  • John Kerry gives the 'separate but not equal' speech to Israel
    • Zionists win again. They are kicking up so much dust over this as to intimidate this type of thing from happening again. They couldn't be so more clearly in the wrong on this issue as what could they possibly defend, but amazing to see the one sided coverage of this in the American media

  • Trump appoints ex-Israeli settler to oversee peace process
    • I wouldn't put it past hardcore trump supporters, if the opportunity comes to hate an other, especially in the form of Muslims, they will be willing to put off their hate of Israeli influence on their government for a while

  • Abstention at the UN, or the Owl of Minerva of American Diplomacy
    • I believe the right wing Israelis got the perfect candidate for their go to war with Iran plan. Donald Trump is as clueless as George W was when the neocons selected him years ago and Trump can create enough distraction with his huge ego that there will be plenty of sideshows and domestic chaos in America keeping everyone busy while the war agenda will be pursued for Israel. He is currently assembling a right wing Israeli and American pro war team with Tillerson probably the closest to a cool head.

  • 15-year-old Ahed Tamimi denied visa by State Dept for US speaking tour
    • The last thing the Israeli/Zionist establishment in the U.S. wants is a young girl who could pass for a European with her blond hair and green(or blue?) eyes running around America humanizing the Palestinian cause. Palestinians are only supposed to be brown skinned angry Muslim Arabs who are jealous of our democracy, a white looking Palestinian might attract more Americans to the cause lol.

  • In latest pander to Israel lobby, Clinton smears Max Blumenthal's criticism of Wiesel as 'hateful'
    • Hats off to Max for his article and who knows, maybe Hillary is doing him a favor by pointing at him and his article. Negative attention will bring more people to pay attention to what he has to say...

  • Harvard scholar calls for US-Israel treaty to 'lock in' special relationship before young Democrats end the romance
  • Clinton to Palestine: Drop dead
    • That's exactly what it is, contempt for Americans. I wonder how much debate is being had about the fact that they even have to explain to us to begin with. I'm sure they have a plan in play to eliminate that nuance eventually as well.

    • The fact that the word “occupation” is up for debate sends chills down my spine, this one was a given before Hillary. The nefarious intent behind that to me is obvious, wiping the slate clean of any ties to Israel for Palestinians, and guaranteed the next thing up for grabs will be the word Palestinian and whether one ever existed. With Hillary approaching the Oval Office, the emboldening right wing of Israel can come out full force now, here in America, because our leaders no longer represent our interests.

It concerns me that we are not talking about that in big headlines here, the fact that such an aggressive move has been made to take "Occupation" out of the conversation all of a sudden.

    • They are taking things to the next level on all fronts, no longer mention the words occupations and settlements means that's it on to full legitimization. I'm wondering why the following is not worthy of attention on Mondoweiss?

There you have it, clear as day.

"In her presentation, Goldstein acknowledged that efforts to promote Israel as a democracy with “great beaches” had failed to stem the support for Palestinian rights, so “we have to focus on the offense, on Islamists and how they violate the basic civil rights that liberals hold very, very dear.”

Efforts to exploit and promote Islamophobiaas a way to build support for Israel are not new, but the New York meeting heralded a renewed push in that direction.

Following the advice of pro-Israel pollster Frank Luntz to appropriate leftist and human rights language, Goldstein said the anti-Muslim message would appeal to the sensibilities of liberal and progressive college students.

She argued that pro-Israel advocates had to speak about the BDS movement “in the terminology that Millennials will understand, which is the civil rights terminology.”

“[Students] want to be against apartheid? Let’s give them what to be against,” she said, “Let’s give them [sic] to be against Islamist gender, race and religious apartheid that is occurring in every single Muslim-majority country on the planet.”

As its contribution, Goldstein explained that her organization would be launching what she called “Islamist Apartheid Week” on campuses across the US, an apparent effort to counter Israeli Apartheid Week.

And while Goldstein markets herself as a “human rights attorney,” she proudly touts her friendship with Geert Wilders, the anti-Muslim Dutch politician who has been fundedby a key player in the US Islamophobia industry.

Wilders’ anti-Muslim agenda is so extreme it has even been condemned by the Anti-Defamation League, a major pro-Israel group."

“We need to raise the stakes for those who engage in this sort of behavior, let them know their nose is going to bleed,” Abrams said in reference to fellow students who had advocated for a boycott of Israeli institutions complicit in military occupation and violations of Palestinian rights.

