Read the StandWithUs dossiers on pro-Palestine activists for yourself

on 30 Comments

Earlier this week, I revealed that StandWithUs, a right-wing Israel advocacy group with ties to the Israeli government, had compiled dossiers on over 100 people who speak out for Palestinian human rights. The website with the dossiers,, also had suggested questions for campus Israel advocates to pose to the speakers.

It was a revealing window into how StandWithUs works. I received many inquiries from activists and analysts asking to see the dossiers on them. The story was picked up by the Ramallah-based Arabic news outlet Al Quds. And the day after I exposed, the group took the site down.

But the entire site was downloaded by pro-Palestine activists and republished. Check it out here.

There are some kinks with the site. So if you get an error message, just return to the home page, where you can navigate the whole site.

Here’s a snippet from what I reported earlier this week: is meant to help “Israel advocates respond to and counter anti-Israel speakers who come to your campus.” The site announces it was “made possible by generous funding from the Newton D. and Rochelle Becker Foundation in partnership with the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles.” The repository of information on speakers and groups is one part of StandWithUs’ efforts to boost Israel’s image on college campuses, where the group spends more than half of its money. (I previously revealed StandWithUs’ internal strategy for combating Israel Apartheid Week, which began yesterday in the U.S.)

Read the whole thing here.

They can try to manage a list like that but not once opposition to Zionism reaches critical mass

    “For all the ones
    Who bum me out
    For all the ones
Who fill my head with doubt
For all the squares who get me pissed
    You’ve made my shitlist ”

Man, I would pay to be on this list. Adding Craig and Cindy Corrie~ nothing like rubbing salt in the wound eh? What unbridled arrogance!

      • seafoid on February 28, 2014, 10:21 pm

Craig and Cindy really stand out on that stand with list, don’t they?
There is no place in Zionist discourse for people like them. I find that very depressing.
The Baal Shem Tov probably wouldn’t be allowed to speak to Hillel nowadays either.

I’ve not heard of the guy, but I couldn’t help but laugh at Stand For Facts’ description:

“Joe Carr, or Joe Smith as he was previously known, is a self described Anarchist who works to dismantle racist and patriarchal systems of privilege and tear down “society at large”. ”

Are they suggesting this guy is wrong to challenge racism and systems of privilege? Isn’t apatheid a system of privilege?

    • Sycamores on March 1, 2014, 8:56 am

the thing about lists is that they have a strange way on backfiring.

for example Masada2000 a radical-zionist website that gather the names (and other personal info) of nearly 10,000 ‘self-hating’ Jews only serve to highlight the growing number of Jewish people that were critical of israeli policies.

it was becoming a badge of honor for people to be on the list.

seemingly the site status is inactive at the moment

    • eGuard on March 1, 2014, 10:11 am

That’s 102 names and 31 organizations. Is there one, only one, in these 133 that is an anti-Semite?

  2. just on February 28, 2014, 4:37 pm

Holy smokes! Now, this is a “get”!

Their true colors on display for everyone to see. Such a ‘democracy’– so afraid of the truth.

Joey McCarthy is smiling from his crypt at his protegees.

  3. RudyM on February 28, 2014, 5:16 pm

I don’t see how this is so different in principle than anti-Zionist/pro-Palestinian organizations providing the background on pro-Israel speakers (including their past statements, organizational connections, names of spouses, etc.), unless private information is being given out about these speakers, in which case it would be good to point out those cases.

    Maybe more organized?

Is the information on SourceWatch also McCarthyism?

It’s worth seeing what the pro-Israel/anti-Palestine crowd’s talking points might be with regard to particular speakers. I feel outrage over Zionism, but I don’t feel any outrage over Zionists preparing “dossiers” like these. It seems kind of expected. One’s opponents are going to act as opposition! Shocker!

  4. imforjustice on February 28, 2014, 5:18 pm

hats off to Mondoweiss and the pro-Palestine activists for bringing this to light.

    this is an amazing find

the dossiers is a brilliant insight into the hasbara brigade but for me the Point/Counterpoint section is a goldmine.

all activists should have this in their favorites.

the hasbara book is now officially expose for all to read.

hasbara central will be reeling from this for years to come.

i’m surprise Max Blumenthal was not on the list.

