One-woman wrecking crew of Jewish community’s image, Geller brings her show to Toronto

Pamela Geller, who devotes her life to arguing that the religion of Islam is the greatest national security threat to the U.S. and the West, continues to cut a swath inside the Jewish community. Last month a Great Neck, Long Island, synagogue invited her to talk about the Islamization of America then backed out under protest; but a Chabad House promptly hosted Geller before a packed crowd, and after that the “good rabbi” (as Geller put it) of Congregation Beth-El in Edison, N.J., also hosted her.

These follies did not dissuade the Toronto Jewish community from enacting a similar drama. JTA:

A suburban Toronto synagogue canceled a speaking engagement by Pamela Geller, a vocal critic of radical Islam.

Geller was due to speak May 13 at a Chabad synagogue in Thornhill, north of Toronto, but the synagogue’s rabbi, Mendel Kaplan, backed out following a visit by the hate crimes unit of local police.

But it looks like she found a place— a Zionist Centre:

Pamela Geller, a controversial speaker best known for protesting a planned mosque near Ground Zero in New York and plastering that city’s subway system with anti-jihad ads, will speak May 13 at the Toronto Zionist Centre, a pro-Israel rental space.

Geller, who is being brought in to speak by the hard-line Jewish Defence League (JDL), was originally supposed to lecture at the Chabad Flamingo Synagogue in Thornhill, Ont., but York Regional Police threatened its rabbi with his removal as a police chaplain if he let the event happen.

The Jewish Defence League of Canada, which is committed to “restoring the pride and integrity of the Jewish people,” is hosting Geller. It has 30 security staff on hand to handle possible disruption, something they’re practiced in; though it reports that the event is sold out.

Mark Steyn at National Review Online is concerned that the Jewish community is not wrapping its arms around Geller.

Canada is now a land where cops are sent round to synagogues to threaten rabbis – all in the name of “diversity” and “inclusion”, which must give the old-school fascists a laugh at their Monday-night poker game in hell. Jewish organizations north and south of the border ought to be up in arms about this.

Since it sounded a bit “unusual”, I checked what kind of police repressions were applied to courageous Canadian rabbis. Black Hunded in Canada? Judge for yourself:

TORONTO – York Regional Police threatened to remove a rabbi as one of the force’s chaplains if he hosted a controversial anti-Islamist speaker at his Thornhill synagogue.

but the synagogue’s rabbi, Mendel Kaplan, backed out following a visit by the hate crimes unit of local police.

omg.

So what is Mark Steyn, a new-school fascist?

I could be wrong but I think Canada’s hate crime laws are a bit stricter than here, which is probably why the police paid a call.

With friends like that, zionism doesn’t need enemies. Really, can’t they see how supporting an unhinged hate stirrer like her drags them into the same gutter? Or is that what they want?
