    It appears that the process for UN membership for a new state goes through the Security Council as a recommendation to the General Assembly. If true, this would preclude any chance of success. Obama will stop it in the SC. I am not sure if there is a veto available for application for membership but the application can be denied by a special committee of the SC. Barack Obama has been working in Europe to build support for exactly that type of rejection.

    No one should be under the impression the interim military government is not being pressured by the Americans and Israelis. Even after Cairo has a democratically elected government it will economically be very weak. And when we arrange aid for it we will have conditions. The Rafah crossing is one of those conditions. Another condition is relations with Israel. Egypt will not be allowed sever relations. We are not through with Egypt yet.

    I am puzzled, either I am reading it wrong or Israels rabid supporters have missed something. My impression of Obama's speeches is he is trying his best to save Israel from the impending Palestinian demographic explosion. I believe he is very sincere in his attempts to warn Israel that it is heading towards a one state solution, much loathed by all, as a default to a failed peace.
    I am not impressed by Mr Obama but I would think the lobby and it's extensions in congress would be ecstatic with his loyalty.

    This slap symbolizes what Israel stands for. It never starts a fight. It is the noble, shining example of democracy for the world. It may not start a fight but it has over 60 years of experience in provoking 'unprovoked' attacks. In any, less 'shining', country a police officer would be suspended, possibly fired, for slapping a protester.
    Israeli police and occupation forces have no class and are no different from illegal settlers. They are tacky, crass, uncouth brutes. They give a bad name to good Jews.

    "Is this is what the most moral army in the world does!?" Well actually this is not all. It does a whole lot more. I am sorry to see what they did to you Christopher and thank God you are safe. You are relatively lucky. I believe anti-protest forces, any where in the world, are trained to fire tear gas far above heads of protesters. Exception; Israeli Occupation Forces have a habit of shooting tear gas canisters aiming straight at protesters as though they are shooting live ammunition. This hides their criminality behind the pretext of 'crowd control' but reveals their true intent, which is to maim and kill. In 2009 Tristan Anderson was paralyzed when he was shot in the head and lost much of it. Life has not been good for Tristan since then. Many Palestinians have been killed or maimed in the same manner.
    Outside of the U.S. Congress there may be few people who will believe the IOF is a moral army.

    I would like to collect the $10 Jeff Blankfort made off his CIA friend. Here's how:
    1-$5 says Obama will not release Pollard this year. He will not risk it.
    2-Another $5 says he will not be assassinated in Israel. Israel cannot risk it.
    Back to point 1, I would wager $5 for 2013 that he, or any incoming president will release Pollard.

It will be much better for Israel to work with someone who represents the majority or the stalemate and bloodshed will continue ad infinitum. Israel continues to think along dangerous lines that keep dragging us into confrontation.

    Debonnaire, I am not sure why anyone would think Obama and Hillary are Jew haters but I have plenty of evidence they are not. In any event, I do believe Obama will have a tough time with AIPAC and to be sure his speeches at their upcoming annual convention will be exceedingly appeasing. This is also the convention that will be addressed by the American Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
    Also on the weapons front, there is no way we can get any support for stopping the flow of money to Israel. I believe it is high time the U.S. tax payer got an 'Israel Tax Credit' for the money that we have been forking over to Tel Aviv. Israel Tax Credit

    Excellent analysis Sumud. I believe it is not Russia, it is China Israel is courting. This is a good thing since Russia has a religious orthodox base where Israel can continue to play the "God gave us this land' card, China has absolutely no such baggage. Strategically this is not good for Israel.

    Undoubtedly Bienart is a good speaker. I too disagree with his euphemistic label 'non-democratic Israel’ instead of using the more honest and accurate term ‘Illegally Occupied Land’. Also one cannot but notice the irony of the correlation since 1974 where the more people stand up to Israel’s hegemony the more illegal settlements in the West Bank. Conclusively, perhaps, if we get in the habit of calling a spade a spade and nothing else, our message will be much more lucid, and hopefully reverse the correlation. Sajepress

    It is really quite simple. We can continue to micromanage our hypocrisy, at punishingly high costs, both financial and human, or we can take a bold stand and apply principles of democratic freedom universally. When we vigorously advocate freedoms for dissenting voices in Iran, another theocracy like Israel, but suppress our enthusiasm for the rest of the Muslim countries, we become comical and lose credibility.     It is not going to happen voluntarily, but at some point we will be able to look back and say, we could have done things differently. Selectively being right will make us wrong most of the time.

    I am quite sure Ross was thinking about Israel when he talked about the Technological clock.
    The technology you are talking about is the one that U.S. and Israel are most worried about. Ironically they do not fully understand it. Quite comically, Hillary Clinton sent out tweets to people in Iran coaxing them to get out on the streets and promptly got them killed. You can’t use Tweets as guns for shooting. These people are hilarious.

Today, it is a one party system in the US, the Israeli congress. There are precious few who belong to the 'American' party, but they will not be elected again.
