump into the Israeli government supporting the racist Afrikaner South African regime for which there is no moral defense. States make moral choices as to behavior just as individuals do and must be held accountable for them. The Israeli state can act as it wishes, as an American I just don't want my government assisting it in practices that I find morally rephrehensible. I didn't like it when Johnson, and Nixon and Ford and Carter and especially Reagan and Bush aided the racist Afrikaner regime. I don' like it that 100 billion U.S. dollars has now been given to the Israeli regime. Israel has no recognized international legal claim to the occupied territories nor does it have any moral claim on U.S. resources.
I'm wondering whether Mr. Goldstone or the Israeli State provided more support for the Afrikaner-apartheid South African state? Is my memory correct in thinking that Israel had substantial long term dealings that propped up the Afrikaners centering around weapons and diamonds and that the Afrikaners spoke loudly in support of Israel? This raises the issue of Rhodesia. Am I mistaken in my thinking that Zionist Israel supported the white Rhodesian government of Ian Smith?
"No wonder Israeli Consulate General Akiva Tor stayed for the entire vote." It could be argued that this presence which was intended to influence the outcome of a purely American internal political forum is interference in the internal political affairs of another country. We know that the Israeli government interferes already by lobbying in the U.S. Israel out of Palestine and Israel out of U.S. politics.
Robert Graves argues that, if his "arguments are are true then historically minded Protestants will conclude the only honest course left to them is to be circumcised and adhere to the laws of ritual cleanliness." Grave and Podro, The Nazarene Gospel Restored. Of course religion matters and should be discussed honestly rather that falsely claiming because it shouldn't [why shouldn't it?] it doesn't. Such a discussion would be areal.
Obama has just announced that he has approved the extra-judicial execution [call it murder] of an American citizen. A lot of people projected their hopes onto him. They are now being disappointed. The U.S. government's purported affection for "rule of law" only applies to others [other than the U.S.G and other than Israel].
It is now time for the U.S. to learn to give up its empire. In 1893 the U.S. invaded and overthrew the government of the Hawaiian Islands. It has occupied it since. In 1898 the U.S. ginned up a fight with Spain to take it's empire. Since then Haiti, Nicaragua, Iran, Guatemala, Vietnam, Grenada, Iraq, Afghanistan, there are others of course. In the meantime, Great Britain, France, Russia dba Soviet Union, the Austro-Hungarians, Germany and the Turks dba the Ottomans have been relieved of their empires. Some gracefully, some not so. The French may have done the best bad job of it. But the U.S. elites should learn the lesson that the days of empire are over. It seems that each generation of U.S. elites must be taught the same lesson. They must be "retarded". The lesson will have to be beaten into them. So thanks to the Vietnamese, they gave the U.S. elites the chance to learn. The Iraqis beat the U.S. and now the Afghanis are putting on a graduate level symposium for the U.S. elites.
Churchill knew it needed the U.S. if there was ever a chance to preserve the Empire. That's all that what was special about the relationship.
Remind McCain of "The Liberty". link to en.wikipedia.org
Dershowitz and declining ratio of legal "personhood" reminds me of the U.S. Constitution. "Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned ... according to their respective Numbers, .... to the whole Number of free Persons, ... excluding Indians ..., three fifths of all other Persons." Of course on cannot be only 2/5ths dead. Declare humans non-persons, then it's legal to kill them. I doubt he'd see his hypocrisy. Most hypocrites don't or at least feign that they don't.
"The day after America cuts off its financial support to Israel, ..our scenario has a beginning but not a phase two."
It is not my position as an American citizen and taxpayer to concern myself with how the Israeli government or state reacts to no longer getting my money. Their existence is their concern. How it deals with its neighbors is its concern not mine. Sitting in the U.S. with crumbling infrastructure and failing public schools and a collapsing health care system means these are my concerns.
"To be specific: ....You have not thought through your scenario." I assume by "scenario" you mean a "projection for the future" or a "desired result". No actually I have, from the point of view of an American citizen placing the interests of myself and my fellow Americans first. I don't have a "scenario" for the Israeli state. My "scenario" is that the Israeli state has its problems and that those problems are not my problems and that I have neither a duty nor even an interest in continuing to fund the Israeli state, or the Egyptian state or any other state except perhaps the Mexican state, which if it fails can create extreme problems for myself and my fellow Americans. Even assuming there is some legitimate American interest in funding the Israeli state it is less significant the funding the Mexican state [and certainly less than funding the bankrupt state of California or the bankrupt school districts in Kansas City I just heard about].
We all know how this works. No U.S. money, no Israel. When the U.S. bankrupts and is no longer able to support 750 or so military bases around the world, or the $1,000,000 per year per G.I. in Iraq/Afgh, then the U.S. begins to become a normal country and Israel will have to become one also. No more exceptionalisms.
"Neither The Hague Rules, the customary law of war, nor the post-1949 law of armed conflict and accompanying international humanitarian law, account for non-state groups waging prolonged campaigns of terrorism—and, in some cases, more conventional military attacks— that leave the defending state with little choice but to respond in ways that inflict heavy civilian casualties."
Isn't this a false statement of current international law? They begin with a deeply mendacious and demonstrably erroneous premise.
Could someone direct me to a website [if there is one] that provides a side by side comparison of the legal discriminations which apartheid South Africa placed on blacks and coloreds and similar legal discriminations the State of Israel places on Palestinians [and others]? Such things as intermarriage; travel, employment, curfew, property ownership. I'm sorry to trouble on this I have searched with out success.
Thanks in advance.
There is a "Greg Garrison" a rightwing, somewhat unhinged small market radio talk show "host" in Indianapolis. He's an attorney also who, while screaming about shrinking government and the general evil of government, has had all four paws in the trough doing collection work for either Marion County or Indianapolis.