While speakers asserted several times that advocates should share positive messages about Israel and Zionism, Goldstein was frank that only repression of protest and BDS would shore up Israel’s eroding base of support.

“The goal is to make the enemy pay,” Goldstein said, “and to send a message, a deterrent message, that similar actions such as those that they engage in will result in massive punishments.”

    • Annie, have you seen this, it's so utterly troubling to me that I am hoping more light can be shed on it.

“Why are we using the word Palestinian? There’s no such thing as a Palestinian person,” Brooke Goldstein declared to enthusiastic applause at a meeting of key Israel lobby operatives in New York earlier this month.

Goldstein is the director of the Lawfare Project, a legal group that aims, in her words, to “make the enemy pay” – that “enemy” being mainly comprised of Palestine solidarity activists and students.

The Lawfare Project was founded with the support of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, an important forum for anti-Palestinian organizing in the US.

The clip of Goldstein denying outright the existence of Palestinians can be seen above.

At the event, she and other Israel lobby leaders revealed their latest strategies to try to defeat the growing boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement.

A 58-minute edited video of the event was originally published on YouTube by the Jewish Broadcasting Service on 16 June, but was hidden a day after supporters of Palestinian rights began to circulate it on social media, drawing attention to Goldstein’s negation of Palestinian existence.

The Electronic Intifada is republishing the whole video under the Fair Use doctrine of the US Copyright Act:

In her presentation, Goldstein acknowledged that efforts to promote Israel as a democracy with “great beaches” had failed to stem the support for Palestinian rights, so “we have to focus on the offense, on Islamists and how they violate the basic civil rights that liberals hold very, very dear.”

Wilders’ anti-Muslim agenda is so extreme it has even been condemned by the Anti-Defamation League, a major pro-Israel group.

      “Cancer”
Goldstein was speaking at an event on 2 June titled “BDS: The new anti-Semitism?”

Organized by the World Zionist Organization, the American Zionist Movement and the UJA-Federation of New York, it was addressed by Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon.

It came just days after Israel’s major anti-BDS conference held at UN headquarters.

Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice-president of the Conference of Presidents, told the meeting that the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement was like a deadly disease.

“We let this cancer metastasize until now on campuses across the United States,” Hoenlein said.

He claimed that the BDS movement for Palestinian freedom, justice and equality was indistinguishable from the persecutions Jews had faced throughout history.

“This started when the Romans changed the name of Judea to Philistia,” Hoenlein asserted in a bizarre appeal to ancient history and myth, “that was the beginning of BDS.”

But he was clear that the purpose of the New York gathering was to create a movement “that uses all of our resources, all of our energies” in order to “put an end to this threat.”

Hoenlein said that pro-Israel activists need to reach youth who “communicate in 140 letters,” an apparent reference to the social media site Twitter.

Overlooking the fact that this is the most diverse and integrated generation of American college students ever, Hoenlein went on to insult the intelligence of the very youth he wants Israel to connect with. “This is an ignorant generation, a superficial generation,” Hoenlein said.

      Attacking students
The Lawfare Project’s Brooke Goldstein also indicated that her legal group was preparing another Title VI challenge against US universities, naming San Francisco State University and the University of California, Irvine, as likely targets.

In recent years, pro-Israel groups lodged complaints against several universities under Title VI of the US Civil Rights Act, alleging that administrators were failing to protect Jewish students from a hostile environment created by Palestine solidarity activists.

But these complaints were thrown out by investigators from the US Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights.

Goldstein’s revelation casts the latest attacks by pro-Israel groups on Palestine solidarity activists at UC Irvine and San Francisco State University in a new light.

Goldstein said her group was encouraging Jewish students on those campuses to file police complaints against Palestine solidarity activists, “so we can pressure the [district attorney] to bring criminal charges against those students, just like was done with Michael Oren’s speech.”

She was referring to the Irvine 11 case, in which 10 students faced criminal charges for protesting a 2010 speech at UC Irvine by Orenwhen he was the Israeli ambassador to the US.

These cases would also presumably be used as the pretext for the Title VI complaints.

Goldstein also used the New York gathering to argue that contrary to the unanimous opinion of the international community, Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are not illegal and that the EU was violating international law by requiring that products manufactured in Israeli settlements have accurate labels indicating their origin.

