The way I look at it, if Hagel has to hold his nose and run through the Zionist script to get confirmed, then *sigh*... so be it. Maybe I'm an optimist, but I do think he's a principled enough guy to act based on his clearly stated positions when he is indeed in office. I'm as frustrated as everyone else that this nonsense is required to hold serious office in government, but sometimes you have to lose the battle to win the war.
I agree and disagree. I agree because the nomination of a Secretary of Defense will never inherently change foreign policy. It could Noam freakin' Chomsky, it doesn't matter. Meaningful change in foreign policy has to come from Obama and Kerry. However, I think the nomination suggests that Obama wants to make some changes. I have to think he would've nominated any old neo-con if he didn't.