Richard Falk is a very good man

someway these people never realized the American Experience…

but hell, that’s there problem and really does not concern us

Simon Wiesenthal Center thinks Israel should be a State and the USA should fully support whatever fascist ideas the goons in Israel think up…yeah, like the 40,000 black Union Soldiers and 250,000 others who served are going to have died to support a Fascist Israel riddled with Jim Crow Laws…

No wonder SWU tries to deny these speakers a podium. Its canned responses not only lack nutritional value, even when spiced up with sensational claims, many of them are obviously past their sale date (that meme is so five years ago!).

I am thankful that they put together such a comprehensive list of smart well spoken articulate passionate advocates for Palestine and Palestinians. I am so proud to know many of the people on the list and encouraged that these people scare them. This is encouraging. And if they think their lame questions to ask can throw any of these people off they are in for a surprise. Because if they need someone to create questions for them then they will be ill equipped
    for the answers

    • ritzl on March 1, 2014, 2:19 am

      Great observation, Blownaway.

I was always afraid of sharing my innovations until I realized that being innovative itself was the edge – not the trail of copyable things.

Same principle applies here, as you point out. These folks are the nimble originators of content and exposure to uncomfortable truth. Barring some external coercion, they will always be in front.

  12. PeaceThroughJustice on February 28, 2014, 11:46 pm

Actually these “dossiers” are pretty by-the-numbers stuff, not likely to be convincing to anyone other than already committed zionist jews.

What’s interesting is the amount of money that is obviously available to throw these hasbara sites together (thanks to the Newton D. and Rochelle Becker Foundation and the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles).

What we really need an expose of the names of these college students in StandWithUs, so we can recognize them when they show up as interns in our congressman’s office.

My advice to Stand with us

    Sit down. Think.

  15. annie on March 1, 2014, 11:09 am

i clicked on one of the names i had never heard of:

Some of Piterberg’s most venomous claims are:

In 1948, there was an “explicit Zionist intention to unleash ethnic cleansing [of Palestinians], under cover of war . . . There were, of course, deliberate and massive expulsions.”[8]
“The reality is that the eventuality of massive expulsions was inherent in the nature of Zionist colonization in Palestine long before war broke out in 1948.”[9]
“Jewish settlers were to be accorded exclusive privileges deriving from the Pentateuch, and Palestinian Arabs treated as part of the natural environment.”[10]
“This kind [of nationalism] was feral in its demand for ethnic homogeneity, ruling out from the beginning any possibility of the Zionism movement accepting a bi-national state in Palestine.”[11]
“The physical implementation of the policy of non-return [of Palestinian refugees after 1948] meant the brutal wartime demolition of occupied villages, and in some cases of urban neighborhoods; the confiscation of lands and properties; the settlement of Jews in places rendered Arab-free.”[12]
‘[This 1951] memorandum is a faithful illustration of the ruthless state of mind of the Israeli establishment as it set out to transform the consciousness and memory of its victims.”[13]
“[Israel’s policy] tells of the tacit axis of apartheid that defines the state of Israel to this day: the interplay between the formal inclusion of Palestinians as citizens and their structural exclusion from equal rights within the state. This is the particular dialectic of oppression-of a population formally present but in so many crucial ways absent…”[14]

they are fighting an uphill battle all the way if they think they can keep this stuff underwraps.

  16. amigo on March 1, 2014, 11:26 am

They are being trained to be spin doctors.

Always look on the bright side.Israel is in desperado mode.Soon we will have child spin doctors armed with lies and propaganda.

Lovingly referred to as “Yisha Hasbarabrats”.

Would it be considered Child abuse to enter into a debate with them.Would they be overwhelmed???.

It,s all too amusing , were it not about such a terrible tragedy.

  17. German Lefty on March 1, 2014, 6:01 pm

Of the over 100 listed “anti-Israel speakers”, I have only heard of 40.

  18. German Lefty on March 1, 2014, 6:18 pm

What I find strange is that “J Street” is on the list of anti-Israel groups. Also, the liberal Zionist film “The Gatekeepers” is considered anti-Israel.

    • Talkback on March 2, 2014, 5:17 am

Everything is anti-Israel which doesn’t help Israel 100%. Even snowfall, mosquitos or traffic jam (especially on streets named after Jewish terrorists/prime ministers).

standwithus’ lists are absolutely brilliant. Their compilations include a lot of groups and speakers I’ve never heard of before and they are even introducing their main points, sources, etc.

Thank you standwithus. You really know how to *** yourself. LOL.