In warlike language, Israeli ambassador Danon told the gathering that their efforts to suppress support for Palestinian rights had the full support of the Israeli state.

“We will stand against our enemies. We will stand against the people who are going to boycott Israel, and we will win,” Danon said.

The violent and dehumanizing language was echoed by Yuval Abrams, a student and activist against the Palestine solidarity movement at the CUNY Graduate Center of the City University of New York.

    • “The state of Israel and citizens of Israel see a leadership today that’s ceased to function,” Yaalon told a stunned audience that repeatedly interrupted him with applause. “We see a leadership that hides behind gatekeepers and worries about the survival of the regime rather than the welfare of the nation. A leadership that practices a tactic of ‘scare and rule,’ that divides us rather than uniting us, that divides Jews from Arabs and left from right, that attacks the Supreme Court and undermines the rule of law.”
Yaalon is a former career soldier who served as chief of Central Command in charge of the West Bank, as chief of military intelligence during the Second Intifada, and as chief of staff of the Israeli military.

"From his knowledge as a former intelligence chief, top military commander and until recently defense minister, he said, “I can say that at this moment and for the foreseeable future there is no existential threat to the state of Israel. So Israel’s leadership should stop frightening the population as though we face an existential threat. It’s a cynical attempt to exploit the citizenry.”

“This doesn’t mean that we should rest on our laurels,” he continued. “We still face threats. We need a strong, high quality military.” However, he said, Israel also needs confidence and strong relationships in the international community, especially with the United States.

“If there’s anything that keeps me awake at night,” Yaalon said, “it’s the divisions in Israeli society, the undermining of our values, the attacks on our soldiers. Likud members that I meet with tell me there’s a longing for change.”

    • How is it that neither mondoweiss nor 972mag is covering the announcement by Moshe Yaalon that he will be running for office and also his harsh criticism of Netanyahu and Likud? Considering the details you usually cover, how has this been seemingly ignored?? Is this not further proof of the rift within Israel?

    • Switch the words "Iran" with "Israel" throughout Nut&Yahoo's whole speech and you will see what Netanyahu is a master at, and that is Orwellian statements, the exact inverse of truth. Some call it Machiavellian accusation, where you take your most vulnerable and damaging traits and project them proactively on your targets.
It's hard to even remember what he said since he is literally just unloading a checklist of the 14 years of propaganda he's waged against Iran.
But, it can be summarized as so:
"Iran stole my lunch money." "My wife likes Iran more than me." "Iranians get all of the attention, it's not fair." "I'm balding........ Iran." "Iran trolls me on Twitter."
"Iran said they are going to export their revolution." Yes, that's true.
It's happening right now. Iran is exporting their politically ANTI-ZIONIST revolutionary ideals to the rest of the world by awakening them from your global crimes and tyranny via international finance and everything that goes under it.
What scares you and other crackpots the most is that Iran is going to give the Americans what they need to complete their own American Revolution their Christian way AGAINST YOUR FOUNDERS, the Rothschild Cartel.
Iran has one of the oldest Christian communities in the world. You are trying to cause a mass murder against the progeny of the Magi that were the first to visit and anoint Jesus Christ.
Iran has THE oldest Judean community in the world by 2,500 years (no comparison). Israel always seems to be the world's problem and can't co-exist with anyone who is not "Chosen". Iran is responsible for rebuilding the Second Temple upon which Jesus delivered his sermon. Iran is responsible for saving the real ancient Hebrews from extinction in Babylonian captivity.
In even your stolen Hebrew Lore, Iran's founder, Cyrus the Great, is regarded as the only Gentile Messiah. And you seek to kill his descendants on lies.
The "Chosen" ideology == the Nazi's supposed "Superior Race" ideology.
Iran was the crossroads of civilization not once, but twice, during history. No one can argue away the fact that Iran, in fact, despite your corruption of Western education and curriculum, is one of the most influential and old civilizations of all time.
You are trying to compare your 66 year history of genocide to Iran's 7,000 year rich history of worldly accomplishments, including the progenitorship of FOUR of the world's major religions (the Judean/Hebrew religion, Christianity itself (3 Magi), Hinduism, and Buddhism). Many of those accomplishments, you have stolen.
You have tricked people into thinking you have anything to do with the Middle East, now or in the past -- ever. You have tricked people into thinking you are even related to the Hebrews of the Bible when you are wholly not.
Iran is prepared to be the bridge to freedom even if it means facing down you devils to the final, bitter end.
You claim Iran's ideals are different than American's, but Thomas Jefferson and James Madison cited Iran's history of being the first creators of human rights as the source codex for the American Bill of Rights. A bill of rights you and your cronies have worked to destroy from within America.
By engaging with Israel, America has earned itself a police state. America has earned itself endless wars without reward. America has earned itself utter corruption where Americans can't even recognize a foreign interest is dictating them to destructive ends like chumps. America has earned itself a surveillance state. America has earned itself false flags and the opportunity to spill blood endlessly for you while you continue to donate ZERO TROOPS to the same cause.
I stand with ‪#‎America‬ and I stand with ‪#‎Iran‬. Palestine must be returned to its 1947 borders.

