Rear once. Have to read anything Bamford writes at least twice. First coverage about Israeli communication companies accessing 95% of all American phone calls was Fox News reporter Carl Cameron four part report on Amdocs and Comverse Infosys not only accessing, data mining etc but the report included alleged claims that this system had been infiltrated through some back door. There were also claims that those intercepting (allegedly Israeli intelligence agents) had not released all information about the 9/11 terrorist communications that had been intercepted in that four part report. Cameron came out with this report soon after 9/11. Supposedly Fox was hammered for this report and took it off their website.
    Watch all four parts

Wow Mondo, I’m really amazed. So you are blocking not only my links to Carl Camerons investigation of major crimes, crimes you allegedly abhor, but you also block my comments when I point out the blocking.

As someone who was responsible for moderating comments on political sites himself, I think it is perfectly legitimate for you to block whatever you want. It’s your site, you pay the bills, you select published content.

But what really bugs me is, that you can’t be bothered to at least send an e-mail to a loyal reader and commenter like me, who has recommended this site to his friends since the days when Phil was still at the New Yorker. By e-mail, you could at least shortly explain why you censored the content in question, for which I saw no basis.

If that’s how you treat your supporters, I’m done supporting you. Goodbye.

You mean, hooray!, the use of the term “shady” has (apparently, but it’s early days yet) become POSSIBLE in American discourse.

I live for the day when Israel is one nation among the nations, a bit like Costa Rica, and judged with all the others by a single standard.

I think the audience for Wired is probably more sophisticated about these issues than the audience for, say, major daily newspapers. And, yeah, Bamford has been writing about Israeli access to sensitive U.S. information for a while now.

The origins of this are in Bamford’s earlier writings about Israel taping into US communication pipelines some time ago at a time when the House phone system was owned by an Israel owned company and members of Congress assumed all their calls were being listened to by Israel. Congress did nothing to stop this then, they are as unlikely as ever to care now. How many of these people, who claim that the security of the US is a major priority, have signed on to have Jonathan Pollard spring from prison?

The press is still on to get Obama to free Pollard; it’s incessant. I guess it will depend on how much Obama needs to free him when the GOP candidate might be winning?

Was there some connection with Abramoff and which companies set up the new phone systems in the Clinton White House?

there have been at least 2 “accidental” severing of major telecommunications lines that rest at the bottom of the ocean … it is very likely that these were staged military exercises as part of wargames for a cyber war … and I fully expect that israel has its hands all over this too … what is great for all of us who care about human beings, peace, decency, compassion, fairness, and an eventual positive outcome to the I/P conflict is that we know the tighter israel and the zio-mafia squeezes, the more power actually slips through their fingers … you can take small steps in your daily life to thwart constant monitoring: just use some foil to line your purse/wallet and hide your magnetically-striped cards (credit card, debit, license, Passport, etc) from RFID readers until you must pull them out for use and use a Faraday Cage for your smart-phone too (again, foil will work) – your signals tracking your location, etc. will be blocked until you take it out for use
