  • What do you do when Netroots is just not that into you?
    • Hey Philip! Check out Minnesota Break the Bonds Campaign while you're here. Also IJAN-Twin Cities. We'd be glad to see you.

  • On 'Arna's Children' and the question of armed resistance
    • I felt the same way when I saw the film at the Freedom Theater in 2008. The others in my group bought copies of it to show to their friends back home. I thought at the time that I would be working to convince people back home about the effects of the occupation and oppression on Palestinians, but this movie seemed to leave out the Israeli violence and encourage Palestinians to violence - not the message I hoped to show people back home, especially those who might need convincing. Those who already know the situation, understand. Those who are unfamiliar would never get it - but they would continue to believe that all Palestinians are terrorists.

  • Not a Palestinian to be seen in W. Post piece on Occupied West Bank
  • The myth of West Bank prosperity: 'A Lexus is no substitute for individual freedom and dignity'
    • Seham, for some reason I can never get to the first article in your postings. Clicking on the title just takes me to the second and subsequent articles. Can you give me a link. I want to read about the myth of WB prosperity.

  • Turkish jurisdiction
    • Except the boats never intended to pass through Israeli waters. Since Israel unilaterally disengaged from Gaza, they have been claiming that they no longer occupy the region, so boats not passing through Israeli waters should be able to enter Gazan. This just confirms what we have been saying all along - that Israel still militarily occupies Gaza.

  • Haaretz: the real existential threat is racism
    • There's also no mention of Mizrahi Jews (Jews of Middle Eastern and African descent), who are actually the majority of the Jewish population in Israel, yet subjected to many of the same discriminatory policies (unequal infrastructure, unequal education, even housing demolitions), as the Palestinian Israelis. They are completely ignored in all discussions, both within and outside of Israel, but may hold a key to ending Israeli apartheid.

  • How the mainstream media marginalize reasonable ideas
    • "separate roadways on a largely-religious basis"

Don't perpetuate the myth that this is a religious conflict. There is deeply-rooted and institutionalized racism in Israel against non-whites and non-Europeans, even against Jews. Watch the movie "Ringworm Children" or look at the discrimination against the Mizrahi Jew, Ezra Nawi. If this were just a religious conflict where would the Palestinian Christians fit in?

Israel wants us to believe this is a religious conflict and that it has been raging for centuries. We can all ignore it and say "oh they're fighting again," and continue watching the football game, since no one can solve a religious conflict. It is a conflict about land, resources, and human rights, and let's keep it on that level.

  • Gaza Freedom March's message to Israelis: 'Don't shoot us!'
    • I will be on the Gaza Freedom March and I expect no violence from the IDF. Instead I expect Israel to create a diversion to get the world's eyes off of Gaza - and what better diversion than to bomb Iran? So I apologize to all Iranians: you will be getting the best US and Israeli military technology raining down on your heads because I am in Gaza trying to work for justice. So sorry....