  • Thanks to Netanyahu, Israel support turns into a political football
  • Netanyahu speech scandal blows up, and 'soiled' Dermer looks like the fall guy
    • One more comment, this sounds like a sophisticated version of a repeated talking point that Zionists use...one which seems to blame the western world for not doing enough to secure the sovereignty of a European colonial nation masquerading as a Jewish nation for a people without a land.

    • I apologize dearly if this is off topic and a no-no, I am a newly registered member so please set me straight if I shouldn't be doing this here. I came across a youtube video of a debate between Dershowitz and Chomsky and reading through the comment section, I came across this:

"I am not "more Israeli then the Israelis". I am just more historically accurate. The situation today results because of over-doses of diplomacy and acute starvation of reality. In this case, the concept that "you're both right" amounts to "you're both going to suffer indefinitely".
This began BEFORE WW1. Not WW2, NOT 2,000 years ago but just EXACTLY at the historical point when oil became a strategic commodity. At that moment, the world first heard the words: "Self Determination", which became the bumper-sticker for the Paris Peace Conference (1919). But it was a bogus scam to cover the side-deals being made to redistribute the oil in favor of the USA, UK and to a lesser extent, France.
The UK then made further conflicted side deals with the USA & the Zionists and conversely, with the Arab tyrants. The Holocaust was partly the attempt by Germany to crawl their way back into the petroleum club, which they had been ejected from in WW1.
This practice of conflicted promises continued renewed, when UNSCR 242 was ratified with two very different (known) legal interpretations unresolved.
Pause for a moment to reflect: Ben Franklin had been an avowed abolitionist. Yet, he became the DECIDING vote in favor of the US Constitution--one without a ban on slavery. This act of misplaced diplomacy ultimately led to the US Civil War, with millions dead.
Now, does the United Nations even have the legal authority to pass UNHCR 242? NO. The Charter of the United Nations does NOT provide for such authority, on two separate levels.
First, the role of the Security Council is defined as being charged with the power to intervene in matters which threaten world peace. What is that? Does it mean that any group (or groups) can push a conflict until it fits that description, just because (example) the rotating Security Council membership might provide a favorable vote for THEM during that two year span? I don't think that is the legal or ethical definition, but that is the practical one, which the world has been working with--because there is NO ONE who can tell the Security Council to stand down.
Secondly, Article 80 of the UN Charter places off limits, "arrangements" which the UN inherited upon its formation. This conflicted territorial claim is not only one of those but the PRIMARY one of those being referenced, again with TOO MUCH diplomacy added, so that its precise meaning could continue to be debated (and fought over). The basic position of the Western Powers has been: "hands off our oil and if the Mid East tribes want to kill each other, when they grow tired of it they shall make peace".
We must also not forget that the UN Partition Plan (UNGAR 181) called for a UN sovereign state--consuming most of the Jerusalem area. No where in the Charter of the United Nations does it provide for one inch of territorial sovereignty by the Treaty Organization. So the first attempted "land grab" was by the United Nations itself.
For the past 10 years, I have been posting entries on various blog sites stating that the ultimate goal of the radical Arab/Muslim militancy is to establish a "caliphate" covering the entire Mid East. Many of these posts were deleted--in the name of "moderation" and of those which remained posted, they were usually answered with accusations of "racism", "Islamophobia", bigotry, etc.. SOME PEOPLE CAN NOT KEEP TRACK OF THE BLATANT (SOMETIMES RECENT) PAST, YET THEY ASSAULT THOSE LIKE MYSELF, WHO CAN IDENTIFY EVENTS WHICH HAVE NOT YET OCCURED.
Most of you reading are therefore functionally akin to sheep. If you do not want to be sheep, pay attention:
Around a dozen separate times in the 20th century, new territorial borders were often followed by migrating ethnic and/or religious populations, sometimes moved by force. One year before Israeli independence, Islamic Pakistan (with support from the USA and UK) declared its independence from Hindu India. This resulted in 20-million displaced people and probably more civilians murdered in the name of God(s) then the entire number of displaced Arabs from 1948.
In this case, the JEWISH PEOPLE OF THE WORLD had SEVEN separate international treaties and conventions providing for a "Jewish National Home" in Palestine, (which was then inclusive of Jordan). Paris Peace Conference (1919), Treaty of Versailles (1920), San Remo Peace Conference (1920), Treaty of Sevres (1920), League of Nations Mandate (1922), Lodge-Fish Resolution of US Congress (1923) and the Anglo American Treaty of 1924. These treaties supersede anything the United Nations has legal authority over and are what is (too loosely) referenced in Article-80 of the UN Charter.
The Camp David Peace Conference of 2000 was ended by Chairman Arafat over the so called "right of return" of (then) 4+ million Arabs, most all of whom had never once set foot inside Israel in their entire lives. These so called "refugees" could have been resettled by the UNHCR over the previous 52 years but were purposefully kept in tact, precisely to maintain this ongoing state of belligerency against the Jews. (People who dispute this fact can provide no other reason BTW). The numbers can not lie. 750,000 in 1948 and 4+ million by year 2000.
Prof. Chomsky is, in my opinion not a truthful person and in fact, his entire role in this dispute is to linguistically manipulate the frame-of-reference to where it is least favorable to the Israelis and collaterally, to the social and economic determent of Jews worldwide. "

I wrote in reply the following:

"The Islamic world was one way before the world was carved into nation states and Arab tribes were not constantly killing each other off until oil became important and Western interference in the region started. These same Western powers carved today's artificial borders in the middle east propping up your so called "Arab Tyrants" during the colonial era and this has much to do with the infighting between Arab nations and tribes. These Western forces wanted a European presence in the middle east, and so Israel was created with Judaism being the excuse. Most Israeli Zionists are secular and do not even believe in a God, Israel is simply a colonial state and the last of its kind on the last of it's legs. Your cleverness is impressive and your words make for sophisticated lies and serve for great Zionist talking points but the lies are falling apart. Israeli boldness, greed and stupidity is the reason why the nation will eventually fold with a decaying America being its last protector, in fact, Israel has everything to do with the acceleration of American cultural/moral decay in these last few years but that is a whole different topic altogether. Israel has brought so much attention on itself with it's bold stupidity, all of which is dependent upon American money, that now you Zionist liars no longer have the power to narrate the history of the conflict to the Western world. In fact, you are falling one by one...Dershowitz is being exposed now, Dermer is being exposed now, Netanyahu is being exposed now and there are more to follow. Your children do not have the counterfeit yearning for an Israeli homeland like you do, all that is left is a new generation of ugly "charactered" Israeli settler immigrants and they are the raw and real face of Israel. I can only imagine the paranoia you live with, every moment must be filled with uneasiness as you watch this unfold. Your words are laughable - "Prof. Chomsky is, in my opinion not a truthful person and in fact, his entire role in this dispute is to linguistically manipulate" - what a spot on description of your own commentary here or better yet a spot on description of Alan Dershowitz, the proven liar who stole second hand quotes and was called out for his plagiarism by Professor Finkelstein and was caught red handed for it, basing his garbage book on the other proven garbage book written by Joan Peters. Look up the Democracy Now segment on youtube, Norman Finkelsten and Dershowitz debate the book and Alan is so painfully embarrassed that its sad to watch. No doubt, you know about this but want to instead call professor Chomsky the liar. And Dershowitz is fighting a pedophile case as we speak, everything is falling apart for you guys and I am enjoying watching it happen. "

Hopefully I said nothing offensive to anyone here and I apologize if I did. My words are feeble compared to the articles and accompanying comment sections here, I check this site out everyday because it gives me hope that the tide is turning.

I am not yet equipped to take on each of his little so called factual statements myself so I kept my reply general. I am wondering if someone here could elaborate on some of his specif claims because I am interested to hear what you guys think.
